Episode 285 - San Diego Comic-Con 2024 In Review

On this episode of the podcast, the boys are back from San Diego Comic-Con to give our thoughts on the shower overall and the Hall H announcements.

[00:00:00] And with that, I want to welcome everybody to Crashing Game Night. My name is Matt Diorio, your host as always. Tonight, the Beanie One's running a little bit late so we're getting started without him.

[00:00:39] Eventually, but fresh from a tour of San Diego Comic-Con is the babyface one, Theo Walski. What's up everybody? Yes, my wallet hates me and San Diego Comic-Con loves me right now for how much money I spent. But I'm here and ready to have some fun.

[00:01:01] Yeah, and we'll definitely get into Comic-Con and stuff like that. But first, I would be remiss if I didn't talk about something that is happening right here in our state of Colorado. It's making national news.

[00:01:18] Right now we've got now two wildfires that are burning that are actually within roughly about 30 minutes of where I live. Granted, where I live here, there's no threat of the forest fires getting here, but it's just the fact that one is burning up outside of Loveland.

[00:01:37] It doubled in its size today. It's now up to 3,500 acres with a massive evacuation zone. And then another one started today just outside right there in the town of Lyons, which those of our listeners that can remember Colorado having the massive flood back in 2013,

[00:01:57] Lyons was devastated by the flood. And now the evacuation zone runs all the way up to the main, it's Main Street, but it's basically Highway 36 that runs through town and goes up to S.S. Park. So it is now under mandatory evacuations.

[00:02:14] And it started off as a little tiny 80-acre fire this afternoon, and it's now up near 400 acres already. So yeah, so right now just thoughts go out to all the people that are having to evacuate out of those areas.

[00:02:32] Hopefully if you've got livestock, you've been able to get them out. Boulder County Fairgrounds where I live, they were set up for taking livestock. They've already reached capacity already. So they're having to send people to other facilities or going down to Jefferson County

[00:02:52] Fairgrounds and stuff like that, and a gill pin to basically have a place for those animals to stay and stuff like that. So I hope everybody's staying safe. They're not trying to get back into the areas with anybody knowing about it to try and

[00:03:06] get some belongings and stuff like that. It's kind of hectic because these guys, it's kind of like the Marshall fire that we had out here a couple years ago out in Lewisville where these folks had zero warning. Got to go.

[00:03:21] So they pretty much left with what they had pretty much probably on their backs. So anyways, and then also two is right there at the start of Comic Con. The video voice video game voice actors went on strike.

[00:03:42] So it is similar to what the strike was for the actual like live performance actors. Everything except in this turn, you know, was agreed upon except the one piece and that's for AI. As we saw with the writers or the writer strike and then the actor strike both

[00:04:04] they're all concerned about AI and how these companies studios are wanting to use AI for things. So I think it's it's warranted because like you got actors like actresses like Jennifer Hale, Nolan North, right?

[00:04:20] They don't want to basically have their name go into just a data bank that these companies can just use in perpetuity, you know, and not make money off of it. So I have, you know, we.

[00:04:34] We'll talk about, you know, some of the new games and stuff that are coming out and stuff like that. But unfortunately, some of these actors are going to be. Not able to join the podcast as a guest because of the strike, because certain

[00:04:47] things are going to be in there. You know, they're all talking out against the strike and whatnot. So. Hopefully this one ends soon. You know, it's a it's a minor sticking point. Everything else has been agreed upon. It's like 24 or 25 points have been agreed upon. So that's good.

[00:05:06] Yes, it's just the A.I. piece. That's it. Now there is some things in in place that these voice actors could still do non-union work if they wanted to. Most of them don't do it anyways.

[00:05:18] But there's also a tiered contract in place that some of these studios could sign. It's kind of like an interim agreement that, hey, we're going to agree to all of your demands. We just want to work, you know? Oh, OK.

[00:05:30] Because it's basically major players that the agreement is with. So. Anyways, so let's kind of make me wonder how that works out for like people trying to break into the industry to like, yeah, it's going to end up changing

[00:05:48] like anything that's written moving forward or just for the union in general. Yeah, I don't know how that's going to. Impact things. It'll be interesting to see how it does and what the new contract does. But. But yeah, so. With that, let's talk some.

[00:06:07] San Diego Comic Con, because there was some major news. That you and Gerard were there to witness and I hate you guys for it. Yes. Anyways, there was a couple of things going around that I want to talk to you about too.

[00:06:24] But anyway, there was a dedication in order to get that. So, yeah, so let's talk about that. So how like. How was it first? Like overall, how was this year's Comic Con for you compared to years past?

[00:06:40] So each time that we go, we end up agreeing that we like learn new things each time that we go. So like a great example last year is that they had their exclusives portal. Which we both completely forgot about and completely missed out on.

[00:07:04] Apparently, because like a big thing to watch out for is if you have tickets and you're looking for how to do things or what plans are, make sure you watch the two can blog because they tell you everything that you need to know. Blog, the two can blog.

[00:07:22] OK, the official SECC blog. But I ended up like logging in. I was like, huh, we haven't done exclusives yet. It was like a login on July 19th and get to the blog. And they're like, oh, yep, closed on closed on July 18th. Like, oh, OK, awesome.

[00:07:46] But for anybody that doesn't know, the exclusives portal is so that way you can get a session to where that you can go purchase the SEC exclusive for specific boots that are extremely popular. In particular, for me is like Funkoville, which was definitely gone really quick.

[00:08:04] We didn't even get that last year. Other places like UCC distributing for some fun exclusive for me or another one that actually joined this year, which is 100 percent soft that Jerry has made me a big fan of their work,

[00:08:20] which is really for this are little dumpster fires and the dumpster fires and enamel pins. However, we got pretty lucky this year. We missed out on these was this portal, but due to determination and a lot of luck, we managed to get into lines for 100 percent soft.

[00:08:43] And you see, see on the first day once they opened it up to the general public. So that way we could get the best that we could for with pertaining to exclusives. So like for 100 percent soft, we got really close.

[00:09:00] So we and we missed out on the dead pool dumpster fire that was X force. Oh, however, we did get the regular dead pool dumpster fire, which I personally thought was a little bit better because he's doing a little heart on top of the dumpster fire.

[00:09:19] So it was pretty good. But that I don't have to show with me today because as I overdid it a little bit more this year. So there's a lot of stuff back at you right now. Otherwise, I would show it.

[00:09:36] But otherwise, otherwise they have like really cool things such as you can share bad vibes. Oh, you really want to share bad vibes, though? I mean, you can wear a bad but I don't know if they're super cute and everything and you got lucky the pizza.

[00:10:05] Otherwise, yeah, we keep learning things. So then let's go real quick with us going to LA, Comic Con in October. Yeah, like how are you getting all your back? I'm bringing basically a huge empty suitcase. Are you checking a bag? On the way back, probably.

[00:10:30] But actually, I don't know because I mean, like we saw me at Denver fan expo. I didn't necessarily purchase very much. That's right. I'm primarily brought this stuff with me. I have a feeling that's going to be the same case with LA Comic Con.

[00:10:44] However, knowing us, we will be going to Franken Suns, which I hear. I hear you drop some more money at Franken Suns. That's where I like definitely went overboard or like definitely crossed over. We're like, pretty sure the suitcase that I brought with me this time

[00:11:02] would not work the second time. So I'm going to have to go bigger. But yeah, we definitely learned some things that we got very lucky on Friday. So we busted out a lot on Friday from a purchase standpoint.

[00:11:15] We kind of saved Artist Alley for later, which was good. But yeah, each time that we go, we were learning new things and it kind of helps us plan and also make it to where

[00:11:27] that we enjoy it the way that we want it as best as we can. So like Thursday was or Thursday was first day. Friday was all about getting to the Marvel Legends Hasbro panel because how was that? It was very cool. They got some good stuff coming out.

[00:11:47] I'm pretty excited. Jerry's definitely excited. We were disappointed that they did not do a raffle this time. They were not very prepared. I'll let Jerry tell the story about last year's raffle. But this year, they were not quite prepared. They did do giveaways.

[00:12:07] However, they're like, oh, we're just going to pass these out. And then like half a second later, you see half the hall just bum rush the front of the hall. And I was like, oh, OK. We're mixed with these kinds of people in my mind.

[00:12:23] I was like, man, there's people's manners. Come on, we have them. They exist. But we did did finally figure out the next day line of San Diego Comic Con for Hall H. Yeah, and that's completely weird. So one you go behind the convention center into the harbor.

[00:12:50] And there's this big park out there. They they let you know is like, hey, we're going to start passing out wristbands at like eight o'clock. So yeah, OK. So we figured like we should probably get in line pretty early. We figured like two hours.

[00:13:04] Yeah, probably still guarantee us. So we even got we even did good and we got two and a half hours in early. Lo and behold, we thought we were doing pretty good until the wristbands start getting passed out at eight o'clock.

[00:13:21] And we couldn't see anybody getting passes until three hours later. And we didn't get our wristbands until 11 p.m. So we were in line for our wristbands for five and a half hours. And all we got are wristbands. Hall H was pretty ridiculous this year.

[00:13:46] Hall H was pretty ridiculous. Well, primarily, we wanted to make sure that we got. In first thing in the morning because we wanted to see Berserker at 12, which was the second showing. So how does that work? Great. Do you as long as you have wristbands,

[00:14:01] you can come and go as you please for Hall H? No. Oh, wristbands. All that does is is essentially saying that you stood in line early and that you'll you can get back in line early for the most part.

[00:14:17] So the rules go that you can get a wristband. And you have two choices really. You can either stay and stay in line overnight underneath their tents if there's room, but you can't have tents. You can't have furniture.

[00:14:35] You can only have stuff that can be the amount of space of one person or you can go home, get some sleep and make sure that you get back before seven thirty. Now, if you get as we learned, if you go home and get back,

[00:14:52] you're just joining the end of the line of when you show up from within the people that have the wristbands. If you don't have a wristband, you're pushed back even further in a line that doesn't actually see a beginning until the rest of the wristband people come in.

[00:15:10] So we were. So let me describe it as compared to last year. Last year, we went in without wristbands and we had showed up at like six in the morning. And we it no joke, the line was longer than a mile

[00:15:26] to where we finally got into the line. And it took us seven hours to finally get into Hall H. So we were there from six a.m. to one thirty p.m. outside to actually get in. This year, we got there about six thirty with wristbands.

[00:15:49] We were still very much a good three quarters of a mile from the beginning of the line. At least the nice thing you'd have to show up and just camp out overnight. Like if you want pretty much first it comes down to

[00:16:07] like how close of a seat that you really want inside that they kind of shared. If you have a respond band, you're pretty much guaranteed to make it in for the beginning of the day. So because the Hall H seats sixty five hundred people. Oh, wow. Yeah.

[00:16:27] So so you look there he is. Pretty good. Flash me late speaking of what I'm so sorry. So sorry. What was the shape, color and consistency, sir? Yes. And I just went into that too. So. Yep. Anyway, so funny. Oh my gosh. Anyways, we got in pretty good.

[00:16:50] We got by the time that we got and we got pretty much the same seats that we snuck into last year. So we were pretty comfortable. But like I said, it just depends on where you want to sit and how close

[00:17:00] we we found out that we were pretty OK with seeing the big screens with everything being shown and all the all the celebs and everything and necessarily need to be so close that they're like sweating on us because of all the spotlights and everything. But it's pretty good.

[00:17:16] It like we're just continuing to learn. And we're also still meeting new people in lines that are more veteran than us. And they give us some tips every now and then. And yeah, yeah, yeah, it comes in handy. Pretty much like us with the three.

[00:17:36] Oh, yeah. We'd start off with the movies and then eventually we were the vets and passed on some knowledge and whatnot. So so when we look at the panels so first force what Friday was the Deadpool. Yes, which we did not get to see.

[00:17:55] OK, so folks, I'm going to say this try and stay off of Comic Con, TicToc as much as you can because they very spoiled a good chunk of Deadpool and Wolverine, which Theo and I will be going to see on Sunday.

[00:18:10] At this point, it's not even just Comic Con. Like it's anybody that's gone and seen the movie is put correct crap on TicToc now. Pretty much. But, you know, I caught Comic Con. You like just happened to come across a Comic Con one

[00:18:22] and it didn't label it as Deadpool and Wolverine. Didn't even have it labeled as Ryan Reynolds. But you just Ryan Reynolds just has that voice you just know. Right. Oh, yeah. And it started with the introduction of one of the first cameo appearances.

[00:18:37] So I'm not going to I'm not going to say who they are because there's some people that actually want to experience the the excitement and what not. And we've all kind of discussed it and they and I were talking about, you know, before the show.

[00:18:52] I love some of the cameo appearances. Not going to lie. But yeah, it was out of out of the well known ones. Which one are you the most excited about? Because there have been ones that like it's just so blatantly obvious and they're in the trailer.

[00:19:09] Yeah, so actually there's three. OK. And it's a I mean, at this point, we just say fucking just talk about the three or the actual characters. OK, three. I mean, they're they're anybody who's going to go by the scene, San Diego Comic Con coverage or anybody.

[00:19:30] This is kind of a spoiler. But first and foremost, seeing Chris Evans back is Johnny. That's just bro. Yes, Johnny's story. Yeah. And finally seeing Channing Tatum as Gambit because that was the longest running thing of them trying to get that movie

[00:19:52] made over at Fox and it never got off the ground. OK, so I saw I saw the look of him in in suit and everything. I feel like I feel like the look is not good on him.

[00:20:08] It was honestly it was bad, but it was good for like its time. And like that's why I kind of appreciated like oh, yeah. They're going to go for it. You know what I mean? But I feel like with like in particular with the headpiece,

[00:20:25] like you know how it's just like in there and you should be able to see the jawline and everything, I just feel like it might have been the lighting or the costume, but like it just looked like he had one cylindrical

[00:20:37] head and no neck. Like it's just there. And that's kind of like the 90s comic book look for Gambit. Right. Yeah. And what not. So at least at least in the comics, how he was drawn, you could still see a jaw.

[00:20:51] Yeah. So but the other the third one that I'm like super excited just to be able to just see it again is Wesley Snipes back as Blade. Like, yes, that was I saw an interview with him

[00:21:06] and he had so much respect for Marshala, you know, and them doing. Oh, yeah. And he was like, he's like, dude, I got his phone call from from Ryan Reynolds. And of course, you know, I hate him.

[00:21:18] But like he's like, no, we've been friends for like two decades. It's a running joke that we hate each other. It's kind of like him and you know, Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman. Right. But he was saying he's like, yeah, Ryan calls me up.

[00:21:29] He says, are you interested? And Wes is like, dude, at this point, I didn't think anything would ever get made like with his blade ever again because of just, you know, it was Disney, it was Fox, all of that.

[00:21:41] And he said, yeah, if you want to make it happen, I'll do it. And then he gets another phone call back going, OK, we're in if you're in. And he's like he's like, you know, but he gave so much reverence to Marshall.

[00:21:56] He's like, I didn't, you know, like he's like, they're getting ready to come out with this other one. I didn't know if they'd make it. I have huge respect for him and everything and what not. So the fact we get to see the fricking day walker. Like.

[00:22:11] One more time, I don't care if it's going to be for like two minutes. We we get played. So you get him for longer than two minutes. It's actually it's actually pretty cool. Yeah. But what's I'm saying, I don't care if it was for two minutes.

[00:22:24] Like we get to see Snipes's blade. So oh no, you get like you get to really see a performance. Like he's kind of like. When you when you actually first run into him in the movie, it's actually pretty sweet.

[00:22:41] So the one thing I got to I'll ask you, Jerry, no spoilers or anything. Yeah. Before we go back on to what happened in Hall H and everything is was it as ridiculous as we'd expect it from Deadpool? Is it is it Deadpool?

[00:22:54] Ridiculousness like we have in one and two. Oh, yeah. OK. Oh, yeah. Yeah. And like. Oh, yeah. OK. All righty. So anyway, you can give it without any spoilers. Just oh, yeah. Yeah. We'll talk about here and what not. But in a couple of weeks.

[00:23:15] Oh, yeah. But yeah. Anyways, so now you can Canadian over there. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. What was deal? What was Robin's character? The same this her singer persona. Shabatsky. Oh, Robin Sparkles. Robins, Robins Sparkles. Yeah, we're just going to start calling you Gerard Sparkles now. Oh, thank you.

[00:23:41] That was that was his alter ego name in Spice Boys. Damn it. Oh, and I have that. That's pretty good somewhere. It's on a it's on an external hard drive right now. But anyway, so anyway, that was lucky enough to go to Hall H on Friday.

[00:24:00] Pretty got to see Deadpool and Wolverine. And they got the and they got the exclusive Wolverine popcorn bucket when they get to reach into his mouth. Into Wolverine's mouth. Yeah, the play on the dune bucket. Yeah. Yeah.

[00:24:20] So anyway, so Hall H on Saturday, you guys said you guys were specifically going there for Berserker. Did it and Marvel? Yeah. And Marvel. And of course, the family was Kevin Smith, which you again. Anyways, I hope you ate a really good chocolate covered pretzel.

[00:24:40] That's all I got to say. So was Berserker what you expected out of that? Yeah, yeah. The Berserker panel was a lot of fun. You got to see the breathtaking Keanu Reeves. Yes, we saw Mr. Breathtaking himself. Yeah.

[00:25:01] He was presented by he was presented an award as well. Oh, which was cool. And we got to get some a little bit more insight on Berserker, the the movie and the anime, which are actually both coincide.

[00:25:23] So it's going to be pretty sweet and it's going to be coming out pretty soon. And then based on on the the comic book that Keanu started Berserker. Yeah. And we weren't quite close enough. We were prepared and like thinking about what we can yell out

[00:25:44] in order to like top breathtaking. God, but we weren't close enough in order to yell it out. But like some of the ideas were like, you make me feel things. Oh, please. We definitely knew we weren't going to get hurt. So we chickened out.

[00:26:09] I would have probably yelled party on. OK, me. But again, that's because I'm a friggin Bill and Ted nerd. So anyway, so let's talk Marvel style. Yeah, Jason is not here to complain about it. So let's let's talk about. Yeah.

[00:26:30] And then, yeah, we waited for the Marvel panel. You guys got to see a decent amount of stuff from Marvel. So you had Fantastic Four. You got the trailer. And which we see Galactus. So when you see the trailer up on like that big of a screen, right?

[00:26:48] Pretty much movie theater. How do you get? How is how is the look and feel of this fan? This fantastic four. And thoughts on Galactus. Now he's not a cloud. He's not a cloud. Oh, you want to speak? Speaking of Galactus and clouds,

[00:27:09] I will point out that there was an insane announcement of Fantastic Four on Friday night prior to everything that was a drone show for Marvel that revealed Galactus being the big bag for Fantastic Four at the end.

[00:27:27] And that was that was impressive to see just to see his head being all that drone show is very impressive. Anyways, yeah, it was super cool. But anyways, to see him. Up and close and like actually have like pretty much be caporial in it.

[00:27:48] Granted, it was like half a second. It's just him. Yeah, he peeking into a building and looking at everything. Like a moment, but it was just like, yeah, it's pretty insane. It definitely helps that prior to them showing that they show

[00:28:07] showed a little bit extra of Captain America, the New World, Brave New World, I believe. Yeah, and there was quite the drop in that one. Yeah, we they show. It was showing well, you got to see in from what I've seen at the footage.

[00:28:26] They showed basically Harrison Ford turning straight into Red Hulk. So that was part of the newest trailer. That was part of it. They they provided a clip beforehand that led into the trailer that helps confirm things that we've been waiting for for a long time.

[00:28:44] That is it primarily with X-Men, because they are introducing Adamantium in the world of the EU, which is where Eternals comes into play because it's coming from the Celestials. Yeah, the Celestial Tia Mutt. Yes. Yeah.

[00:29:01] Been just chilling there and nobody in the whole world's been going about it. Need to get harvest. Yeah, well, so now you find out what's been going on. The fact that each point of the world have been

[00:29:15] like have been taking their claim on the on the big ethereal and already starting their own like research labs. So that's what the president is calling is for a piece summit on why all it's for everyone. And then he does the presentation and the yeah,

[00:29:39] the big reveal was that it was Adamantium. For me, my one question with all of that, I do have a question on all of that. And this is something hopefully they'll explain is have shield is made from Adamantium. No, it's not. No, it has. Vibranium. Is it vibranium?

[00:29:57] Yeah. In MCU, it's vibranium. OK, MCU. Yeah. Yeah. So this is within the MCU. This is the first discovery of Adamantium. OK, well then hopefully we'll get weapon X out of this. Anyways, so I mean like weapon like we know from Logan and and and stuff.

[00:30:18] And of course, the the Sony universe like Adamantium is already existing in other Earths. But yeah, which speaking of the sacred timeline. Let's talk about that because so you learn that in the in Deadpool and Wolverine, too. Yeah. Anyway, so you guys also got to to witness

[00:30:39] and I have to ask like how it was with the Russo brothers introducing their big bad. But first of all, the intro for the Russo brothers was was awesome. That was what they introduced. They basically basically like think of an epic movie trailer

[00:30:58] that was purely clips of their movies for the director. And it was such a great setup because that was the other thing is one they were announcing, well, we have two movies that are pretty important and they're going to help move the you know,

[00:31:17] the whole the whole, you know, franchise is along. And then he's like, so, you know, we need we need some directors that can take the helm and can truly move, you know, these gigantic movies to the degree that we need them.

[00:31:36] And then they start the trailer and we're like it's everyone was it's got to be the Russo's everyone was like, oh my God, they had they have to be back. It's got to be the Russo. Everyone was like pretty much kind of new.

[00:31:50] And it was so it was so cool. And then finally they start showing like bits of the Winter Soldier and then end game, Infinity War, Civil War. And then yeah, it starts like showing more and more. And then Russo Brothers. Yep.

[00:32:09] And then, yeah, then they announced the two movies that they're going to be taking on. Doomsday and Secret Wars. Yeah, Doomsday and Secret Wars. And then that's when they well, we need, you know, that means, you know, the big bad. So that's when they made that announcement.

[00:32:28] And that was so yeah, especially since they have a change in titles. And it wasn't a Avenger's Doomsday. It was Dynasty. Yeah. Yeah. So they've officially ditched everything with Kang, which kind of makes me sad a little bit because Kang is a big bad within the Marvel Universe.

[00:32:46] But yeah, that being said, yeah, nobody's doctor dooms better than Dr. Doom because anybody who knows the comic also, which has been great. There's been a lot of like people making TikToks and stuff out of it is that

[00:33:02] you know, going back into the comics that Doom is so powerful that basically Thanos showed up, sans the gauntlet to challenge Dr. Doom and Dr. Doom rips his entire spine and hedge like skull straight out of his Thanos' body without even batting an eye.

[00:33:21] So Doom has always been the big bad. And I think it's I think. RDJ is going to do great with it. Don't get me wrong. But my question to you guys is after seeing. Fantastic four. And as far as the information they had at Hall H,

[00:33:40] and the fact is that we do know that RDJ is going to have a cameo appearance as Dr. Doom in Fantastic Four. We do know that it's it's already come out in his contract is it's the two movies plus an appearance for Fantastic Four. Let's see.

[00:34:00] I think it's going to be like credit. Yeah. Yeah, it's not going to be anything really big around that. But the theory and I want to see what you guys think about this. And Jerry, you and I kind of talked about this is.

[00:34:12] One of the theories going around is that this is going to borrow from the comics where Dr. Doom is actually college roommates with Tony Stark. And Switch's bodies. I hadn't heard that. Yes. So there is a there is a arc.

[00:34:32] I'd have to look up the exact comic title on it. But there was an arc where basically it's one of the alternate like universes. It's like five one something or it's like. OK. Anyway, so basically their college roommates instead of Victor and Reed Richards

[00:34:49] being roommates, which also makes sense because of the setup of the Fantastic Four in their own and their own world. So the theory is going is that Victor switched bodies. So basically he switched the intellect and basically used Tony Stark's

[00:35:06] vast wealth and Stark Industries to basically turn into the doom like the big bad doom. OK. And the theory is that the Fantastic Four to try and get them into the MCU, like with everybody else, is that they somehow get.

[00:35:26] Hold into six one six and bring that variant of doom with them. Interesting. The the other the other theory that I've heard on top that we can also discuss with is that there is a run that there is a Iron Man

[00:35:49] variant of Dr. Doom, that there's a green Iron Man that the Doctor Doom is made from. Oh, I do think that one. I think they're going more the Anthony Stark route that either he was taken over or that he was actually doom. Of that world.

[00:36:18] Like the Josh like kind of like a Josh Brolin type of deal that he's like, no, he's there. He's doing. But yeah, I like with him and cable, like just that is. Yeah, that he's just he's just playing as doom.

[00:36:39] But I would see that being the thing too, because I mean, like since they're playing heavy on the multi multiverse thing that they can kind of that's what I mean. Things just like oh, it's different worlds. Yeah, either they're going to do the tie in where like

[00:36:55] they have longer plans for for, you know, RDJ to be doom or. Like this is a temporary thing or like he's going to he's like the big bat. So that's what I'm wondering where how far it's going to go.

[00:37:10] But and yeah, how he's going to tie in because it could be a couple of ways, which is interesting. So yeah, that's why the the RDJ thing I thought was. Of an interesting choice because it can go in a couple of ways that could.

[00:37:28] You know, that could make it fun. That could really make I think I've been seeing a lot of eight comments online for it. I'm I'm actually all for it. I think I think I still think that he is going to be one of the

[00:37:43] greatest choices for that role. Granted, granted, Jerry and I were like in there and they're getting ready to announce it and they were like, Kylian Murphy, Kylian Murphy. Everyone was like, yeah, throwing out, you know, everyone thought no one saw it coming.

[00:38:02] No one. Yeah, we were we were like, oh man, I think it's like who who could it be or like Henry Cavill or especially with after how he did Oppenheimer like I like both of them were an Oppenheimer.

[00:38:16] And I feel like both of them learned things from Oppenheimer that would make them fantastic actors for Dr. Doom. Oh, just because of the that's why I don't have a problem. The and I'm not worried about RDJ because I have narcissism. His work. Yeah.

[00:38:36] I think they have to do it and just dress the right way, though, to explain Doom looking like Tony Stark. They're going to have to address the elephant in the room, essentially. I have a feeling that they'll probably do it playfully.

[00:38:50] Yeah, I have a feeling that they'll like it like, like you said, he'll end up in the sacred timeline on Earth 616 and and somebody at the very least like maybe Captain America, Anthony Mackie is going to be like, you look like somebody.

[00:39:08] I think it's going to be Tom Holland. I think it's going to be Spider-Man. Oh my God, please don't let that happen. Oh, my heart strings so bad. That would that would already cause that would destroy me. Monkey Ranch and like, oh my God, right?

[00:39:25] Because I hear rumors that there is I did hear rumors that there's confirmation of Spider-Man 4, even though Tom Holland said he was done. No, he's back for Spider-Man 4 and the The Avenger movies. Yeah. OK. It's a new three-ticker break. Yeah, he took a break.

[00:39:41] OK, let's be honest, money talks. Like you throw enough money at this like RDJ is making a grip ton of money off this two picture deal. Well, I mean, just like they continue to play play jokes on money talks. That's why Jackman's back is over. Yeah.

[00:39:59] I think that more has to do with just Ryan Reynolds just be going, let's just do this. Everybody wants it. Let's just do it. Yeah. You know, but how do you say no to Ryan Reynolds? You don't. You don't.

[00:40:11] I mean, he could tell me my dog died and I'd be like, OK. Like you were there. You were there. Oh, yeah. But how did you know my dog? I think I think it's going to be Spidey. That's like because remember, everybody doesn't know Spider-Man.

[00:40:29] Other than true, which for probably Dr. Strange, probably is the only one that's going to remember Peter. No, Dr. Strange is no. Well, that was the spell. I mean, that's the spell, but it is. It is strange and it's a part of it. It was it.

[00:40:48] But it had to reverberate through all the multiverses. Yep. So I think that's going to be the interesting thing is he sees this Tony Stark and is like, what the fuck? Like you're dead. Yeah. Like you're going to.

[00:41:02] I trust the Rousos to do something to tie it up, right? To make it plausible to the story and whatnot. Well, it depends if the Rousos have any and in on Fantastic Four, because if the rumors are true, that we're going to get an introduction in Fantastic Four

[00:41:21] and then have a maybe it's just an extended scene or whatever. But still, that's going to lay the foundation of what is going to be the interaction with them, too. Because I would hope so. It's it's all tied together with the other movies.

[00:41:37] So I'm sure they have to work in some sort of capacity together. And it could only it could also only be just a quick look like they did with Thanos. With Avengers, where it's just like they just show him sitting.

[00:41:50] I would say that like a door or like a setup scene with with a little bit of dialogue to hear to hear R.D.J. What other than that? Yeah, that's what I would say, too. I wouldn't mind seeing him sitting on his throne in Latvia.

[00:42:06] That's what I mean, like in armor, like something. But like without the without the mask yet, maybe like to its side. Or like he just happens to be looking at it like he has it in his hand.

[00:42:18] Just you just see this body sitting on a throne or something that the mask in the hand and just. You don't even see R.D.J. You just see him put it on like something like that. Yeah, yeah, maybe kind of like an O2

[00:42:34] Iron Man when he first puts on the. The mark what three or Mark two? Trevor is first. Marshall first, the first suit, right? That he built in the in the basement. Right. He kind of puts it on. You just see the whole thing light up

[00:42:48] and then come up with a heads up display. That'd be really cool to kind of see that. But yeah, yeah, when it was silver prior to that, I actually actually watched that today. It was Mark two. Oh, yeah.

[00:43:00] Like I told you, I thought I was due for a rewatch of the entire MCU. I was. Sorry about that. And we start Infinity War in Endgame. I love just popping in Endgame and watching the scene with Captain Marvel and Scarlet Witch.

[00:43:19] OK, that's where Scarlet Witch is just laying way not to basically annihilate Thanos and like rip him literally apart and and whatnot. And then all of a sudden it's like, hey, unknown object coming in from it from or yeah. Yeah, because like Scarlet Witch has got Thanos

[00:43:37] and he's like just rain fire help me. We'll kill everybody. Just do it. And all the guys is like, something's coming. We should probably shoot that one first. That's the thing is like in the comics, right? There's only a couple and two of them

[00:43:52] were Scarlet Witch and Captain Marvel that could actually go toe to toe with Thanos and actually could kill him. So I left out the day. But then you guys finished off Hall H. With Kevin Smith himself. Oh, yeah. And the announcement.

[00:44:12] It's always such a great thing to end with Kevin Smith, too. And the announcement that we're getting another Jan Sanam Bob. Yep. Yep. Yep. And his his next movie, 430, which is kind of an homage to his movie, his younger self. Yeah. Yeah, I can't wait.

[00:44:30] I will definitely see both movies. Oh, yeah. And you know, I'll go see Jan Sanam Bob. Oh, yeah. It's yeah. My question is going to be is how are they going? Like, like what more could we get out of those characters? Right. We got enough out of Clerks 3

[00:44:46] and and Jan Sanam Bob reboot. Like how else is it? What's shenanigans? Oh, he did give some insight into what they're doing. Which is I'll let you do it. Yeah. OK. So Jan Sanam Bob own a dispensary and it turns out that they have some competition.

[00:45:09] Oh, God. Yeah. So it's the competition. Oh, we don't know. We don't know the competition, but it's just that there is a competition. That's pretty much it. And the yeah. So it's what we'd wars or something like it's something wars. Dispensary wars or something like that.

[00:45:27] But yeah, another play on Star Wars. It's it's hilarious. He's like, oh, it's just another poor ripoff of Star Wars and the title when he was saying the title. But yeah, Kevin Smith is awesome. Yeah. And his Q&A is there always like stores. So cool.

[00:45:44] Store wars. There we go. It's called Store Wars. Yeah. Store Wars. Wouldn't that be funny if that's how they get? So remember Jason Lee's character in Clerks 2? Like where he's the rich preppy guy. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Wouldn't that be funny if they got him back for it?

[00:46:01] Oh, my God. That's his character. That would be funny. But if he was like the competition, oh, my God. He's the competition. That'd be funny. Yeah. So I am. You know what? There's gotta be a time that you managed to make it out there with us

[00:46:23] and just just to go see Kevin Smith. Like you would have so much fun with his crap because he doesn't lie behind anything. And when it gets to the Q&A, he doesn't joke about around that there is a Q and an F ton of A.

[00:46:41] Yeah. Like way more than you can ask for. For anything because you end up with like... So many stories, dude. It's so great. You end up with a question and then like maybe there's a story before the questions even asked

[00:46:52] and then you get two stories before the answer and the answer is a story. Or even more before the question is asked. Yeah, it's so great. I want to try and shoot for either next year or definitely for 2026. That's like my goal. Cool.

[00:47:09] Once in the next two years. Absolutely. Overall, when you guys look at the whole breadth of everything that you guys got to see and everything, how was this Comic Con, though, really overall, how would you rate it compared to the prior ones you have been to?

[00:47:30] So it actually took us a little... talking it through to figure out how many years we've gone. So this was actually our fourth year. And I mean, last year, we couldn't really compare much to with the writer strike that like there really wasn't much.

[00:47:46] So much was canceled where like... we really just spent most of our time on the show floor. And so crowded on the floor. Yeah, it was so crowded. We ended up looking for like panels to... To take a break.

[00:48:04] To take a break and to try out and stuff. And that's how we actually found out of some of the stuff that we regularly want to look at now. Yeah, that's how you found out about Hasbro, right? Last year? Yeah. Okay.

[00:48:17] No, I have to try them every year. Okay. What did Jerry real quick... What did they announce in the Hasbro panel that has you the most excited? Oh, man. The Deadpool Wolverine movie figures. Oh, man, man. Oh, a lot of them were MCU figures like Colossus from Deadpool 2.

[00:48:42] Oh my God, Deluxe Figure looks amazing. Yeah, there's quite a few figures that I'm actually looking forward to. But like they're actually some of a lot of the movie MCU ones I was looking forward to or hoping that they would be made.

[00:49:00] So that's going to be for you. But are you more excited for those over a particular McFarlane toy that got announced during Hall 8? McFarlane toy? Oh, yeah. The Zurker is getting made into a toy. Good old Keanu Raves. Yeah. Which we're more excited for. Keanu or Marvel Legends?

[00:49:25] Oh, I'm definitely... Well, both, you know, they're figures. But like the moment that was announced, I'll definitely pre-order it. Oh, but Zurker is going to be sick. Oh, it's going to be cool. But yeah. Yeah, so that's why we found those other panels.

[00:49:48] And yeah, Hesbara is really enjoyable. I try to make the Star Wars panel. That one gets... I didn't even realize like those. There's some serious collectors on that side because man, there's always been. That yeah, that's true. I guess I first encountered that during the first

[00:50:09] our first trilogy, episode one, two and three. But yeah, that's true. But man, it's right. It's literally right after the has the Marvel Legends panel. And like I just like go and check it out to see sometimes, but I didn't even bother this year.

[00:50:31] Last year, the line was ridiculous. Yeah, just to get in. All right. But yeah. So I could ask this, Jerry. And even though Jason is not here. Are you still on set for us? Yeah, I am. And he knows that too.

[00:50:49] OK, but when I was there, he was helping him with tips. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And some changes in materia. But yeah, I feel like I definitely feel like Gerald B. Beaton, beaten him pretty soon. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Cool.

[00:51:09] And I also kind of feel like Jason's played it a little too much with the like how quickly he found and like easily all the spells and stuff like without really looking like it. It seemed like he had it memorized,

[00:51:27] even though it wasn't the same setup as he had as Jerry. It was rather impressive, but also a little scary. Yeah. OK. Do you guys get any gaming in over the last week outside of your time at Comic Con?

[00:51:45] No, I caught up on a lot of anime and it was awesome. Yeah. I introduced him into solo leveling. Awesome. And we actually watched quite a bit of anime. You got you got the first season of Rising of the Shield Hero. First season 25 episodes. Sick. It was yeah.

[00:52:06] That's that's a good one. So yeah, I caught up on my anime. It was awesome. It was cool. I only played two games. Well, what would you do? Was one of them Animal Crossing? Yes. What was the Animal Crossing? I am back.

[00:52:23] I am really on my bullshit now because I've been rearranging part of my island. Oh no. Not a big not a big, big. Oh, OK. OK. I moved my stores over to one side.

[00:52:37] I'm putting back in my like whole Asian or, you know, garden area that I had before. Move some bridges and stuff on porous walk again. Like I literally have 30 K to my name right now. Like no, you're going to start slinging them.

[00:52:54] I guess I'm going to start getting on the turd ups and all that. Yeah, so two lips. Two lips. But no, it's it. I've needed the kind of the cozy game. If you know, it's pretty much what the holy god. Right. I've kind of needed that last week.

[00:53:11] The the plan of cozy game just going go hanging out in my village and my island. You need to take your time with and just kind of like kick back. Kick back and. Oh, shelter is big.

[00:53:21] Give me a and I got another recipe that I do not have. What? Yeah. So I thought I had all of the space stuff. So yeah, the space shuttle, the lunar lander, the the rocket that looks like Apollo, you know, 11 and 13.

[00:53:39] OK, there is now the capsule from Apollo 11. The actual. Oh, cool. Yeah, that's right. You did mention that. So I have to redo the you have to redo the museum because of it. Slowly working on that. But then.

[00:53:55] But you only have the recipe or did you already created like you already have the stars and stuff like I got to get the the star fragments. So I got to go probably jump on the night and see if I can get some shooting stars

[00:54:06] and whatnot. But the other was and will be the show. I played an absolute grip ton. I am now I am now on the same month, like now tomorrow, you know, it's going to be the 31st, but I am now the first weekend of July

[00:54:25] on my season. So I've actually caught up to where I'm like a week out from where the All Star game was. So. Oh, cool. And I can say this, Jerry. Oh, no. Your boys are in third place. Oh, OK. And the Rockies are sitting atop the NL West.

[00:54:43] Oh, wow. I have a two game. I have a two game lead over the Diamondbacks and I have a three and a half game lead over the Dodgers. Sweet, dude. I went on an I went on a eight oh streak. And yeah.

[00:54:59] And which two games I went back to back, throwing up 10 runs plus. Oh, sweet. Nice. Yeah, it was kind of nice. I was scoring last first game against the White Sox for the interleague. I was scoring two runs and inning

[00:55:18] while no hitting there while throwing a perfect game. And then I walked and then let them hit a home run and ended up winning 12 to 2. But but yes, it's kind of nice seeing the Dodgers at the middle of the pack and and Shohei has only where I was.

[00:55:38] Where I believe in the back of Jerry's mind is saying, it's like, well, it's only happening in a make believe world, not in the real world. You know what? I didn't want to have a brother dream.

[00:55:50] You know, I don't know if blow up the dream a little bit. But it's sad is I pretty much minus three players. I pretty much am running accurate Rockies players like. I was sick. I've you know, some that I've got some called up from the miners

[00:56:09] that aren't actually up with the team. But but yeah, it's. I just got on a baseball kick as much as I wanted to play Mass Effect. I was like, no, I want to play some more baseball. Oh, cool. I'll be the show and whatnot. So yeah. So yeah.

[00:56:28] So with that, I want to thank everybody for crashing game night with us. Night first time crashing was thank you. Hopefully we gave you some laughs and some insight into Comic Con. Hopefully Jason will be back next week. What not? But, you know, if like mature drop follow

[00:56:46] or head on over to crashing game night calm, check out our past episodes and the platforms were carried on over there. With everything that's going on in the world, especially what's going on here in Colorado with the forest fires,

[00:57:01] you know, I can see the massive plumes of smoke, you know, from where I live. Just please in these times just be excellent. That's right, all you nerds. Everyone, please let's just try and you know, extend the helping hand and try and promote the same message

[00:57:24] as we always do, try to express more patience, try to try to be a little bit more patient, be a little bit nicer. Let's just try to do and be a little bit better. And as it's getting a little crazier out there, everyone

[00:57:43] stay safe, watch out for each other, try to. And you know, also you guys be you, you do you and you be you. And I will take every time you say that it's always as a put in my mind, you do you boo boo.

[00:58:01] You do you boo boo. Yeah, all you be you. And I'll take it up for Jason. Man, see yo. Take it home, baby. You did so loud that you cut. You went over your threshold. Yes, you did. Well, thank you all. They appreciate you.

[00:58:23] Listen to me ramble for for a good amount of the show. Like I don't ramble that much, but I am rambling now. Jerry was like, I know. I got to try. Thanks for watching. Thanks for listening till next time. TTFN. Satsaf and now. Good night, everybody.

[00:58:42] Jason, we missed you. Booyah.
