Episode 271 - Outlaws Backlash As Nintendo Says No To Gamescom 2024 by Crashing Game Night
[00:00:00] .
[00:00:14] Welcome to Crashing Game Night.
[00:00:16] My name is Matt DiOriot, your host.
[00:00:18] As always, we have the full crew tonight.
[00:00:23] We're one spawn up in the top square,
[00:00:26] or at least thought for me top as we see it on Twitch.
[00:00:30] Is the beanie one?
[00:00:32] Is he's not the center square?
[00:00:34] Draw our door.
[00:00:36] What's up?
[00:00:36] What is up on my nerds?
[00:00:38] What is going on, boys?
[00:00:41] We got concerned slightly with that movement in that face.
[00:00:45] Like, I don't know if you just came or something else.
[00:00:49] Like, if that's how I was scared.
[00:00:52] OK, now, actually pretty fun.
[00:00:53] What's up?
[00:00:54] Is where we see him serve both hands.
[00:00:56] He ruined where I was going with this
[00:00:58] because I was a gentleman in the bottom right here for I'm here to ruin everything.
[00:01:03] I want to I were a version of Max Hedrum.
[00:01:07] The old Jesus.
[00:01:09] I played well into it.
[00:01:10] I mean, like, well, OK, so here's the thing is I was going to call you Max Hedrum
[00:01:14] and then he goes off and starts acting like Max Hedrum.
[00:01:17] So like, I'm the whole thing.
[00:01:21] I'm just going to, you know what?
[00:01:22] I'm going to rewind that.
[00:01:22] OK, folks up in the top and square is one half
[00:01:25] of the former pop group, Milly Vanilly, the beanie one.
[00:01:30] Mm hmm.
[00:01:34] What is up, everybody?
[00:01:35] Yeah, we'll start over.
[00:01:36] What is up all my nerds?
[00:01:37] How's it going?
[00:01:38] How are you doing?
[00:01:40] Very happy everyone's here.
[00:01:41] And yeah, we got the full deal was back and real quick.
[00:01:46] If any of my students catch this episode, this is exactly what I mean by
[00:01:50] one shot. You mess it up.
[00:01:53] Yeah, you just roll with it.
[00:01:54] You just roll with the punch.
[00:01:55] You just kind of mark it with a clap.
[00:01:56] You know, that's right.
[00:01:57] Not even now.
[00:01:58] You just say, hey, you know what?
[00:01:59] Exactly. I kind of work for Marvel and then all is forgiven.
[00:02:02] You got ready.
[00:02:03] But no, we all.
[00:02:07] It's the quickest way to get canceled.
[00:02:08] And that, yeah.
[00:02:09] And that, ladies and gentlemen is the matriarch.
[00:02:13] Deity of services, the man with the couch, the man, the myth,
[00:02:16] the legend, the return of the lion's main, Jason Bolidio.
[00:02:21] It's coming in.
[00:02:22] How's it going tonight?
[00:02:24] Oh, my God.
[00:02:25] So good to see my boy, Theo.
[00:02:27] Oh, my God.
[00:02:28] Hey, he felt lonely, dude.
[00:02:30] Anyways, he was glad that he was in the corner.
[00:02:33] He's doing himself.
[00:02:34] Dude, it's always different.
[00:02:36] It's always different when I don't have Theo here.
[00:02:38] I'm like, oh, man, it is okay.
[00:02:39] It's okay.
[00:02:40] But you know how you guys doing tonight?
[00:02:42] Oh, my goodness.
[00:02:43] Oh, my goodness.
[00:02:45] Back in action, you know, hopefully, hopefully hope all you
[00:02:49] did your taxes, you know, oh yeah.
[00:02:51] How are you guys looking at?
[00:02:53] They got out there and the Internet's mine were done
[00:02:57] since February.
[00:02:57] Well, you know what, man?
[00:02:59] Some of us, let's let's not do it early.
[00:03:02] They actually got money back.
[00:03:03] I'm a super.
[00:03:05] Let's let's not put fingers.
[00:03:06] No, I was the opposite.
[00:03:09] That's why I knew I was going to pay.
[00:03:11] I had to rip the bandaid off.
[00:03:12] I had too much coming in.
[00:03:14] So it's always what I hear is like, we have to pay
[00:03:17] wait till the last minute.
[00:03:18] Yeah.
[00:03:19] If it pays, it pays to be married.
[00:03:22] Yeah, kind of does.
[00:03:24] Yeah.
[00:03:24] Jason, I'm using those two certain things to be single too.
[00:03:28] Let me like, I still got paid to.
[00:03:30] So no, no, no.
[00:03:31] So when you file a married joint, you get put you get
[00:03:36] yourself put up in a better bracket.
[00:03:38] Not here baby.
[00:03:40] Yeah, we hear but for two people, you can make X amount.
[00:03:46] Yeah.
[00:03:46] So increases your return and whatnot.
[00:03:48] So it's great.
[00:03:50] So so for all you out there that are playing on game
[00:03:52] married, you know, do it during there are some tax
[00:03:54] benefits.
[00:03:55] There are some there are some frozen cars.
[00:03:58] You know, anyways, true love.
[00:04:01] I don't know.
[00:04:02] I'm going to hear.
[00:04:03] Come on out.
[00:04:04] Love, you know, like find who you who you game with
[00:04:07] flying find your player to, you know, find your great
[00:04:10] tax brackets.
[00:04:11] So like, you know, like that way.
[00:04:13] Yeah.
[00:04:14] Tax tax is worth love.
[00:04:16] Love is crap.
[00:04:17] Yeah, I love that we're selling marriage off of the
[00:04:20] tax bracket right now.
[00:04:23] Married for taxes.
[00:04:24] You know, it's a piece of paper and taxes.
[00:04:26] That's all it is, baby.
[00:04:27] Yeah, like, yep.
[00:04:29] So real quick, I do want to give a shout out to one
[00:04:32] of my students that have been volunteer teaching
[00:04:35] Savannah.
[00:04:36] You know what?
[00:04:37] Good luck on the podcast.
[00:04:38] You're getting ready to start.
[00:04:40] I'm really glad that I'm always.
[00:04:43] Come on, we got shot it out.
[00:04:45] It's not she hasn't gotten everything up and running
[00:04:47] it.
[00:04:48] She's getting ready to get the trailer and stuff out,
[00:04:49] but well, she recorded a show today while we were
[00:04:52] in class.
[00:04:54] But yeah, I'm glad that, you know, at least through
[00:04:56] this whole volunteer teaching and stuff that we
[00:05:00] were able to, you know, introduce these seniors
[00:05:04] to something they haven't done before.
[00:05:06] And some of them have enjoyed it.
[00:05:08] They're kind of starting their own podcast.
[00:05:09] So shout outs to Savannah, you know, when, uh, when she
[00:05:15] gets it up, we'll kind of give her a shout out on
[00:05:18] that because she's going to be talking about just
[00:05:20] life in general with her friends and family and
[00:05:22] guests and stuff like that.
[00:05:23] And it's going to be an interesting take being
[00:05:24] that honestly life going out into the real world
[00:05:29] as, you know, a soon to be graduate of high
[00:05:31] school is completely different than how life
[00:05:33] is right now.
[00:05:35] So it'll be hopefully she finds some success with
[00:05:37] that because man, we all had different rose colored
[00:05:42] glasses when we're all leaving high school and
[00:05:45] adulting has happened.
[00:05:47] So have fun and hopefully she takes example from
[00:05:52] half of this team on what to do and half of this
[00:05:54] team of what not to do.
[00:05:57] Yeah, I won't explicitly say which half, but
[00:06:00] I'll let the science aside.
[00:06:02] You interpret how you want to interpret.
[00:06:05] We all fit in each of those categories.
[00:06:09] So, you know, what to re-burry to anyways,
[00:06:13] is after you little snippet online, I really just
[00:06:15] want life finds a way.
[00:06:20] Shit.
[00:06:21] I don't know.
[00:06:23] Oh my God.
[00:06:24] I'm driving.
[00:06:25] You are not Ian Malcolm.
[00:06:27] You're not.
[00:06:28] Oh yeah, I know.
[00:06:29] All right.
[00:06:29] You're more like Dennis.
[00:06:30] You're more like Dennis Nedry.
[00:06:31] You're more like going down, getting the can of
[00:06:33] barbisol, hiding the embryos inside of it and then
[00:06:38] running away from the Delafi source.
[00:06:40] Yeah.
[00:06:41] I feel like no, because I feel like Jerry won't be sold
[00:06:45] by the Raptor in the beginning of the movie.
[00:06:47] Sure.
[00:06:47] He won't be sold because I'd rather go out to the Raptor
[00:06:50] in the beginning and then go out to the T-Rex like a
[00:06:53] freaking goat.
[00:06:55] I thought it was a T-Rex.
[00:06:56] I think the T-Rex would like just snap me real nice
[00:06:58] and quick whereas Raptor will torture me.
[00:07:01] Actually, I think that was one of the worst deaths
[00:07:03] in the movie was the lawyer that died on the
[00:07:05] Crap.
[00:07:06] Yes.
[00:07:07] No, that was the worst.
[00:07:08] That was the worst one.
[00:07:10] Yeah.
[00:07:10] You're like, I mean, this was quick.
[00:07:12] Yeah, but no, I would say no.
[00:07:15] I think Dennis's was worse.
[00:07:17] The guy that got that died of the crapper.
[00:07:19] No, Nedry was worse because Nedry was worse because
[00:07:22] I mean he got blinded and then guy.
[00:07:25] So he did.
[00:07:28] So as we leave Jurassic Park, you know, as we
[00:07:32] leave Jurassic Park, you know, let's let's in the
[00:07:35] world of movie and television and first and foremost,
[00:07:38] shout out to the legendary Keanu Reeves who was
[00:07:42] announced as being the voice of Shadow for Sonic 3.
[00:07:46] I got pleased talking about opinions on this right now.
[00:07:49] Oh, I can't.
[00:07:51] I see.
[00:07:52] I have mixed opinions on Keanu Reeves being Shadow.
[00:07:56] Really?
[00:07:58] I think it's a great reaction.
[00:08:00] I think it's going to awesome.
[00:08:01] I mean, I would say he just bus not going to be like, but
[00:08:05] you know what though?
[00:08:06] Everyone felt the same about you just elbow to as
[00:08:08] knuckles.
[00:08:10] So yeah, I just I'm curious as to what type of style
[00:08:16] he goes for for Shadow like we don't.
[00:08:20] I don't think we want Ted as Shadow.
[00:08:23] Yes, we do.
[00:08:24] I went to air guitar.
[00:08:25] Oh my God.
[00:08:26] Give me an air.
[00:08:27] Shadow.
[00:08:28] I was thinking I was thinking like more of a lost Leo
[00:08:32] because he's going to be created and he's going to I
[00:08:34] think he's going to question his man.
[00:08:37] Now, I think it's at least a louder but at least louder
[00:08:40] spoken.
[00:08:41] I mean, Neo was super soft spoken true true.
[00:08:45] But I think it's entertaining that Sonic is a huge Keanu
[00:08:48] Reeves fan.
[00:08:50] And Keanu is now playing Shadow.
[00:08:53] Yeah, it's oh yeah.
[00:08:54] He is a huge Henry sends in movies.
[00:08:56] Yes.
[00:08:57] All right.
[00:08:59] And then real quick, they did announce that CinemaCon and
[00:09:05] this is something that I want to get Jerry's full take
[00:09:08] on this because he is our resident expert on this.
[00:09:12] But last Ronan's getting a movie adaptation.
[00:09:17] Cool.
[00:09:18] Yeah, I heard about that.
[00:09:20] Action adaptation live action.
[00:09:22] Yep.
[00:09:24] But also it's going to be the first turtle movie that's rated
[00:09:27] R. So they're going fully in war.
[00:09:31] Yeah.
[00:09:32] So it's gonna be interesting.
[00:09:34] I wonder if they're.
[00:09:37] Yeah, I wonder how they're going to squeeze all of that
[00:09:41] and like all five issues were just I mean it's and the
[00:09:45] other thing is it's going to be a roller coaster of a movie.
[00:09:48] I hope so.
[00:09:49] I hope you do it as a trilogy all five as a
[00:09:53] trilogy would be cool with a trilogy because that means
[00:09:56] at least they can take their time and really like think of
[00:09:59] the spots where they want to end it for the next part.
[00:10:02] Yep.
[00:10:04] Because there's a lot to tell and and if like really if
[00:10:09] they ski like if they skimp on some of the some of the
[00:10:13] most important parts are like really seeing like the deaths
[00:10:17] of the other turtles and splinter and like sorry spoilers
[00:10:21] but by this time if you haven't read them, you know go read
[00:10:24] them the comments do you think that they would probably try
[00:10:27] to go the route of making that a big reveal at the end of
[00:10:33] which turtle it is in order to be a cliffhanger or like
[00:10:37] an like like the start of like the start of the what
[00:10:43] is the memory or like a dream sequence or something.
[00:10:50] I'm I'm trying to dream sequence.
[00:10:52] Just I mean like just say like or the entirety of the movie
[00:10:57] it is last ronin getting a little bit of the story of
[00:11:01] you don't know which one until they start and in the movie
[00:11:07] in order to make sure that there's a part at least a part
[00:11:10] to well technically like where I would end the first movie
[00:11:14] is the start of the memory of like a memory sequence of when
[00:11:21] the turtles like all three of them died and it starts when
[00:11:26] they bring in start with the deaths.
[00:11:28] Well, no, it's well, no at the end at the end of the
[00:11:31] first movie I would start it with it with the going back
[00:11:35] and everyone going to April's apartment because that's where
[00:11:39] it kind of starts and that's right and really the first
[00:11:42] turtle like goes off and dies.
[00:11:46] So okay where I would have I would end it but it's going to
[00:11:50] be interesting.
[00:11:51] I just hope if it's one movie.
[00:11:55] I'm going to like that's going to scare me.
[00:11:57] That's like that worry me because then like how are they
[00:12:00] gonna three hours?
[00:12:01] But can we do it?
[00:12:02] Can we agree?
[00:12:03] I can't agree on no CGI turtles.
[00:12:08] Old school dude.
[00:12:10] No, old school makeup turtles.
[00:12:11] Yes.
[00:12:12] I was going to ask you are we going og turtle design?
[00:12:16] Are we going Michael Bay?
[00:12:17] No, I don't think we have to go full duck bill.
[00:12:21] But like freaking thing is in turtles three.
[00:12:25] I would fight that far but we need not CGI.
[00:12:29] Yeah, I would fight for more practical because really
[00:12:33] they'd only have to make one turtle.
[00:12:36] Technically
[00:12:38] for most of the entire yeah because
[00:12:41] they could put the budget to one animatronic turtle.
[00:12:46] Yeah, as opposed to four.
[00:12:48] You don't do animatronic you do it.
[00:12:49] No, no animatronic.
[00:12:50] No way on my trauma guy in a suit.
[00:12:53] No, no, no like you know you guys knew what they did
[00:12:57] in the in the first two movies.
[00:12:59] So he was a portion of a suit but animatronics that made
[00:13:02] the facial expression.
[00:13:04] Okay.
[00:13:05] That's what I mean.
[00:13:06] But no, no, no like that's why you had the lip rivers
[00:13:09] in three which were ridiculous.
[00:13:11] Right.
[00:13:11] But imagine what they can do with like the budget
[00:13:14] that they get and they just have to focus on one turtle.
[00:13:18] I mean I wouldn't be objective against that because
[00:13:22] I mean like we saw up close Jerry and I very
[00:13:26] least up close the animatronics for Grogu and
[00:13:29] that was amazing.
[00:13:31] Dude, I just showed more coworkers that video.
[00:13:35] The other oh my God.
[00:13:36] Yeah, that's even they could come close to that.
[00:13:39] I would be happy.
[00:13:40] Yeah.
[00:13:42] Absolutely.
[00:13:42] But I totally agree.
[00:13:44] No CGI and it would it would almost it would almost
[00:13:48] kind of diminish those important parts of the other
[00:13:52] like the other comics.
[00:13:54] Okay.
[00:13:55] And then so of course I have to there's a lot
[00:13:57] writing initial dreamcast or we'll just stick
[00:14:02] with easy with primary turtle and April stream casting
[00:14:09] for those two roles.
[00:14:10] I mean, you know what for like that post for that post
[00:14:14] apocalyptic like really tough April.
[00:14:21] Man my first go to was Rachel McAdams.
[00:14:25] Really?
[00:14:27] Oh because I know she could deliver that that like level
[00:14:31] of like grittiness like like she's done a couple
[00:14:35] darker movies where yeah, but here's the thing is though
[00:14:39] she lives rough in that era of New York.
[00:14:42] Does they get involved though?
[00:14:44] Like and have fight sequences like she doesn't.
[00:14:47] Oh yeah.
[00:14:48] Okay.
[00:14:48] She like loses her arm.
[00:14:49] I don't think Rachel McAdams would necessarily really fit
[00:14:54] that or you know what dude Scarlet would be great.
[00:15:00] I think she'd be the right age post.
[00:15:05] It's what having those look maybe but also April and
[00:15:11] he was a little bit taller though.
[00:15:13] Yeah, I mean that's true if she if you know Tom Cruise
[00:15:18] you know at an age if she could nail the accent.
[00:15:22] I would love to seek out Kado do it.
[00:15:25] I don't know.
[00:15:29] I think she'd be she's like don't get me like that she'd
[00:15:33] be great but she's just too beautiful for that.
[00:15:36] She's just like that would be like the moment I see her
[00:15:42] is like, well, I wouldn't be like all April.
[00:15:45] I mean did you see her in Heartstone where she got
[00:15:47] all like cut up and everything like beat up?
[00:15:50] Bro I was still like, God, Kado.
[00:15:53] Yeah.
[00:15:55] All right, what about turtle?
[00:15:59] Oh man.
[00:16:02] Turtle.
[00:16:06] Because it's not the typical like personality of that
[00:16:11] turtle that you that you would know if he's more like
[00:16:14] stern and like quiet and like a quiet ronin like why Ronin.
[00:16:19] So, dang man.
[00:16:22] That's a good question.
[00:16:23] I haven't really thought about it.
[00:16:24] Think about it.
[00:16:25] I think he he just could do it.
[00:16:29] Hmm.
[00:16:31] No, no, not even with his American accent.
[00:16:37] No, too deep of a voice.
[00:16:39] I think still would you just go for the voice or would
[00:16:44] you go for the full like I mean I have to do for the voice
[00:16:48] more than anything.
[00:16:49] Oh, I mean like some people some people it's you know just
[00:16:53] like the OG Star Wars you know it's one person playing
[00:16:55] versus one person doing the voice doing the voice.
[00:16:58] Oh yeah, but you want like more of us the stunt guy is
[00:17:02] usually in the suit.
[00:17:03] Yeah, I mean like doing all that but sometimes the people
[00:17:06] in the suit are the ones that are doing the acting too
[00:17:08] that are doing the voices.
[00:17:09] Sometimes.
[00:17:10] Right.
[00:17:10] Right.
[00:17:11] Well then I wouldn't see necessarily interest elbow doing
[00:17:14] that level of choreography.
[00:17:18] It's so crazy.
[00:17:19] Yeah, he was Donny right?
[00:17:21] Yeah, just go ahead.
[00:17:22] Corey felt that he was Donny.
[00:17:25] Anyways, so I don't know.
[00:17:27] I'd really have to think about that.
[00:17:28] That'd be that's a good if the actor was taller.
[00:17:31] I would want the actor that want I'm blanking on the
[00:17:37] character's name in Shang Chi the deathbringer.
[00:17:44] The guy with the mask.
[00:17:46] Oh, oh yeah.
[00:17:48] He did all those stunts.
[00:17:50] I want him if he was taller.
[00:17:52] Yeah, because he would be like 53 and I think I think
[00:17:56] turtle needs to be at least five six maybe dollar five eight.
[00:18:03] Yeah, man, that is a that is a rough run because you have to
[00:18:06] remember because even though she's a little on the
[00:18:09] taller side still is I level with turtles.
[00:18:14] That yeah, that is true.
[00:18:16] Again, I think you can you can kind of get away with like
[00:18:20] some editing just true.
[00:18:23] I mean, you don't have to just the turtle on a box.
[00:18:27] You know, you're not getting full body shots all the time.
[00:18:29] You know, so like like dream cast turtles for me like at
[00:18:33] least I would definitely want Alan Richardson back is
[00:18:36] Rafael although I highly doubt he would ever come back
[00:18:41] and I think he said that publicly.
[00:18:43] Um, but he's great as a richer and
[00:18:49] uh, what's his face from Top Gun?
[00:18:52] He was the lone wolf dude.
[00:18:56] He was my old.
[00:18:58] He was Miles Teller's competition Glenn.
[00:19:00] Oh, Glenn Powell.
[00:19:02] I would like him maybe Donnie.
[00:19:05] And then
[00:19:09] Tara Neckerton wouldn't be too bad.
[00:19:10] But you know what?
[00:19:11] I would like I would like to maybe hear Charlie Hanum with
[00:19:14] his American, maybe Leo.
[00:19:18] But it's hard.
[00:19:18] I can't really place Mikey.
[00:19:20] I would actually want Tom Holland for Leo.
[00:19:26] Tom Holland for Leonardo.
[00:19:28] Yeah.
[00:19:30] Yeah.
[00:19:31] I could see him doing the voice well with the percussion
[00:19:35] and I mean he's already got the skills.
[00:19:38] That is true.
[00:19:40] I think a lot of people kind of like set aside his actual
[00:19:45] talent because like they're seeing Spider-Man.
[00:19:48] But I think I think you're right.
[00:19:49] Like he has the talent like he is talented.
[00:19:52] Very talented.
[00:19:53] Yeah.
[00:19:53] Well, then if you're going to do that, you might as well
[00:19:55] get Mark Wahlberg for Splinter.
[00:19:58] Don't do that.
[00:19:59] Don't do that.
[00:20:00] Oh my God.
[00:20:02] Oh, I know.
[00:20:03] I know.
[00:20:04] I know.
[00:20:04] The pair already ruined Uncharted for us.
[00:20:07] They don't need to ruin TMNT.
[00:20:08] No, no, no, the prayers didn't hold on.
[00:20:12] The fire didn't.
[00:20:14] Mark Wahlberg did.
[00:20:15] Tom Holland was a great young Drake, but young, but like
[00:20:20] the yeah everything was wacky.
[00:20:23] I saw it.
[00:20:24] Anyway, but first Blinder I would want Kevin Watanabe.
[00:20:29] And what's an army?
[00:20:30] What is the name of some familiar?
[00:20:31] I don't call he was Rachel Gould and Batman Begins.
[00:20:34] He was like in exception.
[00:20:36] Samurai in last samurai.
[00:20:39] Yep, he was in inception.
[00:20:40] The guy that they go into his was the big businessman.
[00:20:43] Yeah.
[00:20:43] Okay.
[00:20:44] So real quick, are we caught up on X-Men?
[00:20:49] Yes, I haven't even started, but you keep going.
[00:20:52] Jason, I haven't even started.
[00:20:54] What's that?
[00:20:55] Was that?
[00:20:56] Genosha.
[00:20:57] Genosha.
[00:20:58] episodes on Fridays right now.
[00:21:00] We will talk about it later then.
[00:21:02] I don't know.
[00:21:03] We'll talk about it later.
[00:21:04] You need to watch it by next week, sir.
[00:21:05] Because we will run episode six right now, right?
[00:21:11] Six launches tomorrow.
[00:21:13] Yeah, as we're recording.
[00:21:14] Or tonight.
[00:21:15] Shout out to Eric and Julia Leawall, their consultants on this.
[00:21:20] And holy, what are you doing to us?
[00:21:24] Oh, no.
[00:21:25] That's all I've seen videos that I heard it's a tear joker.
[00:21:30] It is so great.
[00:21:31] Jason, I will prepare you that you're not.
[00:21:33] You are going to be.
[00:21:35] And then I don't know if you guys heard the other news about that,
[00:21:38] but now because the resurgence of like the nineties X-Men and how
[00:21:43] much popular it is.
[00:21:44] I don't know if you guys heard, but there's a rumor going around
[00:21:47] that they're thinking about bringing back the nineties
[00:21:51] Spider-Man animated series.
[00:21:53] And because it crossed with the X-Men nineties.
[00:21:58] So it's going to now kind of connect.
[00:22:02] We're just going to wait.
[00:22:03] So am I, am I confusing that then?
[00:22:06] Because because I remember the nineties Spider-Man was Spider-Man
[00:22:11] and friends, right?
[00:22:13] No, no, no.
[00:22:14] It wasn't amazing.
[00:22:15] Spider-Man.
[00:22:16] It was the amazing Spider-Man.
[00:22:17] Yes.
[00:22:18] Was the nineties.
[00:22:19] Which one was Spider-Man and friends?
[00:22:21] Because I know that had a lot of crossover with X-Men.
[00:22:26] That one was wasn't that a little newer?
[00:22:29] Like like more for.
[00:22:30] No, it was way old dude.
[00:22:32] Oh, then no, no, that would be like.
[00:22:34] The one they're looking at specifically is just Spider-Man
[00:22:38] the animated series, which was from 1994 to 98.
[00:22:41] And it was set in the same universe as X-Men animated.
[00:22:45] So they were okay.
[00:22:47] They had three or four crossover.
[00:22:50] And it later on and stuff.
[00:22:52] Yes.
[00:22:53] So, all righty.
[00:22:56] So it's been a little bit since we've talked about layoffs,
[00:23:00] but it did break tonight a little bit before we were starting to record
[00:23:04] that 2K is going to be laying off 5% of its workforce.
[00:23:08] It's going to be hitting 2K, the private division and Rockstar.
[00:23:13] Ouch.
[00:23:15] So they're going to cancel some projects and
[00:23:21] not go forward with some games.
[00:23:23] So it's sad news to hear that 5% though is a lot less than what
[00:23:33] other companies have done.
[00:23:35] Thankfully, it's not I mean, it's not hitting gearbox specifically,
[00:23:38] which gearbox anyway knows that might recognize that name.
[00:23:42] Borderlands.
[00:23:45] They formally joined 2K a couple of weeks ago.
[00:23:51] Great to see that they're not getting layoff because we have seen
[00:23:53] companies get merged into a company and then immediately have layoffs.
[00:23:57] So it's good that it's not hitting them.
[00:23:59] So, Jason.
[00:24:02] Me.
[00:24:03] Yeah.
[00:24:04] So this one's for you that I'm going to lead into and I'm going
[00:24:07] to let you kind of, I'm anxious to see what your reactions
[00:24:11] could be to this because you are our anti Ubisoft.
[00:24:15] I'm not anti Ubisoft.
[00:24:17] Well, no.
[00:24:18] I'm paying full price for Ubisoft.
[00:24:19] Paying full price.
[00:24:20] Anyways, you're going to love this.
[00:24:22] So we all talked about Star Wars Outlaws getting announced
[00:24:25] and it's coming out August 30th.
[00:24:27] Get ready, Jason.
[00:24:28] Just get ready.
[00:24:29] Like lock and load.
[00:24:31] That's all I want to say.
[00:24:32] They did announce the prices for your additions and everything.
[00:24:37] But where they're getting tagged.
[00:24:40] Outlaws.
[00:24:41] So, you know, the standard.
[00:24:42] Oh, the additions about laws.
[00:24:43] Okay.
[00:24:44] Yep.
[00:24:45] Now, get ready for this.
[00:24:46] What they are getting backlash for is although Jabba's syndicate
[00:24:51] is going to be part of the overall story because they are one
[00:24:54] of the syndicate that's going on like Crimson Dawn and
[00:24:57] all of that, right?
[00:24:58] There is a unique mission called Jabba's Gambit
[00:25:03] that is locked behind the season pass.
[00:25:07] Oh, I heard about this.
[00:25:09] You cannot play the mission as well as the other one for
[00:25:13] Cass when it comes out.
[00:25:16] You have to have the season pass.
[00:25:19] And with that.
[00:25:21] Can you get the season pass through the deluxe edition?
[00:25:24] Right.
[00:25:25] This is so here's and this is where I want to see Jason's
[00:25:28] opinion on this is.
[00:25:30] Here's your pricing scheme.
[00:25:31] So you've got the standard edition is $69.99.
[00:25:34] It'll be the base game plus some pre-order bonuses you get
[00:25:37] just cosmetics.
[00:25:39] The gold edition for a nice sizable $40 increase.
[00:25:45] You get the standard for a season pass.
[00:25:48] Hold on.
[00:25:49] You get the base game, the season pass, pre-order bonus
[00:25:53] and three days early access like we talked about the only
[00:25:56] way to get Jabba's Gambit as well as the cast of us other
[00:26:00] mission is to spend $40 more for the season pass on day one.
[00:26:09] So if you want to play all of the content that is existing
[00:26:13] in the game at launch, you need to minimally spend $110.
[00:26:19] Ultimate wise, 130.
[00:26:22] You get the base game, everything else plus Rogan
[00:26:26] Vatredo bundle, the Saabek shark bundle and a digital art book.
[00:26:30] That's all for an extra 30 bucks or if you want, you can go
[00:26:34] subscribe to Ubisoft Plus for $18 a month and get access
[00:26:39] to the ultimate edition.
[00:26:43] You know people are going to go for the subscription.
[00:26:46] I mean, I certainly would even though I don't want to play
[00:26:49] the game.
[00:26:50] Think about it this way.
[00:26:51] I mean, if it's going to be, you can bring it back up for a
[00:26:56] second man.
[00:26:57] It's going to actually be a little funny side note, you know,
[00:27:03] because you're going to have all the stuff that you normally
[00:27:05] get.
[00:27:06] You know, it's if you're going for the game cool, you get
[00:27:09] the pre-order bonuses.
[00:27:10] That's fine.
[00:27:11] You know three days really isn't a make or break unless
[00:27:15] you're like super diehard into Star Wars or into the
[00:27:18] games.
[00:27:19] You know, like for example, like being an old Final Fantasy
[00:27:24] player.
[00:27:25] Yeah, three days is a long time for Final Fantasy because
[00:27:28] there's a lot of server firsts that people try to go for.
[00:27:32] Raid teams have to really assess the raid bosses, things
[00:27:38] like that.
[00:27:39] It's the same with World of Warcraft.
[00:27:41] Destiny would probably be the same.
[00:27:43] You have teams that are ready to go that literally take
[00:27:47] days off that just want to just go go.
[00:27:51] This is single person.
[00:27:53] I seriously doubt that if they're gatekeeping a single
[00:28:00] mission for this season pass, there's definitely not going
[00:28:03] to be anything aesthetic released within those three
[00:28:07] days other than that one mission.
[00:28:09] Yeah.
[00:28:10] And now I do want to preface this really quick because
[00:28:13] Julien Geherty is a friend of the podcast, right?
[00:28:16] He's just director on this, right?
[00:28:19] So the team at Massive probably had nothing to do with
[00:28:23] some of the overarching structure.
[00:28:24] Oh, yeah.
[00:28:25] This is all game direction that said has nothing to do
[00:28:30] with how they release or do their marketing.
[00:28:32] There's nothing.
[00:28:33] There's all business.
[00:28:35] And here's what I and here's to the point and
[00:28:37] this is why I want to do an adjacent opinion too on
[00:28:39] this is because we all know that within a couple of months
[00:28:42] this is going to be 50% off on all the platforms.
[00:28:45] Yeah.
[00:28:46] So why, why really do some except for the season pass?
[00:28:50] No.
[00:28:51] And season pass will still be 40 bucks.
[00:28:52] There's a thing.
[00:28:53] A lot of things.
[00:28:54] Think about this.
[00:28:55] We'll do the gold edition for half off like they did
[00:28:57] all these Sassan's creeds.
[00:28:58] No, but I mean think of it this way.
[00:29:00] A lot of season passes that you know of like
[00:29:02] whether it be fighting games, add on content,
[00:29:05] DLCs, etc, etc.
[00:29:07] All of them get broken up at some point in time.
[00:29:10] Yep.
[00:29:11] So you don't eventually you can get those
[00:29:14] the reason why those skins or those extras.
[00:29:17] Yeah.
[00:29:18] After the season pass expires they release it for free.
[00:29:21] It's just because the season pass will give you
[00:29:23] everything you don't have to worry about
[00:29:25] additional payment like, you know, $5 here,
[00:29:29] $5 there just giving me everything for $40
[00:29:32] and you don't have to think about it.
[00:29:34] You know, just think about like let's say
[00:29:36] what's a good one?
[00:29:38] Destiny.
[00:29:39] Destiny.
[00:29:40] Destiny.
[00:29:41] Destiny.
[00:29:42] You have season pass.
[00:29:43] Yeah, but I mean like you have expansion packs
[00:29:46] which you know expansions for the base game
[00:29:49] and a lot of times those are in the season
[00:29:51] season pass, you know like you get
[00:29:54] let's say expansion 1, 2 and 3 in the season pass
[00:29:57] or 40 or you can buy them all individually
[00:30:00] for $25.
[00:30:01] Oh, then Destiny is not a good example then.
[00:30:03] Well, no, hold on.
[00:30:04] Destiny, Destiny specifically the expansions
[00:30:07] they include always include the full campaign
[00:30:11] in the expansion and season passes completely
[00:30:14] side stuff that's just further down the line
[00:30:16] if you're continuing to play after campaign.
[00:30:18] Here's my thing is I think season passes.
[00:30:21] Ooh, are you getting a visitor with you?
[00:30:23] I'm getting a doggy.
[00:30:24] You're just getting two doggies.
[00:30:26] Oh, look at the little doggy in the window.
[00:30:29] Anyways, so I think for games like Destiny
[00:30:31] where it's a live service like Paula Doody, right?
[00:30:34] I think season passes are fine, right?
[00:30:37] It makes sense.
[00:30:38] It's a single player game.
[00:30:40] Single player story, single player experience.
[00:30:42] And this no offense.
[00:30:43] And that makes zero sense to have a season pass on.
[00:30:45] And this drove me crazy about Arkham Knight
[00:30:48] is that they did the same damn thing with that game.
[00:30:51] Right? They did a season pass
[00:30:52] and did all those extra missions
[00:30:54] and everything later on which those in them themselves
[00:30:59] they were big enough to warrant that they were DLC, right?
[00:31:02] You know, the Robin mission of Harley Quinn
[00:31:04] and they were great.
[00:31:05] But here's the thing is this is a,
[00:31:08] it's a singular mission that is going to be available in the game
[00:31:12] at launch but it's essentially locked behind a $40 paywall.
[00:31:15] And it's not gonna be worth it.
[00:31:17] And honestly, it's probably gonna be like a 20 minute mission too.
[00:31:20] Not even.
[00:31:21] Maybe like an hour mission, you know,
[00:31:23] a little paywall, sidetrack.
[00:31:25] This is something that has become,
[00:31:27] is becoming more and more of a standard for these companies
[00:31:29] that I get it, you need to try to recoup expenses.
[00:31:32] Well, maybe look at doing other,
[00:31:34] maybe start looking at other things, right?
[00:31:37] Yes, you don't want micro transactions.
[00:31:40] You know, maybe just do it as DLC content
[00:31:42] and be like here, 20 bucks, you get this pack of DLC.
[00:31:45] There you go, right?
[00:31:46] But we are normalizing DLC.
[00:31:49] We're normalizing season passes
[00:31:51] that frankly it's like,
[00:31:54] I think if this was launching like later on, right?
[00:31:57] You have FF 16 is doing a season pass, right?
[00:32:00] Where you could get two DLC contents for the game.
[00:32:03] The first ones get,
[00:32:04] the first one's getting ready to just come out, right?
[00:32:06] So it's were months past the launch of FF 16, right?
[00:32:11] Oh yeah.
[00:32:12] And now they're basically saying,
[00:32:14] okay, here's gonna be the new download content, right?
[00:32:17] This on the other hand is shit that is in the game at launch.
[00:32:21] It's not coming down the pipe.
[00:32:22] It's there.
[00:32:23] Yeah.
[00:32:24] I think if anything,
[00:32:26] I'm personally all four season passes in the idea of it allowing companies
[00:32:34] to essentially have a little bit more time
[00:32:36] and having that promise that more is to come.
[00:32:39] But I think there needs to be a standard for season passes
[00:32:42] of what quality and level of content is included for season passes.
[00:32:47] If it's a season pass where it's like aesthetics,
[00:32:50] no, that doesn't need to be in there.
[00:32:52] That's micro transactions.
[00:32:54] You're just trying to group them,
[00:32:56] bundle them up together and do nothing.
[00:32:59] Whereas like if we get full on essentially a DLC
[00:33:03] or an expansion as part of a season pass where like,
[00:33:06] okay, you originally were going to do $20 per expansion this,
[00:33:11] but we can bundle it together for 40 bucks
[00:33:14] for three total expansions.
[00:33:16] So you're buying three for the price of two.
[00:33:18] I'm all for that as long as the content's there.
[00:33:21] Which is what they actually used to do back in the day.
[00:33:25] Like I remember, like some deluxe or gold editions or whatever,
[00:33:33] the perks and the swag that came with it,
[00:33:39] it did urge you to want to go for it more.
[00:33:44] Let's talk about this.
[00:33:45] The last few years it seems way more of a cash grab
[00:33:50] and just another way to kind of, as you said Matt,
[00:33:54] put a paywall on certain entities of game.
[00:33:57] This is the thing though.
[00:33:58] So we've gone from DLCs to now a quote unquote season pass
[00:34:05] and it's just making it, and I always laugh at this too,
[00:34:08] it just makes it quote unquote easier for the buyer to just,
[00:34:12] okay, I'm going to grab everything at one time
[00:34:15] and it's going to be automatically updated
[00:34:17] whenever it comes out.
[00:34:19] But for a lot of people that don't notice it,
[00:34:22] it's going to be a lot of fluff when all you need is the base stuff.
[00:34:27] Again, like you guys said, a lot of stuff.
[00:34:30] And this is coming the best way I can put it
[00:34:34] is easily in the fighting game community.
[00:34:37] Fighting game community season pass is like,
[00:34:42] amazing.
[00:34:43] The reason why is because you get,
[00:34:45] for example, Mortal Kombat, you get like,
[00:34:49] I forgot who the first one was,
[00:34:50] but then you get the Omni-
[00:34:51] You get new characters and new characters.
[00:34:53] So Smash Bros. Smash Bros had a season pass too.
[00:34:56] You got new characters, you got access to different parts
[00:34:58] or Archimers if that was the type of thing.
[00:35:00] Yeah, you get characters, skins.
[00:35:02] And you get tense for you to upgrade.
[00:35:03] Well, it's real quick.
[00:35:04] You got level, all this craziness.
[00:35:07] Let's look at Arkham Origins and Arkham Knight.
[00:35:10] Okay.
[00:35:11] Arkham Origins, when it launched,
[00:35:13] it had a $20 season pass.
[00:35:14] Arkham Knight was $40.
[00:35:16] So it was timed content though.
[00:35:18] Like to Jason's point, right?
[00:35:19] You as long in Theo's point, right?
[00:35:21] They're having time content.
[00:35:22] You had season pass exclusives for Origins.
[00:35:26] Then November 12th, they came out with,
[00:35:29] you know, this was just all skins.
[00:35:31] All skins.
[00:35:32] And then, you know, November 26th,
[00:35:35] a couple of weeks later, it was all skins.
[00:35:36] Oops, all skins.
[00:35:38] And then in December, you had five challenge maps
[00:35:41] that got added.
[00:35:42] And then at the end, April 22nd,
[00:35:45] so basically well over a year after it's already launched,
[00:35:49] you got a story hack called Cold Cold Heart.
[00:35:53] Okay.
[00:35:54] Then you look at Arkham Knight.
[00:35:55] That was $20.
[00:35:56] Look at the price points.
[00:35:57] That was $20.
[00:35:58] Go back to the price points of all those.
[00:36:00] That's $20.
[00:36:01] So you had $5, $5.
[00:36:03] So that's 10 plus 7, 17.
[00:36:06] So for 20, it was $27 of content.
[00:36:09] You saved almost 10 bucks.
[00:36:11] However, right?
[00:36:12] How many of those are skins?
[00:36:15] $10 worth of skins, right?
[00:36:17] $10 worth of skins.
[00:36:18] Yep.
[00:36:19] Exactly.
[00:36:20] And it's again, I'm trying to,
[00:36:21] this is what I kind of get pissed off with
[00:36:23] about season passes because you get a lot of fluff.
[00:36:26] $10 you didn't need to spend,
[00:36:28] but instead you get a $20 season pass,
[00:36:32] but you only get $17 of content.
[00:36:37] Content.
[00:36:38] Look at Arkham Knight.
[00:36:39] My guy looks 40 bucks.
[00:36:41] Wow, cool.
[00:36:42] Good on you.
[00:36:43] So you had the Flashpoint skin.
[00:36:45] That was June 23rd as a season pass exclusive.
[00:36:49] Then you had the first appearance of Batman,
[00:36:51] that costume, a dollar.
[00:36:53] Then you had Prototype Batmobile,
[00:36:55] which is just cosmetic.
[00:36:57] More skin.
[00:36:58] That was $2.
[00:36:59] Then you have actual story content for Harley and Red Hood.
[00:37:06] The Harley Quinn one was good.
[00:37:08] Then you had a Matter of the Family,
[00:37:10] which was Batgirl that was $7.
[00:37:14] But then you have a skin.
[00:37:17] A skin.
[00:37:18] Skin.
[00:37:19] Another grouping of skins.
[00:37:21] Skin and Batmobile skin pack.
[00:37:24] This one was cool because you got two different,
[00:37:28] essentially tracks for,
[00:37:30] I mean everybody knows plays Arkham.
[00:37:32] There's tracks you got to race on, right?
[00:37:34] But you got the 1989 Batman skin.
[00:37:38] But you can buy it for yourself for two bucks.
[00:37:41] Then after that you had the Crime Fighter pack,
[00:37:44] which was just more challenges and stuff.
[00:37:48] Then you had the 2008 Tumbler,
[00:37:51] which was basically the Tumbler and race tracks.
[00:37:55] Then you had the Crime Fighter pack.
[00:37:56] Then you had the GCP lockdown,
[00:37:58] which was a story pack.
[00:38:00] Then more skins.
[00:38:02] Then Crime Fighter.
[00:38:04] Then you had Catwoman Story Pack.
[00:38:07] Flip of the coin.
[00:38:09] If I remember correctly, that was Two-Face themed.
[00:38:14] Then you had skins, skins, Crime Fighter,
[00:38:18] skins, skins, Season of Infamy,
[00:38:23] which was an actual legit, more full-on story add-on.
[00:38:27] More Crime Fighter pack, then skins, skins, skins.
[00:38:31] Then Community Pack.
[00:38:34] Even this, yeah there's a good amount of content in it.
[00:38:39] But again, it's mostly skins.
[00:38:44] Mostly skins.
[00:38:46] How many of those?
[00:38:48] I mean granted that one, a lot better
[00:38:51] because the timeline of all the things that release
[00:38:55] is a lot more like, hey.
[00:38:57] And some of those last portion of skins in DLC.
[00:39:02] The game has already been out almost a year, year and a half.
[00:39:06] I do feel it's more in the latter of it was worth it
[00:39:09] because they continued giving more.
[00:39:12] Yeah, you keep getting more and more.
[00:39:14] And Season of Infamy added a lot of content to it.
[00:39:17] And it's still going to depend on the game type too.
[00:39:21] Like Jason was saying for game type with fighters,
[00:39:25] characters tends to be good enough.
[00:39:29] You don't need to try to branch off for anything with that.
[00:39:33] Destiny I feel is a good representation of good Season Pass content
[00:39:40] because every season that's within the Season Pass
[00:39:44] you get a whole new story, a whole new story,
[00:39:47] a whole new different game activity in order to do it.
[00:39:52] There's things to chase for within those activities.
[00:39:55] Armorsets, weapons always come with it.
[00:39:57] And there's almost always a new release of a new dungeon.
[00:40:00] Like there's a considerable amount of content that is yes,
[00:40:05] it's still in the game by design and it's time gated
[00:40:10] or behind a paywall because it won't actually install until it's ready.
[00:40:16] And once the season is over, the season is over.
[00:40:20] But this is like, this is DLC that...
[00:40:23] Destiny specifically, you can still play the old seasons
[00:40:26] until the next expansion comes out.
[00:40:29] But my thing with this though is you're taking a mission
[00:40:33] that is in the game at launch.
[00:40:37] And basically saying if you want to play this, you got to fork over $40.
[00:40:40] I mean it's not unheard of. Again, you...
[00:40:43] Okay but these Season Passes though just that we were looking at?
[00:40:46] It was future content though.
[00:40:48] It was coming down the pipe.
[00:40:50] I think there needs to be more easer into what the Season Pass content will include.
[00:40:58] Yeah, exactly.
[00:41:00] If it's like a matter of a good amount of other missions
[00:41:07] and paywalling a taster, maybe I still hate it.
[00:41:13] I still hate that they're doing a paywall for a single mission right now.
[00:41:17] Because they're not going to start...
[00:41:19] At least I wouldn't believe that they're going to start anything with Season Pass content
[00:41:24] other than that one mission at launch.
[00:41:27] Because no game would do that.
[00:41:29] Because you're just going to completely go away from your primary story and campaign
[00:41:34] if you're going to start with Season Pass content.
[00:41:37] Yeah, I'm okay with Season Pass content for things like...
[00:41:44] I mean honestly the biggest issue here is the pricing
[00:41:48] and the way they're paywalling the content.
[00:41:51] I mean we don't have a problem with wanting to pay for the content as long as it's worth it.
[00:41:55] But...
[00:41:56] Well no, because I mean like...
[00:41:57] And you're paywalling it at launch.
[00:41:59] I think I know where Matt's kind of going.
[00:42:02] Because imagine if you had a Season Pass paywall for a mission on Red Dead 2.
[00:42:09] How pissed off would you have been if you needed to paywall a single mission
[00:42:13] on Red Dead 2 even though we all know all of Red Dead 2 was out at once?
[00:42:17] I would be even more pissed because one...
[00:42:19] I'm already paying like an absolute pay for it.
[00:42:22] But that's the kind of game I feel Outlaws is going to be like, is like a Red Dead 2
[00:42:26] and it should just be everything that you're going to do should be out.
[00:42:29] Exactly. That single player ask which I totally agree.
[00:42:32] Or...
[00:42:33] That's the whole thing.
[00:42:34] The price points are ridiculous to where it doesn't make sense.
[00:42:38] And it's... yeah.
[00:42:39] Or pay... see this is where I look at it.
[00:42:41] I'm fine with like what Square did with FF16.
[00:42:44] They're saying this Season Pass is going to cover these two DLCs when they come out in the future.
[00:42:50] Yep.
[00:42:51] Right.
[00:42:52] Okay.
[00:42:53] They didn't say, hey, this mission or this quest is available at launch only if you pay $40 to do it right here and now.
[00:43:02] That's one mission.
[00:43:03] That's where I have the problem with this is that it's at launch
[00:43:08] and if you want to do it, you have to fork over $40 and you don't know purely what the roadmap is for DLC completely down the road.
[00:43:15] Yeah.
[00:43:16] The only silver lining with that is that it's not $40 only for the mission.
[00:43:21] I mean, you still get the Season Pass and I think that's the only minor silver lining with that.
[00:43:26] What if the game fails though? That's the thing.
[00:43:28] That's the thing with a lot of the season pass stuff.
[00:43:31] What if the game fails?
[00:43:32] And they're stuck into that season pass.
[00:43:34] You're doomed already into $40.
[00:43:37] I mean, like, forks like bringing back the fighting game community again because it's so they do it well.
[00:43:44] They do the fighting pass.
[00:43:45] They do the season passes well.
[00:43:47] I think you make such a great point because like if you buy the season pass and get a single mission,
[00:43:53] they essentially have fulfilled their terms of services and shit in order to not have to refund any money for season pass.
[00:44:02] Here's your answer.
[00:44:04] Only available for pre-order with Gold, Ultimate and UPSoft.
[00:44:08] That's for a three day early access but season pass.
[00:44:11] Expand your galactic journey with the season pass unlock two additional narrative expansions coming after launch.
[00:44:17] A day one exclusive mission with Java and additional cosmetics.
[00:44:20] That's it.
[00:44:21] No, that's what the asterisk says is for the Gold, Ultimate, and UPSoft.
[00:44:25] No, what it's saying is yeah, you can only get it, you know, with season pass.
[00:44:29] So that means they're not having season passes only available on those editions.
[00:44:33] As of right now then that means you're not even going to get the option to buy a season pass later.
[00:44:37] This is what made the sound set.
[00:44:39] And that even makes this more of a craft.
[00:44:41] If they do that, that's all horrible, horrible model.
[00:44:45] I've never heard of something that they wouldn't sell the season pass separately.
[00:44:50] It would just be more expensive if you don't bundle it.
[00:44:53] So at this point, what they're basically saying is you're going to get three missions and cosmetics.
[00:45:00] And for the season pass?
[00:45:03] For 40 bucks.
[00:45:05] That's what they're telling you.
[00:45:06] Overall, it would be okay.
[00:45:09] Overall, however, I'm saying is but there's no track record of this game that's going to be like, oh, how is it?
[00:45:21] It's still in pre-order stage.
[00:45:25] So I'm just saying like, there's nothing you can say, oh, hey, how was that before?
[00:45:32] You know, all we can do is say, hey, how has Ubisoft been with previous season pass slash DLCs?
[00:45:39] I mean, here's my thing is, I'm definitely going to take a chance on the game.
[00:45:44] I don't think so.
[00:45:48] Here's my problem is right now, other companies make it available, the season pass available outside of Gold Editions or whatever.
[00:45:58] They do it later.
[00:46:00] Here's my thing is because it's a new IP essentially, I mean for Ubisoft.
[00:46:05] I mean, yes, it's Star Wars but it's new IP, right?
[00:46:08] It's a new story and everything within the Star Wars universe first.
[00:46:11] I think it's going to do well just because it's Julian.
[00:46:14] Julian is a great player but that being said is for me, I would want to just go with especially money the way it is right now for most people around the world.
[00:46:24] $70 is a chunk.
[00:46:26] So if I want to take a chance on it and...
[00:46:29] But we saw $70 for games like year over year ago coming.
[00:46:34] Well, no, but what I'm saying is though is I'm going to take a chance on this at $70.
[00:46:38] But I'm going to feel like locked out now because I didn't spend the $110 to get the Gold Edition so I can get the season pass because if they're not going to make the season pass available later on, then this is an absolute bullshit move on the part of Ubisoft.
[00:46:53] I kind of have a feeling that like not to defend anything because I still hate the whole idea but I would think from a content perspective that you would receive a good amount or enough for the base as you should or a base no matter what.
[00:47:14] Like this is an extra mission and as well as I don't think we really fully understand whether or not it's a replay worthy of a replayable mission or what you get out of the mission.
[00:47:26] Right. If you even get anything out of the mission, like if it's anything about or grinding for something like I don't know enough about outlaws whether or not this is going to be a game that's worth grinding for depending on what you are grinding for.
[00:47:43] Because I mean like Red Dead, like we know from Jerry's like you got to get that fish. You got to get that skins, the perfect skin and only ways to get that but I mean like are you going to do that?
[00:47:54] Leave Animal Crossing out of this.
[00:47:55] Outlaws? I don't think so.
[00:47:56] Exactly.
[00:47:57] Like this was something that happened to like Animal Crossing or even Zelda. Like I'd be pissed too.
[00:48:04] So it'll be interesting to see what happens with this and what Ubisoft really comes back with because they basically just said that hey to clarify Jabba the Hutt and his cartel are one of the main syndicates and it'll be part of the experience for everyone who purchases the game regardless of the addition.
[00:48:21] It's just that quest, Jabba's Gambit is only.
[00:48:26] To their side I kind of think that they made this smart decision of making Ubisoft Plus the most attractive package and because it's only $18 for all of that stuff and you can still play some other stuff while you're waiting.
[00:48:41] So it's in essence it's the most attractive price out of all the bundles.
[00:48:46] If you don't continue with your subscription you lose your game.
[00:48:52] But if you beat the game in one win, wouldn't you done?
[00:48:55] I mean but also like.
[00:48:57] I mean what have we ever been done with games?
[00:49:03] I'm 85 hours into Final Fantasy and I'm still not done.
[00:49:07] Exactly.
[00:49:09] And like you said it's been out for like close to a month so you're going to be roped in for the next month but then there's going to be a new game out in a couple months and then you get going.
[00:49:18] Ubisoft Plus subscription again I would be with you on that one because I mean think about it you're getting the game which is a let's say $70 value.
[00:49:28] You're getting the extra mission.
[00:49:30] We said it was $18 right?
[00:49:32] So let's round up to $20.
[00:49:34] So to get to that $110 we'll say it's like seven months.
[00:49:38] Six months.
[00:49:39] We'll say six, seven months whatever.
[00:49:41] Yeah.
[00:49:42] And then you got all that play for without needing to just pay it all up in one.
[00:49:46] So you can stop and then at the same time they do add on whatever Ubisoft Plus games they have in the catalog whatever it may be.
[00:49:54] So maybe Assassin Creed 1, 2, 3, whatever Black Flag you know all those assassin creeds if they have it maybe Division you know who knows what's going to be in there.
[00:50:05] I don't know like I'm not going to get it.
[00:50:07] The difference is the season pass for Division was allowed you could buy it separately and it was damn well worth it.
[00:50:14] I know but I mean like that could be in that.
[00:50:16] I'm pretty sure they'll still allow it at launch that you can buy the season pass.
[00:50:20] It might be.
[00:50:21] Yeah, it might.
[00:50:22] Maybe they'll just change their mind because there's so much backlash but real quick.
[00:50:27] It's going to be what it is you know like they Ubisoft just doesn't know what they want to try and do.
[00:50:34] They try to copy everyone else which fair enough you know that when business models work they work but they just aren't doing it correctly with how they're presenting of.
[00:50:44] Single player game fighting games you need to pass.
[00:50:47] Well to play games you need to do your game of services as a service though I still I still fear it.
[00:50:53] I don't want I don't want Ubisoft Plus and Game Pass and stuff to be like that.
[00:50:59] Flix and Hulu and Paramount Plus and all this crap.
[00:51:02] I don't need this.
[00:51:03] I don't need this.
[00:51:05] Now that that being said we do love Ubi they've supported us for a long time.
[00:51:10] Oh, I love their content.
[00:51:11] Yeah, I love their games.
[00:51:12] I just now I can't wait for out.
[00:51:14] It's like Julia makes great amazing games because he's an amazing game director but it's these corporate.
[00:51:21] Business side and that's what I want to say is the one thing we've always done regardless of where we sit and sometimes it costs him if we love the creative side.
[00:51:30] We are always fair and balanced and we always call companies out for whatever BS they're trying to pull.
[00:51:38] We've done it with Xbox and PlayStation and Nintendo and everything.
[00:51:41] So real quick rude.
[00:51:44] As we were this is going to be having a indie direct tomorrow.
[00:51:49] That's gonna be about 20 minutes to show some of the new indies that are coming to the PlayStation switch.
[00:51:54] And then it was also announced that Nintendo issued a statement just the other day that read after careful consideration from all perspectives.
[00:52:05] We've made the decision not to be present at Gamescom 2024 players will have opportunities to try out Nintendo switch games at other events throughout the year.
[00:52:14] So why are they picked specifically gamescom because that's the one that's the next one up though.
[00:52:20] That's the next big one.
[00:52:21] But that's the one in Germany right?
[00:52:23] Yes, it's international.
[00:52:24] Okay.
[00:52:25] Yep.
[00:52:26] And then you'll have Tokyo game show after that being the next big one.
[00:52:28] So it'll be interesting.
[00:52:31] I know IGN was supposed to be trying to do something like an IGN live in June and I have not heard a single thing about it since they announced it.
[00:52:41] So I feel like people are underestimating how difficult it is to just throw a con of any sorts.
[00:52:48] Like it's especially for notice.
[00:52:51] It's difficult.
[00:52:53] Yeah.
[00:52:54] So people just need to show up and just like they'll want to come.
[00:53:00] Well, we do want to come but you've got to give us some more info here.
[00:53:04] No, I meant like exhibitors wanting to come.
[00:53:09] So real quick, I got something for collector's corner.
[00:53:13] I don't order these from England.
[00:53:17] Oh really?
[00:53:18] So as we know, I'm a big Star Trek fan and I do collect some of the ships.
[00:53:24] What?
[00:53:25] Yes.
[00:53:26] The ships?
[00:53:27] Nah.
[00:53:28] You like flying things?
[00:53:29] Never.
[00:53:30] The company that made these went out of business.
[00:53:33] So there's a company called Master Replicas which does a lot of like movie statues and stuff like that.
[00:53:38] They got a hold of the inventory almost.
[00:53:41] So I got in the USS Titan which is Riker's ship after he took his first chair.
[00:53:53] So this is after the Enterprise.
[00:53:55] So after the events of Star Trek Insurrection, he goes on to become a captain.
[00:54:00] And this is his actual first ship.
[00:54:02] I figured you know what?
[00:54:03] I've met the man himself.
[00:54:05] This ship deserves to be next to his sign print.
[00:54:08] That's right.
[00:54:10] And then I also got a hold of which is one of my favorite shows though is the NX01 which is the original Enterprise.
[00:54:20] There you go.
[00:54:21] From Enterprise with Scott Bacchus, Captain Archer.
[00:54:24] So yeah, so I got these in finally.
[00:54:28] I ordered them the end of either the last week of March or the second to last week of March.
[00:54:36] So it took a good couple of weeks to get here from England.
[00:54:41] Now if we happen to get some Star Trek actors again this year at Fan Expo.
[00:54:48] Taking those with you?
[00:54:50] Get them signed?
[00:54:51] These? No.
[00:54:52] You need the base sign?
[00:54:55] It depends on who it is because these ships are very specific.
[00:55:00] I know I'm definitely visiting Lana again.
[00:55:03] I'm getting her pop sign.
[00:55:05] I'm definitely getting that.
[00:55:07] Yeah, you're going to see the Triumph ones.
[00:55:08] I do want to go see Michelle Herd.
[00:55:10] She played Rothfee on Picard.
[00:55:14] So cool.
[00:55:16] Oh my God.
[00:55:18] That's awesome.
[00:55:19] Awesome!
[00:55:20] His black light version.
[00:55:22] Oh, that's so cool.
[00:55:24] That's my little stitch.
[00:55:28] Yeah, so we went way off rails talking about it.
[00:55:34] Oh really?
[00:55:35] Wow, what a shock!
[00:55:37] Oh my God.
[00:55:39] Us?
[00:55:40] We say we went off rails.
[00:55:43] This was totally scripted the whole time.
[00:55:46] We plan ahead.
[00:55:47] We do this content for our listeners like months in advance.
[00:55:51] So real quick, B.O. did website got updated for Fan Expo.
[00:55:57] Don Bluth is going to be there.
[00:56:00] I don't know who Don Bluth is.
[00:56:02] Anybody who grew up in the 80s knows who Don Bluth cartoon movies were.
[00:56:06] Well, that would just be you.
[00:56:08] American Tale.
[00:56:10] You say that you're trying to act young.
[00:56:12] I know you're trying but it's not working.
