Luigi’s Mansion 3 - Hands On With The Demo At E3

At E3, we were able to go hands-on with the demo at Nintendo’s E3 booth.  It has been awhile since we have since Dark of the Moon came out for the DS.  As a long time fan of the series since it first appeared on the Game Cube, the wait was extremely worth it.

The visuals are what we would expect from the series.  It maintains the feel of the previous games, but also is extremely crisp on the Switch.   Every color popped and was extremely vibrant, but then again this is a first party Nintendo title, and you would expect nothing less.

The ghost hunting in this has seen a return to form but also adding additional elements.  The gyroscopic aiming has been removed in favor of the original twin stick aiming system of the Game Cube.  Instead of staying with the old tried and true system, they added in some needed tricks.  The first is Gooigi.  It is almost like a ghost version of Luigi that you can summon to assist in puzzle solving.  It can move through spikes and cages to get items with easy.  Swapping between both Luigi and Gooigi felt natural.  Nintendo added a Suction Shot, which has Luigi shooting out a plunger with a rope attached to it.  Luigi is able to suction the rope to help reveal hidden areas as well as defect shield bearing enemies.

Overall, my reservation about the game were dispelled and I cannot wait for this game to come out this year.  Nintendo has not given us a street date for it, however it is still on their fiscal year 2019 calendar.  For all fans of Nintendo first part titles, this game is a must pick up to add to your library.
