Episode 286 - Bungie Layoffs and Saying Goodbye To Game Informer

On this episode of the podcast we discuss the latest layoffs at Bungie as well as the closure of Game Informer.

[00:00:08] [SPEAKER_01]: And with that, I want to welcome everybody to Crashing Game Night.

[00:00:11] [SPEAKER_01]: My name is Matt DeOreo, your host.

[00:00:14] [SPEAKER_01]: As always, tonight we are joined by the bar version, the first variant that Daredevil

[00:00:23] [SPEAKER_01]: comes across, our version of Swart Logan.

[00:00:29] [SPEAKER_02]: Very funny.

[00:00:30] [SPEAKER_02]: That was like, okay, not bad, not bad.

[00:00:33] [SPEAKER_02]: I like Happy Hogan.

[00:00:34] [SPEAKER_02]: Hey, what's up nerds?

[00:00:35] [SPEAKER_02]: How you doing?

[00:00:36] [SPEAKER_02]: Thank you all for-

[00:00:37] [SPEAKER_02]: Aren't you the chauffeur?

[00:00:40] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm the head of security.

[00:00:42] [SPEAKER_02]: Don't know what you're talking about.

[00:00:44] [SPEAKER_01]: And we're saying to you tonight, he's stuck working, but we are joined by our version

[00:00:50] [SPEAKER_01]: of Professor X, the man, the myth, the legends, the lion's mane, Jason Bolidio.

[00:00:58] [SPEAKER_00]: How's it going guys?

[00:00:59] [SPEAKER_00]: How's it going?

[00:01:00] [SPEAKER_00]: I am back after a week hiatus, but you know, I don't get the reference because

[00:01:06] [SPEAKER_00]: you know it's marvelous.

[00:01:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Sage like advice.

[00:01:09] [SPEAKER_00]: No, hey, sure.

[00:01:10] [SPEAKER_01]: You know.

[00:01:11] [SPEAKER_00]: Sure.

[00:01:11] [SPEAKER_00]: Okay.

[00:01:12] [SPEAKER_00]: You know.

[00:01:13] [SPEAKER_00]: Didn't you watch X-Men 97?

[00:01:17] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:01:18] Yeah.

[00:01:19] [SPEAKER_02]: Huh.

[00:01:19] [SPEAKER_02]: Okay.

[00:01:20] [SPEAKER_02]: So Professor X, yo.

[00:01:21] [SPEAKER_02]: That's not-

[00:01:23] [SPEAKER_00]: I assumed that it was a recent thing other than 97, you know, like, you know, I'm

[00:01:29] [SPEAKER_00]: out of the Marvel loop guys.

[00:01:31] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm sorry.

[00:01:32] [SPEAKER_00]: You're so annoying.

[00:01:34] [SPEAKER_00]: Am I annoying?

[00:01:36] [SPEAKER_02]: Marvel loop.

[00:01:37] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.

[00:01:39] [SPEAKER_02]: Well, Deadpool Wolverine was awesome.

[00:01:42] [SPEAKER_01]: Dude, well, the soap and deal would be on so we could actually actually have three

[00:01:46] [SPEAKER_01]: of us be able to talk about that.

[00:01:48] [SPEAKER_01]: That's okay.

[00:01:48] [SPEAKER_01]: We can talk about it for a few.

[00:01:50] [SPEAKER_01]: Wow.

[00:01:51] [SPEAKER_01]: Go ahead and spoil it for me.

[00:01:52] [SPEAKER_01]: It's worth-

[00:01:53] [SPEAKER_01]: No.

[00:01:54] [SPEAKER_02]: You know what?

[00:01:55] [SPEAKER_02]: You know what?

[00:01:56] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay.

[00:01:56] [SPEAKER_01]: One, you are not going to go see it.

[00:01:59] [SPEAKER_01]: I am going to see it.

[00:01:59] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to see it.

[00:02:00] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay.

[00:02:01] [SPEAKER_01]: We can actually say things about the movie without ruining anything.

[00:02:06] [SPEAKER_01]: No plot holes and no none.

[00:02:08] [SPEAKER_01]: We could say a few things and not, but all I got to say is a couple of things.

[00:02:16] [SPEAKER_01]: Is one, you know the movie is going to be absurd and completely off rails just from

[00:02:23] [SPEAKER_01]: the opening sequence of the movie.

[00:02:25] [SPEAKER_01]: That's just-

[00:02:25] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh yeah.

[00:02:27] [SPEAKER_01]: Look at that.

[00:02:27] [SPEAKER_01]: Already spoiled it.

[00:02:29] [SPEAKER_01]: That's it.

[00:02:29] [SPEAKER_00]: Really?

[00:02:30] [SPEAKER_02]: What's the opening sequence?

[00:02:34] [SPEAKER_01]: That's like a spoiler.

[00:02:34] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:02:35] [SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't matter.

[00:02:35] [SPEAKER_01]: You'll see it.

[00:02:37] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh my God.

[00:02:39] [SPEAKER_01]: And I know they showed it in the trailers and stuff like that, but God damn Hugh

[00:02:45] [SPEAKER_01]: Jackman's abs.

[00:02:48] [SPEAKER_02]: Right?

[00:02:49] [SPEAKER_02]: And I actually think it's really funny that after the premiere, like they had to

[00:02:56] [SPEAKER_02]: have reps to like confirm night like no, that really was Hugh Jackman in the scene

[00:03:00] [SPEAKER_02]: doing that scene.

[00:03:02] [SPEAKER_01]: Dude, I like-

[00:03:04] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know why his workout routine really is because-

[00:03:07] [SPEAKER_02]: Dude, he went harder than Logan or I would say even X-Men Origins.

[00:03:13] [SPEAKER_02]: Because yeah dude, like he really, he stepped it up.

[00:03:22] [SPEAKER_01]: That's quite the commitment.

[00:03:23] [SPEAKER_01]: But no, Jay, you were in for a great ride.

[00:03:27] [SPEAKER_01]: Cool.

[00:03:28] [SPEAKER_01]: It is honestly, I think the best way to put it and they even do this-

[00:03:32] [SPEAKER_01]: It's just fun dude.

[00:03:33] [SPEAKER_01]: It is absolutely 100% a send off to the Fox universe.

[00:03:40] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:03:42] [SPEAKER_01]: That's the best way to put it.

[00:03:43] [SPEAKER_01]: It is a very fun way.

[00:03:45] [SPEAKER_01]: Thank you for everything.

[00:03:47] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, and stay until the end of the credits.

[00:03:50] [SPEAKER_01]: You always have to say it.

[00:03:51] [SPEAKER_01]: It's not something that like alludes to the future.

[00:03:55] [SPEAKER_01]: It's just freaking hilarious.

[00:03:56] [SPEAKER_01]: Like it is the funniest thing ever.

[00:04:00] [SPEAKER_02]: Honestly, it really closes everything up if you think about it.

[00:04:03] [SPEAKER_02]: With the actual Deadpool franchise, it just like pivots and involves Disney.

[00:04:11] [SPEAKER_02]: But like I said, it's very- it's just very fun.

[00:04:19] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:04:19] [SPEAKER_02]: I honestly would have given- I would give it like an 8.5 out of 10.

[00:04:25] [SPEAKER_00]: Okay.

[00:04:29] [SPEAKER_01]: So I enjoy it.

[00:04:31] [SPEAKER_01]: I actually want to go- I personally want to see it again.

[00:04:34] [SPEAKER_02]: I will- I actually am going to go see it again too.

[00:04:37] [SPEAKER_01]: But here's the thing is for me, the next movie up that I really want to see is Romulus.

[00:04:42] [SPEAKER_01]: Alien Romulus.

[00:04:43] [SPEAKER_02]: Ah, yes.

[00:04:45] [SPEAKER_02]: Yes.

[00:04:45] [SPEAKER_01]: We got the trailer for that.

[00:04:47] [SPEAKER_01]: That latest trailer was- oh.

[00:04:49] [SPEAKER_01]: I had actually looked up where it's taking place in the timeline because I saw the trailer and I'm like,

[00:04:53] [SPEAKER_01]: that's a freaking pulse rifle.

[00:04:56] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I was wondering because I thought it was after aliens.

[00:05:00] [SPEAKER_01]: It's taking place between alien and aliens.

[00:05:03] [SPEAKER_01]: It's a-

[00:05:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, between?

[00:05:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, cool.

[00:05:05] [SPEAKER_01]: Between them.

[00:05:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:05:07] [SPEAKER_01]: So that's why it's a- it looks like a little bit different pulse rifle.

[00:05:10] [SPEAKER_01]: But it is very much- I was like, I saw that and I'm like, yes.

[00:05:14] [SPEAKER_01]: And it looks like alien again.

[00:05:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Like it is bringing back that horror element to it.

[00:05:20] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh man.

[00:05:21] [SPEAKER_02]: And the- the- the grabbers.

[00:05:24] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh my god.

[00:05:25] [SPEAKER_02]: The faceuggers?

[00:05:27] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, the faceuggers.

[00:05:28] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh god.

[00:05:30] [SPEAKER_02]: Every time.

[00:05:31] [SPEAKER_02]: So-

[00:05:31] [SPEAKER_02]: Every time.

[00:05:32] [SPEAKER_02]: Anyways.

[00:05:32] [SPEAKER_02]: I always jump.

[00:05:36] [SPEAKER_01]: Update on Colorado, we're still on fire.

[00:05:40] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh no.

[00:05:41] [SPEAKER_01]: The forest fire that's like 20 minutes from my house, they've got it almost fully contained now.

[00:05:45] [SPEAKER_01]: Thankfully we got a bunch of rain.

[00:05:47] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, that's bad.

[00:05:48] [SPEAKER_01]: They're starting to get the- the fire that's a little bit further up north contained but

[00:05:53] [SPEAKER_01]: by golly today smelled like smoke, like literal like campfire smoke all day today.

[00:05:57] [SPEAKER_01]: I was like running around.

[00:05:58] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, why does my car smell like cigarette smoke?

[00:06:00] [SPEAKER_01]: And then when I got out of the car to go in the grocery store, I was like, yeah,

[00:06:04] [SPEAKER_01]: that's the smell from the forest fires.

[00:06:08] [SPEAKER_02]: So-

[00:06:09] [SPEAKER_02]: Doesn't that weird you out that like whenever that happens and like sometimes you think it's snow or

[00:06:17] [SPEAKER_02]: or it's almost like, oh look, it's raining and oh there's something weird about that.

[00:06:21] [SPEAKER_02]: It's all ash.

[00:06:23] [SPEAKER_01]: So weird.

[00:06:24] [SPEAKER_01]: So anyway, so yeah, we're still- things are looking a little bit better.

[00:06:29] [SPEAKER_01]: We're gonna- we're actually gonna be dropping into the 70s Thursday.

[00:06:34] [SPEAKER_01]: So it's gonna be huge 30, we're gonna have like a 20, 30 degree drop in our temperatures, which is great.

[00:06:40] [SPEAKER_02]: You guys are going to be in the best position when you guys come in October.

[00:06:44] [SPEAKER_02]: It's not gonna be hot.

[00:06:46] [SPEAKER_02]: It's, you know, the weather's gonna turn just right around that time.

[00:06:51] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:06:52] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we're gonna be spending it indoors.

[00:06:54] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that too.

[00:06:56] [SPEAKER_01]: That is true.

[00:06:57] [SPEAKER_02]: But I- but given the sleeping situation, like we won't need the AC and it won't be too bad.

[00:07:04] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:07:04] [SPEAKER_02]: All right.

[00:07:05] [SPEAKER_01]: It'll be good getting out there looking forward to.

[00:07:08] [SPEAKER_01]: But how's everyone's last week been for everybody?

[00:07:12] [SPEAKER_01]: We missed you, Jay.

[00:07:13] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I know.

[00:07:14] [SPEAKER_00]: I was, you know, sending off one of my coworkers.

[00:07:18] [SPEAKER_00]: He's heading off to outside of Dallas area.

[00:07:23] [SPEAKER_00]: So-

[00:07:24] [SPEAKER_00]: Ooh.

[00:07:24] [SPEAKER_01]: That's right.

[00:07:25] [SPEAKER_01]: That's a move.

[00:07:25] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.

[00:07:26] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, like it's-

[00:07:30] [SPEAKER_01]: You know what though?

[00:07:31] [SPEAKER_01]: You can't blame people for moving right now because like you look at how expensive it is to live in California.

[00:07:37] [SPEAKER_01]: Look here in Colorado as well.

[00:07:39] [SPEAKER_01]: Like people are moving to cheaper states unfortunately because right now inflation is ridiculous and-

[00:07:48] [SPEAKER_01]: How is it in Colorado?

[00:07:51] [SPEAKER_01]: I was looking at things.

[00:07:52] [SPEAKER_01]: If we were to, you know, look at hospitals moving out of our house and whatnot and rent would go up.

[00:08:00] [SPEAKER_01]: Wow.

[00:08:01] [SPEAKER_01]: Like houses right now are going for about 3K plus.

[00:08:06] [SPEAKER_01]: I was looking like even apartments, like one bedroom apartments in town are going for like almost two grand.

[00:08:12] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, some are going for 2,500.

[00:08:15] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that is California prices.

[00:08:17] [SPEAKER_02]: That's starting to sound like California prices.

[00:08:19] [SPEAKER_01]: We paid $2,500 on our house for our rental and honestly we should potentially be paying more.

[00:08:28] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, our landlord could pay, you know, charge more for our house than they haven't.

[00:08:33] [SPEAKER_01]: So, thankful for that but you know, I don't blame people.

[00:08:37] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean like you look at it.

[00:08:39] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean they're now starting to talk.

[00:08:41] [SPEAKER_01]: We may be moving into a recession for the first time in a long while.

[00:08:45] [SPEAKER_01]: The unemployment number for the last month is half a percentage over what it was for the last year.

[00:08:53] [SPEAKER_01]: And that's usually a sign that you're starting to move into a recession.

[00:08:55] [SPEAKER_01]: So, that's going to be fun.

[00:08:58] [SPEAKER_00]: So, yeah, that's some good times, you know.

[00:09:02] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, right.

[00:09:04] [SPEAKER_00]: But it was good times having what to have.

[00:09:06] [SPEAKER_00]: Like I was like, I was like, bro, like good on you for making that jump out of California.

[00:09:11] [SPEAKER_00]: You know, it's...

[00:09:15] [SPEAKER_00]: You're losing a lot of people here now and that's all it is.

[00:09:18] [SPEAKER_00]: You know, you're just losing friends and family but aside from that though...

[00:09:22] [SPEAKER_01]: If they're still part of the family, like if they're still your family, your friends, you're still going to talk to them.

[00:09:26] [SPEAKER_01]: You'll still hopefully be able to see them for visits and whatnot.

[00:09:30] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, technology wise now made it a lot easier.

[00:09:33] [SPEAKER_00]: But it's still that initial...

[00:09:35] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, in our situation you've got to get Jerry's ass on a plane.

[00:09:38] [SPEAKER_00]: Not an actual jump.

[00:09:39] [SPEAKER_01]: It's always hard but...

[00:09:40] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, but anyways, it is...

[00:09:46] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, hopefully he... it's a good move for him though.

[00:09:48] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, oh yeah.

[00:09:49] [SPEAKER_01]: Like it's a good move for him and his family and whatnot and whatnot.

[00:09:53] [SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, the last week wasn't news wise.

[00:10:00] [SPEAKER_01]: Wasn't great for some folks.

[00:10:04] [SPEAKER_01]: So let's talk about this, right?

[00:10:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Because this is kind of big so...

[00:10:10] [SPEAKER_01]: To the theater we go.

[00:10:13] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, Jason gets to be Minnie.

[00:10:15] [SPEAKER_01]: We're going to go see Minnie again.

[00:10:18] [SPEAKER_01]: Is he going to be Minnie again?

[00:10:20] [SPEAKER_01]: Look, he's Minnie!

[00:10:21] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, this happens.

[00:10:23] [SPEAKER_01]: Maybe I should have called him...

[00:10:25] [SPEAKER_01]: First variant Logan.

[00:10:27] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, look at him.

[00:10:28] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, look at you comic book actor.

[00:10:31] [SPEAKER_00]: I feel like I need to just like move my face like this close to the camera.

[00:10:37] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm just like, yo, what's up?

[00:10:38] [SPEAKER_02]: I think you have to do, yeah.

[00:10:40] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, let's all have to do it.

[00:10:42] [SPEAKER_01]: So anyway, so let's look at this from...

[00:10:47] [SPEAKER_01]: This was posted on the 31st.

[00:10:51] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, the news really kind of broke around there.

[00:10:54] [SPEAKER_01]: We didn't quite catch it.

[00:10:57] [SPEAKER_01]: It was pretty much the day after we recorded last week.

[00:11:00] [SPEAKER_01]: So for those of us who are home, I'm going to kind of go read over this, but we're reading it.

[00:11:04] [SPEAKER_01]: It's directly off of bungee.net.

[00:11:08] [SPEAKER_01]: The post is from Pete Parsons at the studio to label the new path for bungee.

[00:11:15] [SPEAKER_01]: It says, this morning I'm sharing with all of you some of the most difficult changes we've ever had to make as a studio due to rising costs of development and industry shifts as well as enduring economic conditions.

[00:11:27] [SPEAKER_01]: It has become clear that we need to make substantial changes to our cost structure and focus development efforts entirely on destiny and marathon.

[00:11:35] [SPEAKER_01]: That means beginning today 220 of our roles will be eliminated representing roughly 17%.

[00:11:41] [SPEAKER_01]: That's one 7% of our studio's workforce.

[00:11:46] [SPEAKER_01]: These actions will affect every level of the company, including most of our executive and senior leader roles.

[00:11:52] [SPEAKER_01]: Today is a difficult and painful day, especially from our departing colleagues, all of which have been made important and valuable contributions to bungee.

[00:12:01] [SPEAKER_01]: Our goal is to support them with the utmost care and respect for everyone affected by this job reduction.

[00:12:06] [SPEAKER_01]: We will be offering a generous exit package including severance, bonus and health coverage.

[00:12:13] [SPEAKER_01]: I realize all of this is hard news, especially following the success we have seen with the final shape which I'm talking to you about that too.

[00:12:19] [SPEAKER_01]: And the final shape has blown away the numbers that it was supposed to do compared to the prior DLC.

[00:12:31] [SPEAKER_01]: But as we've navigated the broader economic realities over the last year and after exhausting all other mitigation options,

[00:12:39] [SPEAKER_01]: this has become a necessary decision to refocus our studio and our business with more realistic goals and viable financials.

[00:12:45] [SPEAKER_01]: We are committed to two other major changes today that we believe will support our focus leveraging Sony's strengths and create new opportunities for bungee talent.

[00:12:52] [SPEAKER_01]: First, we're deepening our integration with Sony Interactive Entertainment working on integrating 155 of our roles roughly 12% into SIE over the next few quarters.

[00:13:04] [SPEAKER_01]: SIE has worked tirelessly with us to identify roles for many of our people as possible, enabling us together to save a great deal of talent that would otherwise have been affected by the reduction in force.

[00:13:17] [SPEAKER_01]: So the way I read that is they're kind of laying off 17% of that force, but part of that's going to get integrated into SIE.

[00:13:25] [SPEAKER_01]: That's the way I look at it, which if that's the case, that's huge. Yes, it's going to be a layoff out of the studio, but they're not necessarily losing their jobs.

[00:13:37] [SPEAKER_01]: So second, we are working with PlayStation Studios leadership to spin out one of our incubation projects and action games set in a brand new science fantasy universe to form a new studio within PlayStation Studios continue its promising development.

[00:13:51] [SPEAKER_01]: This will be a time for tremendous change for our studio. Let's unpack how we ended up in this position. It's important to understand how we got here.

[00:13:59] [SPEAKER_01]: Over for over five years, it's been our goal to ship games and three enduring global franchises to realize that ambition we set up several incubation projects each seated with senior development leaders from our existing teams.

[00:14:11] [SPEAKER_01]: We eventually realized this model stretched our talent too thin too quickly. It also forced our studio support structure to scale to a larger level that we could realistically support given our two primary project products in development, destiny and the marathon reboot.

[00:14:27] [SPEAKER_01]: Additionally, in 2023 a rapid expansion ran headlong into a broad economic slowdown, a sharp downturn in the game industry, our quality mists with destiny to lightfall and the need to give the final shape and marathon the time needed to ensure both projects deliver at the quality our players expect and deserve.

[00:14:45] [SPEAKER_01]: We were overly ambitious. Our financial safety margins were subsequently exceeded and we began running in the red after this neutral directory became clear.

[00:14:55] [SPEAKER_01]: We knew we had to change our course and speed and we did everything we could to avoid today's outcome, even with exhaustive efforts undertaken across our leadership and product teams to resolve our financial challenges.

[00:15:04] [SPEAKER_01]: These steps were simply not enough as a result today. We must say goodbye to incredible talent colleagues and friends. This will be a challenging time at bungee and when we need to help our team navigate these changes in the weeks and months ahead.

[00:15:16] [SPEAKER_01]: This will be a hard week and we know that our team will need to process, ask questions and absorb the news today and over the next several weeks we will host team meetings in town halls.

[00:15:25] [SPEAKER_01]: Team breakout sessions and private individual sessions to ensure we are keeping our communication open and transparent bungee will continue to make great games. We still have over 850 team members building destiny and marathon and we will continue to build amazing experiences exceed our players expectations.

[00:15:41] [SPEAKER_01]: There will be time to talk about our goals and projects but today is not the day. Today our focus is on supporting our people.

[00:15:48] [SPEAKER_01]: Pete.

[00:15:51] [SPEAKER_01]: So, listening to that like going back like we talked about I think, God this sucks. Like you don't want to see more layoffs in the industry but if what he's saying sounds true at least some of those jobs are just they're not losing them which is big right now.

[00:16:07] [SPEAKER_02]: Some teams are going to transition but others you know, people are going to lose them no matter what people are going to get laid off. Correct.

[00:16:15] [SPEAKER_01]: Secondly is at least this is the first time from a studio laying off this size of a people that they've actually said this is how we screwed up and got to this point where we have to do it.

[00:16:29] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, we've talked about this with bungee you know with the last time they did layoffs to is they just moved in that new facility. You know they paid you know a lot of money for that, which was very weird because I mean everyone knew and they even announced.

[00:16:42] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm very sure that they announced even around that time that destiny is ending, you know destiny to is ending and there isn't a predecessor so.

[00:16:54] [SPEAKER_02]: And I don't even think if they announce anything like down the pipe or what was coming in the future I just kept hearing rumors of like, like our development stuff is coming.

[00:17:09] [SPEAKER_02]: That's all I keep hearing.

[00:17:12] [SPEAKER_02]: Let's see the interwebs.

[00:17:15] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean like even so with all this that like layoffs and stuff like that it's yes it's difficult yes it's hard, you know, but you know, I mean it might be recession which is like you like it.

[00:17:29] [SPEAKER_01]: According to an article from Paul Tassie at Forbes.

[00:17:36] [SPEAKER_01]: He's saying that it has been confirmed that there is no destiny three coming.

[00:17:46] [SPEAKER_01]: Right.

[00:17:47] [SPEAKER_01]: So it may just be that they're just moving destiny into a just a continually update like kind of Final Fantasy 14 where you're just going to get DLC expansions for it.

[00:18:00] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, okay I thought I thought it was ending like I thought it was like done after this update like they were done well of course.

[00:18:08] [SPEAKER_01]: I saw an article where they're planning on doing a another expansion after this.

[00:18:15] [SPEAKER_01]: After Final Shape so.

[00:18:18] [SPEAKER_02]: Okay, okay cool.

[00:18:20] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:18:21] [SPEAKER_01]: So it'll be it'll be interesting to see where they take destiny.

[00:18:26] [SPEAKER_01]: Especially if they're putting if they're farming out and we don't know what this new studio is going to be with him, you know Sony, you know studios PlayStation Studios rather that's doing this new IP.

[00:18:38] [SPEAKER_02]: It just feels like I mean, why do you do it.

[00:18:41] [SPEAKER_02]: That's why like I kind of question because it with with barely any real news about the recent DLC.

[00:18:52] [SPEAKER_02]: It just feels like kind of like destiny to is dying out already or is it just.

[00:18:59] [SPEAKER_02]: It has it hit the where it has like that regular fan base where it doesn't really need to worry about like new, new fans or anything like that or like, I don't know.

[00:19:13] [SPEAKER_02]: I haven't really been I haven't really followed it that much I just assumed like it was kind of on its way out because I really haven't heard that much about it.

[00:19:24] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.

[00:19:26] [SPEAKER_01]: Jason what do you think I mean how do you feel do you think.

[00:19:29] [SPEAKER_00]: Well, it was good.

[00:19:32] [SPEAKER_01]: No good.

[00:19:33] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah no I was saying this whole thing with the with the layoffs and stuff like that yeah like it sucks. You know you can't be.

[00:19:42] [SPEAKER_00]: At the end of the day yes they are a business and they still have to make that money for the big people up top you know but yeah realize at some point, you know and it happens a lot with a lot of companies to use when you start running out of people, you're just like okay well let's bring in new people because we can hire them for less but they know that it's not going to be the same product.

[00:20:06] [SPEAKER_00]: You know, like what's what's the point and you know you can't have the old school developers be like oh yeah you know I've been on this project for let's say 15 years you know and again I don't know who was laid off you know all the logistics of all that stuff.

[00:20:23] [SPEAKER_00]: But if it's just that guy alone doing it yeah of course things are going to take a lot longer now unless you get some rookies that don't know exactly a thing about whatever they're doing and you're going to delay things more and more and it creates a cycle of like hey like we gave you some time well look what I have to work with.

[00:20:45] [SPEAKER_00]: Well we still get it done you know like yeah and it's just never ending loop until people are finally going to go push come to shove like you know what let's just scrap the project.

[00:20:57] [SPEAKER_00]: And the people that lose out is us the consumers out here you know I just like I said like I said before I don't care how long a game takes as long as it's done well and as long as it's done right.

[00:21:10] [SPEAKER_00]: Agreed.

[00:21:10] [SPEAKER_00]: That's good enough.

[00:21:12] [SPEAKER_00]: Without crunch.

[00:21:13] [SPEAKER_00]: You know if there is like some like last minute like bugs that are like game breaking.

[00:21:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh crap you know we've already you know gone gold and all of a sudden we found a bug and it's supposed to ship in two months we've got to get this you know code fixed.

[00:21:28] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.

[00:21:28] [SPEAKER_00]: No I get that different crunch.

[00:21:30] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:21:30] [SPEAKER_00]: But if it's just like oh we need to make it because we set a date for cyberpunk for cyberpunk and we're like oh we have to make it out there now.

[00:21:38] [SPEAKER_00]: Like let's put it out.

[00:21:39] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't care what it looks like.

[00:21:40] [SPEAKER_00]: It's got to make money.

[00:21:42] [SPEAKER_00]: You know and yeah I get it business wise you're screwed on that.

[00:21:47] [SPEAKER_00]: That's what you're that's what you're into you know you put the money in you got to see the money come back out.

[00:21:53] [SPEAKER_00]: You know that's fine but realize that there are hundreds if not a thousand people working on one game and just to say you know what let me lose it like 20% of let's say because I'm rounding.

[00:22:08] [SPEAKER_00]: Let's lose 20% of our workforce.

[00:22:11] [SPEAKER_00]: Okay 80% of the people you have to pick up that 20% of the people's flag.

[00:22:15] [SPEAKER_00]: What what you're already on this time crunch you're already on this deadline and you want us to add on top it's like yeah that's not gonna work.

[00:22:25] [SPEAKER_01]: I still think in parts of this is like we are seeing I think we're quietly seeing.

[00:22:32] [SPEAKER_01]: The games industry kind of hitting like a recession in some ways right because you see all these layoffs we've been having.

[00:22:38] [SPEAKER_01]: You know they're still not making quite the amount of money that they used to be making I think that's because a lot of them had the unrealistic expectation that.

[00:22:46] [SPEAKER_01]: COVID money was going to be there permanently right that because we're on lockdown we were spending our money on games and a lot of them you know to give us something to do because we couldn't go anywhere like what were we gonna do watch movies and games.

[00:23:00] [SPEAKER_01]: You know that was that's pretty much it.

[00:23:04] [SPEAKER_01]: So you know some some platforms have we're just like okay let's ramp up as fast as possible is dump some money into all this they were making hand over fist they thought it was going to keep going.

[00:23:14] [SPEAKER_01]: You know a lot of these games fix as we go will fix as we go and allow that was during the pandemic that was the thing during the pandemic and a lot of these games have four or five year life cycle like development cycles to where they before they even get to us so they ramp up all these games in 2020.

[00:23:30] [SPEAKER_01]: They start bringing them out in 24 they started they're not doing as well because they're just not hitting the demographics anymore.

[00:23:37] [SPEAKER_01]: You know you only look at you look at Nintendo who very much played it safe and said hey we understand this is going to be a slight bump up currently.

[00:23:44] [SPEAKER_01]: Well, it's not going to be sustained.

[00:23:47] [SPEAKER_01]: And they were smart by doing that because you don't see Nintendo laying anybody off.

[00:23:50] [SPEAKER_01]: Nope.

[00:23:50] [SPEAKER_01]: You don't see any of the Nintendo affiliated studios laying anybody off there's actually hiring.

[00:23:56] [SPEAKER_01]: You know to deliver on projects so it is it is sad to see this and I do hope that those people you know land on their feet.

[00:24:05] [SPEAKER_01]: And others people that have already been out there from other studios going hey we've got jobs open come apply for him and stuff like that so I think that's huge thing that's the one thing that regardless of which studio it is under which umbrella where it's PlayStation Xbox or whatever it is right.

[00:24:19] [SPEAKER_01]: You definitely see these studios already reaching out going we have positions available.

[00:24:24] [SPEAKER_01]: Like go apply for them like they're they're constantly supporting each other when things like this happen.

[00:24:29] [SPEAKER_01]: I think that's the one great thing about the community is that yes even though we do have the comp you know the quote unquote console warriors right who are it's Xbox or nothing PlayStation and Nintendo or nothing right is you have the studio going.

[00:24:43] [SPEAKER_01]: Come on over like will help you so.

[00:24:47] [SPEAKER_01]: Now to continuing on the downtrend.

[00:24:52] [SPEAKER_01]: Everybody in the gaming world woke up to this news the other day.

[00:24:59] [SPEAKER_01]: Game and former has closed so.

[00:25:04] [SPEAKER_01]: So when you go to game and former calm which there is no Twitter account anymore it is gone like it is completely gone.

[00:25:14] [SPEAKER_01]: You are greeted with this message the final level very well from game and former after 33 thrilling years of bringing you the latest news reviews and insights from the ever evolving world of gaming it is with a heavy heart that we announced the closure of game and for.

[00:25:28] [SPEAKER_01]: From the early days of pixelated adventures to today's immersive virtual realms we've been honored to share this incredible journey with you are loyal readers.

[00:25:36] [SPEAKER_01]: While our presses may stop the passion for gaming that we've cultivated together will continue to live on thank you for being a part of our epic quest and may your own gaming adventures never end.

[00:25:47] [SPEAKER_01]: So a lot of the employees found out on Twitter.

[00:25:50] [SPEAKER_01]: A lot of employees found out going to the website because they couldn't log in they couldn't access any of their stuff.

[00:25:59] [SPEAKER_01]: So no way they've killed the website a lot of these journalists can't get to their work to use as hey here's examples of my work because they're all saved on that like the company service for a dick.

[00:26:12] [SPEAKER_02]: They're all damn it is all gone.

[00:26:15] [SPEAKER_02]: They weren't even given a chance like damn it sucks.

[00:26:20] [SPEAKER_00]: I just wonder like what did you have had some safe data like on your personal computer or like you know.

[00:26:27] [SPEAKER_02]: Well I'm sure some that like trusted that they would be able to have access.

[00:26:32] [SPEAKER_02]: Some of those back up but it's still company.

[00:26:35] [SPEAKER_02]: Technically it's still company property right.

[00:26:37] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah it's still you know it was created on the job.

[00:26:39] [SPEAKER_01]: That is true.

[00:26:41] [SPEAKER_01]: You know but here's the thing is I've already started taking shots across the bout GameStop because here's the thing is this is what fucking GameStop is getting into now.

[00:26:54] [SPEAKER_01]: Read that really great trading cards there is signage that is all popped up across their stores they have redone their stores to include a big trading card you know game section TCG section everything like that.

[00:27:10] [SPEAKER_01]: They answer the phone promoting this.

[00:27:15] [SPEAKER_01]: So you're telling me you're going to go get involved with the graded card and this is and we're looking at games.com you can go to just for those you know that are watching at home currently right now when you go to GameStop.com.

[00:27:31] [SPEAKER_01]: This is the very freaking thing that launches right here buy and sell graded cards they now have a graded trading cards tab up at the top.

[00:27:41] [SPEAKER_01]: So you're telling me you want to go and get involved with this BS and then you want to lay off the staff at Game Informer.

[00:27:51] [SPEAKER_01]: Tell me they're not related.

[00:27:54] [SPEAKER_02]: Wow so who knows maybe like the collectible card is going to make a research and kind of like comics and no I mean there's always been a there's always been that like demand you know yeah there's always been that like normal demand but.

[00:28:11] [SPEAKER_02]: Or maybe it's just having a moment right now.

[00:28:14] [SPEAKER_01]: They're getting into the say like actual magic graded card.

[00:28:20] [SPEAKER_02]: Okay that's a little much so the great the graded aspect is is a bit yeah it's that's a bit much if they're going to get collectibles overall like okay cool that's helping the market but just graded means I mean that's clearly clearly like the biggest cash

[00:28:41] [SPEAKER_02]: grab like in your face.

[00:28:44] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah I'm like looking at this like let's look at the program ones they have no picture okay so they've got like a trainer here for like and this is what's funny is they're going to pay you GameStop prices for your graded shit.

[00:29:01] [SPEAKER_01]: And then they're going to turn around and sell it like look at this look at this discount you're getting for those that have the pros membership you're going to be able to buy this card for $80 versus somebody else just buying it for 94 and the market is 100.

[00:29:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah make it make fucking sense yeah.

[00:29:23] [SPEAKER_01]: You know they've got to only be offering like maybe 40 bucks for that card.

[00:29:28] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah I'm curious about how much they are like yeah because that's a lot especially buying back like come on.

[00:29:36] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah so it's good but you know the games the games have people to get extra 50% you know so yeah I mean they're getting into this market and it's like some of the stuff is only like 20 bucks or they're just or they're getting the cards themselves.

[00:29:51] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah I mean this is a bad move.

[00:29:55] [SPEAKER_01]: That's ridiculous that's pretty ridiculous.

[00:29:58] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean let's look at this we know baseball cards are ridiculously expensive like but even then they're like getting into this market they have.

[00:30:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Wow.

[00:30:07] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm sorry when I think of graded baseball cards I'm not going to think a GameStop.

[00:30:12] [SPEAKER_02]: No.

[00:30:13] [SPEAKER_02]: And sooner or later who knows they might be they might start selling graded comic books.

[00:30:22] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm not going to GameStop to buy a fucking graded comic book.

[00:30:24] [SPEAKER_01]: I will go to my comic book my local comic book dealer and like so I think Wow here's the thing is I've seen a lot of people that are basically now going we want nothing to do with GameStop now you've been screwing up our pre-orders.

[00:30:37] [SPEAKER_01]: You know now you're closing off GameStop or a game informer all together which is part of your pro membership.

[00:30:43] [SPEAKER_01]: That was like one of the things it's like go pro and you know.

[00:30:51] [SPEAKER_01]: So here's the thing is like now this is all you get for the pro membership is when you sign up for it you get a five dollar welcome reward you get a five dollar renewal reward when your membership auto renews.

[00:31:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Keep in mind they're now auto renewing that bullshit.

[00:31:06] [SPEAKER_01]: And instead of giving you the opportunity to hey let it expire and whatnot you get you know 12 month five dollar keep on switch you can no longer use for in game currencies.

[00:31:19] [SPEAKER_01]: So it can't be used $5 towards a PSN card and Nintendo card and Xbox card.

[00:31:24] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh really like yeah that's stupid.

[00:31:28] [SPEAKER_01]: You know you get free shipping on 54 box to get 10% extra trade credit.

[00:31:32] [SPEAKER_01]: You get 5% off all and they have now put this rate square up in front right you get 5% off of all graded trading cards digital games virtual currencies.

[00:31:44] [SPEAKER_01]: Now what's funny is virtual currencies it doesn't let you use your your GameStop credit card on the website to buy those.

[00:31:52] [SPEAKER_01]: You have to go and store for that.

[00:31:56] [SPEAKER_01]: You know you get to present back in rewards overall like this is everything that they're doing like it's $25 or like or I don't know how much it is hold on let's find out how much it is.

[00:32:11] [SPEAKER_01]: It's $25 a year $25 a freaking year for that now so 25.

[00:32:19] [SPEAKER_01]: 25.

[00:32:21] [SPEAKER_01]: It's now up to $25 a year for their GameStop pro rewards membership now that's it.

[00:32:32] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah you get some $60 in coupons every year but they're limiting what you can spend those on big whoop you know yeah you save 50 cents on a $10 PSN card big whoop you know big money like maybe on Black Friday.

[00:32:51] [SPEAKER_01]: So yeah.

[00:32:53] [SPEAKER_01]: Shit.

[00:32:55] [SPEAKER_01]: You know they'll turn that off like no if you're getting this higher discount sorry we can't help you with that right so overall right it.

[00:33:05] [SPEAKER_01]: I was already thinking about not renewing mine this year anyways because I don't really use it I don't go in there for a lot of stuff anymore.

[00:33:12] [SPEAKER_01]: Like I mean part of it's because I'm digital only right and whatnot but anything that I knew game that I really want to have I can just pre-order at Best Buy to you know and and whatnot so.

[00:33:27] [SPEAKER_02]: I I only ever go for my for my pre-orders as well so so I mean yeah but trading card thing that is just that's that's out of nowhere I don't get that I don't get that either.

[00:33:44] [SPEAKER_00]: That's a bold move cotton.

[00:33:45] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah bold move cotton that officially got the stamp old bold move cotton.

[00:33:51] [SPEAKER_02]: Got the head shake don't know about that one don't know about that one.

[00:33:55] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah I just actually let's go look at our cause like an or La Cona's got some really expensive stuff now like first of all your.

[00:34:07] [SPEAKER_02]: Look at this shit literally screwed them screwed up the market to save you.

[00:34:16] [SPEAKER_02]: So be cool.

[00:34:18] [SPEAKER_01]: Look at this is a three hundred dollar card.

[00:34:21] [SPEAKER_01]: It's pretty great and they're selling it for two eighty four so they're already selling it fifteen dollars below market to begin with then with the pro membership right now you could buy the card for two hundred forty two dollars.

[00:34:35] [SPEAKER_02]: So that's an it's enticing and what's the level what's the level it's a oh it's a nine say nine.

[00:34:42] [SPEAKER_02]: Because that's enticing like that gets that gets that would get a collector thinking like you know that's not too bad and I'm ordering it online and I guarantee like you know what I mean.

[00:34:54] [SPEAKER_02]: I just don't get it like why and why.

[00:34:58] [SPEAKER_02]: Okay okay yeah I get that never mind.

[00:35:02] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah I mean there's some ridiculously rare cards but what I'm saying is like why are you getting into this bullshit like you're requiring the cards be graded like for me though.

[00:35:11] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:35:11] [SPEAKER_01]: Being that I used to play like Magic the Gathering and I played Final Fantasy for me the first place I'm going to go to get a card is either my local car shop that sells singles or I'm going to go to TCG player like.

[00:35:32] [SPEAKER_01]: Keep in mind let's.

[00:35:35] [SPEAKER_00]: Don't get it.

[00:35:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Here let's let's just compare right what's the name of this card.

[00:35:42] [SPEAKER_01]: It is.

[00:35:46] [SPEAKER_01]: Bell so let's just.

[00:35:50] [SPEAKER_01]: Bay.

[00:35:53] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay so.

[00:35:56] [SPEAKER_02]: That car she is okay so to 12.

[00:36:00] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah so first chapter 214 bell strange but special enchanted.

[00:36:07] [SPEAKER_01]: So that's so they even have the like the different version on here right.

[00:36:13] [SPEAKER_01]: Market's 250.

[00:36:16] [SPEAKER_01]: And you can get it for 212 on here.

[00:36:20] [SPEAKER_01]: Like.

[00:36:21] [SPEAKER_01]: And this is what I'm talking about is like for me is as a collectible trading card game player this is where my first stop is right.

[00:36:31] [SPEAKER_02]: But but once again.

[00:36:34] [SPEAKER_02]: The the other enticing part is that it's already graded this is not graded.

[00:36:40] [SPEAKER_02]: Okay.

[00:36:42] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm just saying it does make a difference to the collector to the collector it makes a difference.

[00:36:51] [SPEAKER_00]: A random person to like the us that you know have the regular and who want to collect the whole set where like.

[00:36:59] [SPEAKER_02]: Okay that makes sense that's a rare.

[00:37:02] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:37:02] [SPEAKER_02]: You know I can keep it in my collection boom like I would yeah you know you know what I mean but to those other like hardcore collectors.

[00:37:14] [SPEAKER_02]: And you know they're great.

[00:37:16] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah yeah.

[00:37:18] [SPEAKER_00]: But I personally have cards that I bought that were at the time like a dollar and then now they've increased in value to like $45.

[00:37:31] [SPEAKER_00]: But the thing is that I would shuffle riffle shuffle not like not to like spread the cards out or like you know.

[00:37:41] [SPEAKER_00]: Hand over like over under shuffle riffle shuffle like casino shuffle these things and people are like yeah I don't use shuffling it man do you know how much that card is like yeah I bought it for a dollar so you know what's a $40 card well it was a dollar in my eyes so.

[00:37:59] [SPEAKER_00]: No that's my card you know.

[00:38:01] [SPEAKER_02]: You know what that's up to you dude that's cool because you know that's how you like to play that's how you know it makes you feel awesome.

[00:38:11] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah even though that is like.

[00:38:13] [SPEAKER_00]: It just totally just messes with other people they're like what are you shuffling like that because I am playing the game but that's how you play like I understand that I get it.

[00:38:24] [SPEAKER_00]: No I'm not here to like.

[00:38:26] [SPEAKER_01]: So here's the thing is let's let's talk about I get this one is great so let's take that out of you quick so yeah for a mint so fresh out of the package mint.

[00:38:36] [SPEAKER_01]: PSA to 36.

[00:38:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay it's a PSN okay.

[00:38:42] [SPEAKER_01]: 236 if you're pro you can get 35 bucks off of it which is like what 15% if I do my math correctly.

[00:38:48] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah it'd be okay I can come to TCG player a near mint hollow foil which is pretty much what that is right 100 bucks.

[00:39:00] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah and then if I really want to go turn around go get it graded but what I'm saying is like I am not GameStop is not my first place for this shit.

[00:39:09] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah I know why they're doing this why this is this is dumb.

[00:39:13] [SPEAKER_02]: So like like I mean us as collectors but us three individuals I mean we would go that route by take the chance and buy that card and be and pay the like 25 $30 to get it sent in and get it graded because that's part of the experience and that's the fun.

[00:39:32] [SPEAKER_02]: Correct.

[00:39:33] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:39:35] [SPEAKER_02]: It's kind of.

[00:39:38] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah it just can't stray away from like the cash grab element it's just it feels like cheating just buying like unless unless like you go to a con where you directly like want to buy one or two specific comics or cards that are graded because you know they're hard to come by that's different.

[00:39:59] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:40:00] [SPEAKER_02]: This this is just streamlining and kind of I don't know kind of bastardizing the whole fun of it.

[00:40:08] [SPEAKER_00]: Well here's what I'm going to tell you is that a lot of people now I guess to an extent to an extent.

[00:40:12] [SPEAKER_00]: A lot of people now unless they are trained in figuring out if it's a fake or not now there's going to be a lot of fakes in the market that go up.

[00:40:21] [SPEAKER_00]: Now I'm going to lie to you because if they like a lot of places that do the greetings back at PSA you know of course they have like their stamps and stuff like that but collect but like collectors and the people that go to like card shops go to like for us me and Jerry frankinsons you

[00:40:44] [SPEAKER_00]: know they have like ways to detect if it's a fraud or not but if you go to a game stop and you're like hey like I have this PSA nine I just like you know I was holding on to I was holding on to it you know like give them the whole like yeah I need to get some money for rent this week and blah blah blah blah blah blah blah you know.

[00:41:04] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah they're going to just accept it and just they're going to look at it and be like oh yeah it looks great it has all the stamps and stuff like.

[00:41:11] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah that that can easily that is true easily be done so I mean it's just going to open the market a little bit for those that are good and fortune which not a fan of it's not it's not great.

[00:41:23] [SPEAKER_00]: Because in order for you to verify it you have to break that you have to break it open and once you break it open then it's yeah completely and really well you have to get a great again great again no one boy yeah and unfortunately the people who don't really know any better.

[00:41:41] [SPEAKER_02]: You are just like I would say like the novice like kind of collector or someone who would see it like oh that's interesting yeah I'll buy it and just you know buy it to buy it or buy it because it's interesting or they're not necessarily a collector.

[00:41:54] [SPEAKER_02]: And then like you said it's those people that can just you know mimic everything and essentially sell the fakes you know that sucks that the customers get that too.

[00:42:09] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah so I think for me overall though I think you'll get in hand you are yeah so you killed off your entire staff of.

[00:42:21] [SPEAKER_01]: Game and former and then turned around and started getting into collectible cards it is a bummer great shit like really come on is that I mean game stop is already hurting enough.

[00:42:32] [SPEAKER_01]: What the hell what you Disney has a card game by the way yeah it is huge I've got one of my big the guys that are on my team like he goes around like trying to buy the packs like.

[00:42:46] [SPEAKER_02]: Like a good portion of my coworkers collect yeah what kind of big dude.

[00:42:54] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah it's everywhere.

[00:42:58] [SPEAKER_00]: Oh yeah wow.

[00:43:00] [SPEAKER_00]: Okay.

[00:43:02] [SPEAKER_00]: Interesting.

[00:43:05] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah that's weird weird weird unbelievable.

[00:43:11] [SPEAKER_00]: If you got enough money just throw it into a card game why not right this or collecting cards or just appear collector.

[00:43:20] [SPEAKER_00]: I did.

[00:43:25] [SPEAKER_00]: That kind of like wowed me for a second.

[00:43:29] [SPEAKER_00]: This.

[00:43:30] [SPEAKER_02]: What but but it is an actual like magic type type of it is sure it is yeah there is that but no I started just appear collecting card.

[00:43:44] [SPEAKER_00]: Wow yeah wow okay it's awesome okay so yeah it's.

[00:43:52] [SPEAKER_00]: Oh you know some some some things you know you just don't need to get into you know like I was telling Jerry it's just like the old.

[00:44:03] [SPEAKER_00]: C&C music factory songs going things that make you go hmm yeah just yeah like not just that but I mean I was telling Jerry like.

[00:44:13] [SPEAKER_00]: One of the things that I kind of miss like low key is hero clicks and yeah that didn't last that long.

[00:44:20] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean come on Amiibos are dying out like you're now those used to be everywhere now they're just kind of like few and far between they're doing some reprints here and there.

[00:44:28] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah but.

[00:44:30] [SPEAKER_02]: It's really I think they're really keeping it around for like that niche collecting market where like.

[00:44:35] [SPEAKER_01]: Of course there's still the thing is though they completely like revamped their stores for this they're like going all in they're like dumping in that they're dumping in the deep end like.

[00:44:45] [SPEAKER_01]: My entire store did a rearrangement of where now they have a good 30 but section wow that's all gonna be collectible card games.

[00:44:57] [SPEAKER_01]: Wow oh yeah yeah it's they're going all in so yeah wow.

[00:45:04] [SPEAKER_01]: You know it's like you guys said bold move cotton.

[00:45:08] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah all move so we'll see.

[00:45:12] [SPEAKER_02]: Pokemon is just getting more and more popular and you know what really it is is like they're probably seeing the craze the tiktok crazes at targets with when they get shipments of those bulk Pokemon packages dude everyone's picking them up it's ridiculous.

[00:45:32] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah like target and Walmart.

[00:45:36] [SPEAKER_00]: It's crazy yeah you have to be it's it's it's like it's like stock trading over there it's like it's like currency exchange stocks you know it's it's you have to invest.

[00:45:51] [SPEAKER_02]: You almost have to know the delivery schedules to for the for those things easy that's easy man that's easy to know.

[00:45:57] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah yeah it's not like it's a difficult thing to like figure out but yeah you got to be you got to be really dive into this report to be like a remotely profitable remotely.

[00:46:16] [SPEAKER_01]: So interesting yeah so Jerry.

[00:46:20] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah what you playing.

[00:46:24] [SPEAKER_02]: Well.

[00:46:27] [SPEAKER_02]: The last couple weeks have been a little well the last week other than comic con getting back into things have been a little timely so I've just needed something to kind of ease me back into things so I have been playing Red Dead a little bit.

[00:46:45] [SPEAKER_02]: I've taken a I have taken a few shots at Sephiroth.

[00:46:51] [SPEAKER_02]: It is still frustrating so I did need to take some time from that so I got easier though it hasn't gotten better but but your strategy is uncanny I am using that it is great.

[00:47:05] [SPEAKER_02]: So yeah it's just caught up at the end just the end once again it's just like OK I mean I keep looking for it.

[00:47:13] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah but other than that I'm just you know I'll go back to Red Dead just calm down and then I'm going to go try it again or we need to plan a piece of night or something.

[00:47:26] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah I mean.

[00:47:28] [SPEAKER_01]: Does Jason come over do it for you.

[00:47:30] [SPEAKER_01]: Well no.

[00:47:30] [SPEAKER_02]: No because the first time when he showed me I was I did it the next time and I was like holy crap that was super quick.

[00:47:39] [SPEAKER_00]: So listeners out there you know obviously I wanted to see Jerry and Theo when Theo was down for San Diego Comic Con.

[00:47:47] [SPEAKER_00]: And I was supposed to Jerry hit me up or hit me up Sunday but you know there's a lot of moving a lot of cleaning and it's allowed to do at my house.

[00:47:57] [SPEAKER_00]: So it was just you know overwhelming when you know it's life you know but yeah I'm definitely going to get in touch with Jerry and be like you know like that's it.

[00:48:09] [SPEAKER_00]: Let's just I want Jerry to see the ending he's right there you know and I've you know I give him a lot of shit.

[00:48:17] [SPEAKER_00]: I give him a lot of grief.

[00:48:19] [SPEAKER_00]: A lot of a lot of a lot of smack talk about this but you know he's he's actually trying to finish it he just needs a little help.

[00:48:30] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah not afraid for it to ask for help especially with that like it is frustrating like it like and that's the thing.

[00:48:38] [SPEAKER_02]: This is the one one part that is like really frustrating me which is fine because that's like that's cool I like the challenge but yeah asking for help so then.

[00:48:49] [SPEAKER_02]: So there.

[00:48:49] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah those of what I've been playing and I actually dusted off my switch a little bit I've been playing a little bit of Mario.

[00:48:56] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah which Mario.

[00:48:58] [SPEAKER_02]: A bit of wonder and then a little bit of Mario and Donkey Kong.

[00:49:04] [SPEAKER_02]: Okay.

[00:49:05] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah so that was fun.

[00:49:09] [SPEAKER_02]: But I think I'm going to do a Zelda.

[00:49:12] [SPEAKER_02]: A Link's Awakening run in lieu of Echoes.

[00:49:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Echoes coming out next.

[00:49:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Dude they released a like a what a five ten minute trailer.

[00:49:21] [SPEAKER_02]: That's kind of why I was in that car.

[00:49:24] [SPEAKER_02]: I missed that game.

[00:49:25] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah but J-Bomb.

[00:49:29] [SPEAKER_02]: What have you been playing?

[00:49:31] [SPEAKER_00]: For me I've just been doing the side quests and the Platinum run on rebirth.

[00:49:41] [SPEAKER_00]: So just doing here and there I am at my final boss.

[00:49:47] [SPEAKER_00]: Gangaga.

[00:49:48] [SPEAKER_00]: I hate that zone with the life of me.

[00:49:52] [SPEAKER_00]: So that is my final boss right now I am already I just zoned in and I am already.

[00:50:00] [SPEAKER_02]: Already over it.

[00:50:03] [SPEAKER_00]: I hate that zone.

[00:50:04] [SPEAKER_00]: Like it's a great it's a great like aesthetically you know when you go through it the first time you're like oh man amazing but to do the side quest and the.

[00:50:17] [SPEAKER_00]: The side quest of Platinum grind that place is a nightmare.

[00:50:21] [SPEAKER_00]: I already hate it.

[00:50:23] [SPEAKER_00]: I am not looking forward to it at all.

[00:50:26] [SPEAKER_00]: Other than that like Platinum grinding.

[00:50:30] [SPEAKER_00]: Trying to just finish up shows.

[00:50:34] [SPEAKER_00]: Me and my wife run the last episode of the bear.

[00:50:38] [SPEAKER_02]: And after the bear we're going to finish that.

[00:50:41] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah we're gonna binge the shit out of the boys.

[00:50:45] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh I've been telling you about that too yeah.

[00:50:49] [SPEAKER_00]: So we're gonna binge it because we knew if we watched it.

[00:50:52] [SPEAKER_00]: If we watch it weekly we're gonna like rip our hair out so it's about time we're finally just binge it out.

[00:51:02] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:51:03] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah and also Jujutsu Kaisen JJK we're finishing that off as well so you know we're catching up on shows a little bit more.

[00:51:13] [SPEAKER_00]: We are doing a lot of like moving and cleaning in our house so you know it's that takes precedent.

[00:51:24] [SPEAKER_00]: Were you guys moving to Jay?

[00:51:26] [SPEAKER_00]: No we're not moving moving we're just like shuffling the house.

[00:51:30] [SPEAKER_00]: Rearranging.

[00:51:33] Yeah.

[00:51:34] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah it's good.

[00:51:37] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm at.

[00:51:38] [SPEAKER_02]: And Matt what have you been playing other than clearly the addiction of course.

[00:51:44] [SPEAKER_00]: I just didn't know.

[00:51:46] [SPEAKER_00]: I would just say most likely.

[00:51:48] [SPEAKER_00]: What a dodge is that?

[00:51:51] [SPEAKER_00]: That's what me and Jared need to know.

[00:51:54] [SPEAKER_01]: I finally lost the game.

[00:51:57] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh no.

[00:51:57] [SPEAKER_01]: I am now like I went 11 and one over the last 12 games.

[00:52:01] [SPEAKER_01]: I am two and a half games over the Dodgers still.

[00:52:06] [SPEAKER_02]: Okay.

[00:52:07] [SPEAKER_01]: I am a game and a half up on the Diamondbacks.

[00:52:10] [SPEAKER_01]: I now have a pitcher in the running for the Saiyong.

[00:52:16] [SPEAKER_01]: My team three of my starting five pitchers are all leading the majors in strikeouts.

[00:52:24] [SPEAKER_01]: My team I'm finally starting to get some of the offense rolling again.

[00:52:30] [SPEAKER_01]: So finally got a good core of the young versus the veterans and stuff up from the minors and all that it's been great.

[00:52:40] [SPEAKER_01]: But Mass Effect 2.

[00:52:43] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh sweet.

[00:52:44] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay.

[00:52:44] [SPEAKER_01]: I've now recruited everybody minus the geth that you get a little bit later on.

[00:52:49] [SPEAKER_02]: I completed was was that DLC or was it the other the bug?

[00:52:59] [SPEAKER_02]: It was part of it.

[00:53:00] [SPEAKER_02]: And the book became.

[00:53:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Yep.

[00:53:04] [SPEAKER_01]: I just completed the layer of the Shadow Broker DLC.

[00:53:09] [SPEAKER_01]: So I've got Leara back and started my romance with her again.

[00:53:13] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh yeah.

[00:53:15] [SPEAKER_01]: I went Leara in Mass Effect 1.

[00:53:17] [SPEAKER_01]: So actually was my victim on Var Mar.

[00:53:21] [SPEAKER_01]: I was like no you're you you are an alien hating person go away.

[00:53:26] [SPEAKER_01]: Dang sacrifice her.

[00:53:30] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah I've got the loyalty missions done for Jack, Jacob and Miranda plus the heat and Kitsumi.

[00:53:40] [SPEAKER_01]: So I'm just I've got five more little missions to do like I remember how to do like how to get the end of it.

[00:53:47] [SPEAKER_01]: And run the suicide mission to get everybody through you got to get all the loyalty missions.

[00:53:51] [SPEAKER_02]: Actually I remember you described that to me before.

[00:53:54] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh yeah.

[00:53:56] [SPEAKER_01]: That's right.

[00:53:58] [SPEAKER_01]: And you have to do it just the way where you have to do Miranda and Jack pretty much right there almost after each other and don't talk to them because it ends up sometimes pissing the other person off and then you can't do the loyalty mission.

[00:54:14] [SPEAKER_01]: So you have to do it just right.

[00:54:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Because Jack at a Cerberus facility.

[00:54:21] [SPEAKER_01]: She hates Cerberus Miranda works for Cerberus.

[00:54:23] [SPEAKER_01]: So if you walk in and you can't save that conversation and you end up going renegade with it.

[00:54:31] [SPEAKER_01]: One of them will tell you to screw off and then you can't complete their loyalty mission.

[00:54:35] [SPEAKER_01]: So you got to do it just the right way.

[00:54:38] [SPEAKER_01]: So I've got there there's done.

[00:54:40] [SPEAKER_01]: And then yes.

[00:54:44] [SPEAKER_01]: Animal crack.

[00:54:46] [SPEAKER_02]: There it is.

[00:54:48] [SPEAKER_01]: I still haven't had any shooting star night so I can't get the shooting stars to do my new space module.

[00:54:56] [SPEAKER_01]: So but I have finished the major moves on my island and I'm actually feeling really good on where it's at right now.

[00:55:04] [SPEAKER_01]: So I'm not going to be screwing around anything else for right now.

[00:55:07] [SPEAKER_01]: I like the way it feels and looks and stuff.

[00:55:11] [SPEAKER_01]: I may put like redo two bridges like and move them to different spots but the major movements for everything else is done.

[00:55:20] [SPEAKER_01]: So I'm pretty happy with it so I'm liking it so but yeah it's been it's been alright though.

[00:55:28] [SPEAKER_01]: Nice.

[00:55:29] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh and I played a little more no a little Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3.

[00:55:37] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh nice.

[00:55:39] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah I picked back up where I left off and of course I'm running Wolverine and Daredevil or not Daredevil Deadpool.

[00:55:47] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh nice.

[00:55:49] [SPEAKER_01]: My team I am running Captain Marvel.

[00:55:53] [SPEAKER_01]: Scarlet Witch Deadpool and Wolverine for my my for right now.

[00:55:57] [SPEAKER_01]: And then on the watching side I I've been watching the acolyte it's okay it's been getting better you know it's not the best Star Wars show.

[00:56:05] [SPEAKER_01]: For me but I've been enjoying it.

[00:56:09] [SPEAKER_01]: You know the actor from Squid Game is really good in it and I think that's what's kept me a little bit more engaged in it because he of all the work he did to get to put into that role.

[00:56:18] [SPEAKER_01]: He learned English just for this role.

[00:56:22] [SPEAKER_01]: So that's kept me a little bit more engaged in it.

[00:56:24] [SPEAKER_02]: I'll give it a chance.

[00:56:26] [SPEAKER_02]: I'll give it a try.

[00:56:28] [SPEAKER_01]: And then I did watch the Marvels as well.

[00:56:34] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh yeah I watched that from time to time it was fun.

[00:56:37] [SPEAKER_02]: It was fun.

[00:56:38] [SPEAKER_02]: It definitely has its problems.

[00:56:41] [SPEAKER_02]: It has its problems but honest but it's not Aqua Man.

[00:56:46] [SPEAKER_02]: I told you bro I told you it is way better than I'm sorry I thought you had access to my HBO that's why I was like oh yeah watch it but you know yeah don't pay for it.

[00:56:58] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah so.

[00:56:59] [SPEAKER_02]: My bad sorry I love you Jason Momoa I love you you're the man but.

[00:57:05] [SPEAKER_02]: And I love Michael Keaton and it's so good that the flash.

[00:57:09] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh yeah I mean yeah everyone knew about that that was a train wreck.

[00:57:15] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah and a half so I think they need to I think the direction they're going with the new the changes the MCU if they hopefully it's going to restrain it back out a little bit.

[00:57:26] [SPEAKER_01]: I know Jason don't care.

[00:57:29] [SPEAKER_02]: And you know a lot of people are saying you know DC is looking good even in regards to the.

[00:57:37] [SPEAKER_02]: The pictures that have leaked you know especially with the suit it looks so good still kind of optimistic James.

[00:57:45] [SPEAKER_01]: So here's my thing is it's James Gunn so he really does it screw up much in the comic book world so.

[00:57:54] [SPEAKER_02]: Or really like yeah I mean and that's the other thing he's a director where we have truly enjoyed his touch.

[00:58:02] [SPEAKER_02]: He clearly has his his kind of style and look so yeah I mean either way I'm interested to see it.

[00:58:12] [SPEAKER_02]: And the cast is is that was that's the other thing that he does very well he cast his movies very well.

[00:58:20] [SPEAKER_02]: Or or whoever helps him cast so like that interests me too.

[00:58:27] [SPEAKER_01]: So we'll see what happens but anyways for those that did you know even lurked in the background crashed game night on both YouTube and Twitch tonight.

[00:58:39] [SPEAKER_01]: Thank you for crashing game night with us.

[00:59:48] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you know things are getting crazy out there and I think we all need to can you know continue trying and putting out the effort to you know express a little bit more patience.

[01:00:01] [SPEAKER_02]: Let's help each other out from time to time if we can if we see the opportunity.

[01:00:07] [SPEAKER_02]: You know lend a helping hand.

[01:00:09] [SPEAKER_02]: Give each other a crisp high five or a hug if deemed okay and let's just be safe out there and let's just try and do and be better and you know just try and be a little bit more kinder to one another and and promote that because we need to we need to make a change.

[01:00:29] [SPEAKER_02]: So thank you guys and be safe out there.

[01:00:32] [SPEAKER_02]: Jay rock Jay rock send them out baby.
