[00:00:00] Welcome to Crash in Game Night.

[00:00:16] My name is Matt Jure, your host.

[00:00:18] As always, it is our yearly holiday episode that we have with, we've been having since I'm a little bit more than a little bit more than a little bit more than a little bit more than a little bit more than a little bit more than a little bit more than a little bit more than a little bit more than a little bit more than a little bit more than a little bit more than a little bit more than a little bit more than a little bit more than a little bit more

[00:01:42] than a little bit more than a little bit more than a new podcast. And a smooth beer. Show off. And a town with championship basketball team. Yeah. And we're probably occasionally because we know you. You know what? Hold on, John, I live in the town.

[00:03:00] Prime lives in. And I have not seen him.

[00:03:03] Yeah. Yeah. He is just.

[00:03:05] He's up on the Northwest part of town. like straight up. He did. Yeah, he did that a couple times. Yeah, yeah, and total agreeance because a bow did play a more aggressive, like, position in football, but he went, he went hard. Like, yeah, primetime was, was really smart about staying in shape and, and, yeah, like

[00:04:21] that was so interesting.

[00:04:22] That's what was so interesting that documentary too, we all didn't really catch up while we were, while I was out there

[00:05:41] in Calcley with Theo last time,

[00:05:43] you know, a couple months ago was,

[00:05:45] but I know you guys have been real busy I cannot pick one who's better than the other because they're just both so wonderful and they're That's just Jason trying to get a janitor job at screen I'll try to put in a good word for you Jason But yeah, yeah Mortal Kombat one came out

[00:07:02] The good folks at another realm where we're kind enough to bring me back as as a Kenchi and it's wonderful your fantastic in it. Yeah. The stories like incredibly solid. It was really fun and interesting. Yeah. And dude, you wrote. Yeah. Can she's such a great character to give us the things that I don't even know about. Like those are the main things that I see. But man, the stuff that must go in in his head, where they just say, okay, you get to reimagine,

[00:09:42] re-envision, rewrite the entire Mortal Kombat universe.

[00:10:42] especially with coming back to the game. So yeah, yeah.

[00:10:43] Thank you so much.

[00:10:45] It's wonderful to be back.

[00:10:47] I am mighty happy to be back.

[00:10:49] So sweet.

[00:10:50] Yeah.

[00:10:51] So Vick before you head off, right?

[00:10:57] What is your holiday wish for everybody

[00:11:00] and what are you looking forward to hopefully do it 2024?

[00:11:05] Oh, that's a good question.

[00:11:06] Thank you for taking me. love the world like to be able to embrace a more spirit of caring about others and I would like to, yeah, you're making me realize that I keep thinking to myself, you know, I right now

[00:13:42] things are too busy for me to go's like, no, it turns out it isn't because if you have any free time, it's your obligation to be out there walking the picket lines. So it's like I had less time during the strikes because I was on the picket lines. You know? So yeah, life's never going to slow down. So I need to rather instead adjust my attitude.

[00:15:00] And I would like, one thing that my therapist taught me is that instead of saying,

[00:15:05] I should do this or I should do this,ed guy. I'm like, that was really long. Well, yes, answer. Well said. Well said. Yeah. Well, Vic, let's get you on out of here. Because you got some obligations. I got to feed some. Appreciate it. But get you back on soon. It sounds wonderful seeing you all.

[00:16:21] Thank you, Matt.

[00:16:21] Thank you, Jason.

[00:16:22] Thank you, Jerry.

[00:16:23] Thank you, Drew.

[00:16:24] And thank you, of course, to the Bentley Bear over there.

[00:16:27] So great. Sorry, I couldn't see you guys when you're out, man. It's all right. You know, we'll make some other opportunities. We'll get mad here again Okay, okay, that's that's good thing. I'm hoping like March or April Somewhere there March is crazy March and February gonna be crazy this year. I gotta go to Birmingham to do

[00:17:43] Things

[00:17:47] No that thing that thing in April that thing I'm right there with you, John. How did Tom, he had to, we had Christmas early for him. And another son had to go to something with his girlfriend. So we had to do a Christmas with him. And we had to go to my brother-in-law's house with Christmas. And then we had Christmas, but it was just different. It was different. So, you know, it's busy.

[00:19:01] Real quick, Mallory says hi.

[00:19:03] Oh, no.

[00:19:05] He just she just texted our group chat and said she's not able to make it I said, that's our girls. Man, haven't seen their little face, their little smile, their little smile lights up the room. It's good. It's good. But yeah, man, everything's cool. I know I'm running too. Everything's cool, you know. We're trying to work, trying to keep state consistent, we're doing a lot of anime. A lot of anime.

[00:20:20] And doing some other stuff that's going to be coming out.

[00:20:24] For God, I can't talk about it.

[00:20:26] Dude, that be good. So I'm excited about that come now, you know final fantasy rebirth is gonna

[00:21:43] Come out in February. So I'm excited about that

[00:22:41] for it comes out. I think it's a one or comes out.

[00:22:43] So we'll do that.

[00:22:44] I think it's me and Caleb are right now

[00:22:47] that I know of are gonna be there.

[00:22:49] So it'll be fun to do.

[00:22:50] What about WonderCon?

[00:22:53] Where is WonderCon?

[00:22:55] In and out.

[00:22:56] You know, it's funny.

[00:22:59] All right, just all truth be told.

[00:23:02] I'm looking for an agent,

[00:23:04] and I've had several people who said

[00:23:05] that they wanted done is older, you know, but some of the stuff I've done, I'm like, hey, it's pretty good stuff. You know, John, I'll shoot a, John, I'll shoot a message over to

[00:24:23] Laura Face Smith and Kenny James. They're, uh, just say we'll just talk about the elephant in the room and I guess the person's like Things going to bat for me, but because you even had to have that conversation that way and go that I don't want to go I don't want to do it. Yeah, yeah, because it's not it's not you know, so

[00:25:41] So it's interesting man

[00:25:43] It's like you work your tail off and you think you got the burden hand was like and you and for me you to be so that could be it too. So who knows but it'd be cool. I'm not and I'm not whining. I'm not complaining about it because I'm working. You know, so it's not like I'm going, Hey, man, I really want to do a convention in our in our own country, honestly, in our own country.. Cause I played the original and when I saw that true, I'm like, oh, it's going to be good. I'm getting ready to start an OG run just for the kind of get ready for it. But launched. Yeah. Oh my god. Are we back? That was before we even started doing it live on Twitch, which our big holiday episode was the first one we ever did live on Twitter. Hey, dude. John, that's right. Hey. 2019.

[00:29:40] That's what we met.

[00:29:41] That was back.

[00:29:42] John, when we still did Skype.

[00:29:44] Oh my god.

[00:29:44] No, we did that.

[00:29:45] Dude, Skype.

[00:29:47] We did Skype.

[00:29:48] Oh my god. what is your holiday wish to everybody and what are you looking forward to for 2024? What would you like to see happen? Mahalo they wish for everybody as honestly we know we have an election year coming up and for me I think it's important to remember that, going through election years, they've been tough on our country. So if we can just have empathy and a little bit of patience for each other and not let politics rule our mindsets of common sense,

[00:32:21] I think it's important this year.

[00:32:24] So my prayer is that everybodyouraging, you know, I would love to be able to travel our country to see fans

[00:33:41] for whatever projects I've ever done that are out there.

[00:33:44] I would love to make contact. You know, Danielle always hit you. I don't like hitting people like on the biggest posts. I like to DM folks when I see they're going through it. And you know, throughout the years, I've, whenever I'm on it, you know, and, and, and, and whenever I'm on social media and I see if you're going through it, I'm always reaching out to you. And I always will.

[00:35:00] I appreciate you.

[00:35:01] I love you, man.

[00:35:02] I love you.

[00:35:03] I love you.

[00:35:04] I love you.

[00:35:05] I love you.

[00:35:06] I love you.

[00:35:07] I love you. and we go, huh, feel pretty good. And we might go through another bout, but there's somebody else. You know what I'm saying? So I got too many folks that are taking themselves out. I'm not saying that's you, Dee. I'm not saying that at all, but you know what I'm talking about. We meet a lot of people online, a lot of fans, a lot of people, a lot of people who are on our side of the business who just they're overwhelmed.

[00:36:21] And I just, we got to help each other.

[00:36:25] When you see somebody hurting, man, reach out.

[00:37:21] But I mean, see, that's what I'm saying. Like a fantasy, a final fantasy community is just loving.

[00:37:27] And we remember, we remember and you know, you are.

[00:37:31] But I think one that leads the charge Netherlands, you know,

[00:37:35] so you're a big name there.

[00:37:37] But Jason, I think it goes to just cons in general though, right?

[00:37:40] It gives a chance for some of these people to, you know,

[00:37:43] that we've been fans of, you know, they hear negative stuff, it's hard for them to continue on with their job. And that is their job. That is their livelihood. So we need it. I love encouragement. I don't look at it like, yeah, you have feed me, feed me. But I love the energy of a crowd who appreciates the work that's been done as a whole.

[00:39:03] I love the energy that comes at you with thanks and your happiness. It's a night to keep you away from You guys come if anybody golfs let me know because I just got in the golf and I didn't realize I loved it this much Dicking

[00:41:41] But How's it going, bro? Click it on the videos. Yeah, I got to my mom following. He's got a dog that's doing the heavy lifting is the thing is we got a puppy red healer puppy who's been doing all the. I want to work. Drew, is that a is that a VV statue up on the shelf behind you? Yes.

[00:41:41] Yeah.

[00:41:43] You can see my very cool.

[00:41:44] Oh, gee, black mage.

[00:41:46] Yeah.

[00:42:45] So Drew has a life and treat me both with the podcast.

[00:42:47] Well, the Final Fantasy podcast, and then, I mean, we don't need to go into our life

[00:42:50] that the division just got exponentially harder

[00:42:53] as long as chemistry doesn't come into play.

[00:42:57] Baseball is broken.

[00:43:01] The Dodgers have ruined baseball and it's ruined now

[00:43:03] and nobody gets to have any fun.

[00:43:06] No.

[00:43:07] What I'm talking about, chemistry chemistry does matter and we know this that here with the Rockies right when we were going to the playoffs and everything we had DJ Lamayhu and once the Rockies decided to go nah we're gonna we're gonna go with Daniel Murphy instead of DJ the chemistry just started going off kilter and now we don't have story we don't have the I also don't want to get ahead of myself we also have

[00:44:22] our own little curse of always getting to the playoffs and then that's it so I just like yeah

[00:45:22] going on, if you all remember, I call that stuff stuff. So we couldn't really get together and do anything for it,

[00:45:26] though we recorded one thing in the aftermath.

[00:45:30] But this year was the first time since Final Fantasy 9

[00:45:37] that my brother and I have played

[00:45:39] a Final Fantasy game together, right?

[00:45:43] Wow.

[00:45:43] Wow.

[00:45:44] Wow.

[00:45:45] That was how long it was spent.

[00:45:46] That was how long it was spent.

[00:45:47] That was how long it was spent.

[00:45:48] That was how long it was spent. six days and we played through Final Fantasy 16 basically as fast as you can and basically recorded a podcast each night at the end of our playing and just documented it in real time which is not normally how we cover these games like the history of hindsight and be able to dive into philosophy books and be able to have all this extra and we didn't

[00:47:04] have any of that. than the, uh, filming. That's awesome. Yeah. Yeah. And you know, it's interesting because I think Final Fantasy has always been about family, both like on the meta and in the games, obviously, it's a sense of found family. Sometimes it's legitimate, like legitimate. That's a bad word to use a blood family or found family is a

[00:48:20] very strong theme in Final Fantasy. And, and we love that,

[00:48:24] but, um,

[00:48:25] we also just recently started a thing where we're doing panel conversations. None of us have been invited. I've only done one show so far. What the heck? I mean, come on. You even brought me on DnVR gaming. And I kind of basically put, what's his face in his place? Yeah. Well, you had to. Those people were, you know. But no, no, no. I hope to have you all on at some point.

[00:49:41] But this first one was for the Martin Coors in our Discord

[00:49:45] channel just to literally be like,

[00:49:47] I'm just a Final Fantasy fan. Like reading off like yeah an organ story or something. Yeah, that's cool, man. Beautiful stuff. Love that. People who started with seven remake You know and and they're like a lot of people told me I shouldn't do this I should play the original first. I was like those people are wrong You can play seven remake and then play the original or you play seven remake and then play ten for all do it

[00:51:01] There's not a minute. It's been a minute. Of course. Absolutely. What have you been up to these days? I'm just looking at my own. It's okay. It's okay. I have a whole list of things. I'm trying to remember. It's been like- Yeah, I always log things just in case I forget. Oh, I think I forgot. I don't know. Maybe it was the right one. It was. Yeah, because I don't know. It wasn't monster prom because I think that was last year.

[00:53:42] Maybe it was monster prom because it's been a while since you've been on.

[00:53:44] So it's been trying to keep freaking phenomenal and so no feel that. Kids are fun. They're good young young young. Okay, real quick, Drew, it's I mean come on. They pretty much called up all of AAA. No, yeah, they'll be fine a couple years, but the kids, I appreciate and honestly like on a human note, because I know not everyone necessarily cares

[00:55:02] about the baseball, it really is interesting to be around a group of times in those situations. And in a community that turns sour like that can bring everybody down. It only takes one or two really negative people, Troy Toulouseki, Nolan Aronado to bring everyone down. Yeah. And on year more than any other year. And it's because it's a lack of empathy. So whenever I see something like that happen this year, completely south. And so there being a lot of empathy for people in a situation, I would see a lot of hate. And I would be like, okay, let me just, you know, just take some time away. And

[00:57:42] it shouldn't be like that. So I, my holiday scale, right? And from, you know, financial aspects to mental aspects. Um, help. I started therapy in the beginning of the month because of how my 23 went.

[00:59:01] So that's, you know,

[00:59:02] But still got it, man.

[00:59:03] You still got it.

[00:59:04] And that's a little prouder for you for man.

[00:59:06] You still got it.

[00:59:07] And it's been, You know and to get through some of our toughest times and I think the to the empathy point like that you talked about in the love that john talks about is that. You know that. We should be more caring about those around us because you know what sometimes you you're facing some demons that and some skeletons in the closet that.

[01:01:25] But it sucks because it brings out all these new emotions and stuff that are buried so far below the surface and in boxes that you've thrown away the key to.

[01:01:30] Right. And it's kind of like in some ways, you know, hate to make a Chrono trigger reference,

[01:01:38] but you know, there's in both trigger and cross, right? There's those parts where, and even,

[01:02:45] be standard in our society. It's always been strange to me. As somebody who's experienced a lot of weird stuff when I was young and so I've been in and out of it for years, it's

[01:02:52] weird to me that it isn't just a standard thing that everyone in our society, at least

[01:02:59] once a month, goes in and spaces and not something that we're

[01:05:24] take everything on. But behind the scenes, I told my therapist that I was fracturing and fracturing badly. You know, I had a moment right before therapy even started. I think

[01:05:31] it was my catalyst was all of a sudden, I felt like my emotions were completely disconnected

[01:05:38] from every memory that I had. So like, you have those memories throughout life that you

[01:05:42] remember the emotions of that day. And it just all see a therapist, they do not have your best interests at heart. And those are people you probably don't want in your circle. You know, if they're not willing to support you by going to see somebody that can professionally help you. Like we've said, unpack your shit

[01:07:00] because to what you know, Vixen said in chat to continue moving forward on that. And yeah, and honestly, as far as like the tone and where I'd like everyone to be at, honestly, I would say I would want to promote our finish out the show with your your want for 2024 and send us out. So I'm going to I'm going to segue into it. I'll just go a little out of order. Jerry pretty much said what he usually does. So real quick, as we end tonight, I want to thank everyone who crashed game night with us tonight in the chat and you know, just kind of watching the background.

[01:09:41] We always appreciate you guys giving us the opportunity to give you a little bit of a distraction from life.

[01:09:47] And if you like what you're, please make sure to drop us a follow.

[01:10:42] Yeah, you know, I am gonna take it with

[01:10:45] Yeah, anyways as you know every year

[01:10:50] It's always great having all the people from Final Fantasy Danielle

[01:10:57] Vic we didn't have Malarion, but she's one of our family John Austin Austin everybody out there, you know We have a bunch of people that as Matt said, it's always on our website with our past guests

[01:11:03] But I'm just glad that for 2023. We're able to still come together

[01:12:05] me, Matt, Jerry, Theo, all four of us meeting together at a convention, at a random E3 convention, you know, them waiting in line for...

[01:12:10] It's the infinity, or infinity.

[01:12:11] Me, checking out the rest of the convention, or going to Square Enix, you

[01:12:17] know, but it's our community that which holds us together, you know, let's keep

[01:12:21] it up for 2024, you know, that's one of the biggest wishes because the gaming with that. What did I? What did I? What did I say? What did I say? What did I say? What did I say? What did I say? What did I say? What did I say? What did I say? What did I say? What did I say? What did I say? What did I say? What did I say? What did I say? What did I say? What did I say? What did I say?

[01:13:40] What did I say?

[01:13:41] What did I say?

[01:13:42] What did I say?

[01:13:43] What did I say?

[01:13:44] What did I say?

[01:13:45] What did I say?

[01:13:46] What did I say?

[01:13:47] What did I say?

[01:13:48] What did I say?

[01:13:49] What did I say?
