Episode 295 - L.A. Comic Con In Review & 343 Industries Is No More…..Sorta

On this episode we discuss our impressions of LA Comic Con as well as the rebranding of 343 Industries.

[00:00:09] And with that, I want to welcome everybody to Crashing Game Night. My name is Matt DiOrio, your host.

[00:00:15] As always, tonight we are joined by the man formerly known as The Champ, the beanied one, Gerard Barrera.

[00:00:24] Hey, how's it going nerds? What's going on? And how y'all doing? Hope you're doing well.

[00:00:32] And we are joined by the babyface one, the man as the new champion as the ring has come.

[00:00:41] I gotta go John Cena with this.

[00:00:45] You only see a floating ring, right?

[00:00:49] Theo Wolski.

[00:00:51] What's up everybody?

[00:00:54] About time the current champ is in Colorado.

[00:00:58] Oh.

[00:00:59] Right?

[00:01:01] And, last but not least, the maitre d' of services, the man with the catch, the man, the myth, the legend, the lion's mane, Jason Valetio.

[00:01:09] How's it going guys? How's it going tonight?

[00:01:13] Oh man.

[00:01:15] Theo, first and foremost congratulations on your first W.

[00:01:19] Tidal reign.

[00:01:21] You know, just want to say congratulations again.

[00:01:23] Yeah.

[00:01:25] You know, it was a long hard five battle that I was not a part of for a good solid 15 minutes.

[00:01:32] 20 minutes.

[00:01:33] Got out pretty early on that, but it's alright man. It's alright.

[00:01:38] It was fun.

[00:01:38] I mean, that was a lot of, that was a lot of fun, or I'm sure you had a lot of fun in jail that round.

[00:01:43] I mean, dude.

[00:01:46] I, I, that one was four straight runs.

[00:01:49] We, we got around the board four times before you got the one.

[00:01:54] That was insane.

[00:01:55] Oh, man.

[00:01:58] Oh, but it was a good, it was a good trip.

[00:02:01] So let's, let's talk about it.

[00:02:03] Cause we got a lot of talk about with LA comic-con and our impressions.

[00:02:08] Uh, we spent Friday and Saturday there at the convention center.

[00:02:13] Um, and then Sunday was of course our monopoly day and, and hang out.

[00:02:17] But first and foremost, I want to say that felt really weird being there for the first time in five years.

[00:02:26] Yeah. I think we all said it and felt it.

[00:02:29] It, I didn't think it would hit as hard until we stepped foot through those doors for the first time.

[00:02:36] Yeah.

[00:02:37] And, and like you guys knew where kind of where we were.

[00:02:41] It took me like, I was a little lost and that took me a minute to be like, oh damn.

[00:02:46] Okay. I know where we, where we would be if it was, you know, E3.

[00:02:50] Yeah.

[00:02:51] Nintendo here's PlayStation.

[00:02:53] Yeah.

[00:02:54] Um, Xbox before they moved, um, you know, and, and Southall and all that.

[00:02:59] But, um, but it was weird.

[00:03:02] And I was even, um, you know, when I went to one of the panels and I was talking to Andrea Renee, she said the same thing.

[00:03:08] It was like, last time we were all there for gaming was five years ago.

[00:03:12] Like, it does not seem like it was that long that the last E3 happened.

[00:03:18] And.

[00:03:19] You know, it's, it's missed.

[00:03:22] But we all know it's, it's dead.

[00:03:25] He three is dead. So, um, you know, predominantly we went, um, on a mission for the adorable because, you know, he had a lot, a lot he needed to see.

[00:03:38] And.

[00:03:41] We got to, uh, you know, stand in an enormously long line for Christopher Lloyd.

[00:03:46] Mm. Mm.

[00:03:48] Mm.

[00:03:48] I was definitely taken aback by how long that was.

[00:03:53] But at the same time, I feel like it took a lot longer than I expected to, but that came, came to fruition.

[00:04:02] Once I saw, uh, how long it took Christopher Lloyd to sign a single signature and the amount of people that we saw with multiple things.

[00:04:12] Uh, I mean, they were certainly taking the, the opportunity of, uh, uh, uh, this may not be, uh, what, one of his.

[00:04:20] I definitely like.

[00:04:22] I remember what you, what you mentioned, uh, Matt.

[00:04:25] I definitely agree.

[00:04:25] There should be a cap.

[00:04:26] Like I agree on like maybe three items at most, but damn.

[00:04:32] Some people buy like bag full of shit.

[00:04:36] Dude.

[00:04:36] There was a, there was a family in front of me that brought in four guitars.

[00:04:41] For him to sign.

[00:04:43] So like.

[00:04:43] That wasn't even the, like a lot of it.

[00:04:45] Some dude brought a bag of like stuff that he paid for to get signed.

[00:04:50] Like, yeah.

[00:04:50] Like almost like eight items, man.

[00:04:52] Yeah.

[00:04:53] It was ridiculous.

[00:04:54] That's, that's your, that's your right to do so, man.

[00:04:56] Like if you, if you were going to any convention and you want to see one person, you know, there's your, like, I mean, I mean, Christopher Lloyd ain't gonna complain about somebody paying.

[00:05:09] No, no, no, no.

[00:05:10] No, no, no.

[00:05:11] But I think it's for me where it is.

[00:05:13] In a matter of 30 seconds.

[00:05:15] I just think that's a bit excessive.

[00:05:17] I mean, I think for you guys, but I mean, like.

[00:05:20] But Jay, it isn't just their own personal memorabilia though.

[00:05:23] These were, you could tell these were people that were coming to get a pop sign that were immediately going to go throw it up on eBay.

[00:05:29] Well, I mean, that's that, you know, and.

[00:05:31] That's a business too, man.

[00:05:33] That's a business too.

[00:05:35] Yeah.

[00:05:35] So I'm just saying for like, for everybody else that was just there for like single autographs.

[00:05:42] The line was twice as long because of that.

[00:05:44] Yeah.

[00:05:45] But it's like, we saw that like fan expo as well in Denver.

[00:05:48] Like there was people that would show up with tons and tons of pops just to get them all signed.

[00:05:52] Like.

[00:05:53] But I think.

[00:05:54] But to like Jason's point and to yours, like the people with a fair amount, like we're still very fan or were huge fans.

[00:06:02] Like they definitely frequently had conversations with them.

[00:06:05] So it's not like.

[00:06:06] Even if they were the monetary.

[00:06:09] Yeah.

[00:06:09] Even if they were to resell it, you know, like things happen all the time.

[00:06:13] People want to.

[00:06:13] I mean, it's anybody's business to do what they want.

[00:06:17] Like, you know, I guess I'm just speaking on if personally, I would, I would put a cap of like three things so everyone can get through the line.

[00:06:25] But yeah, I was, that was the only thing that we noticed that it was just like, damn, like some people would pay for, you know, I'm sure someone brought like, you know, as many as 10 items.

[00:06:37] Probably.

[00:06:37] Yeah, probably not.

[00:06:39] Yeah.

[00:06:39] Just, but it was interesting to see.

[00:06:41] And it was, it was still fun.

[00:06:43] We got to have a little, got to see Christopher Lloyd at, you know, at a good.

[00:06:48] Yeah, actually, he was, we actually got to see him right in person.

[00:06:51] But, you know, you actually got to say hi to him because they told us, hey, by the way, Michael J. Fox is gonna be signing autographs.

[00:06:59] It's now or never.

[00:07:01] Yeah.

[00:07:02] Having you guys with me, because if I didn't have that, I would have been screwed.

[00:07:06] We went over there.

[00:07:08] Now that being said, though, we ended up waiting a good, you know, 45 minutes over there after we left.

[00:07:15] So we would have actually had plenty of time to hang out with the O me Christopher Lloyd and go over to my J Fox.

[00:07:21] But part of the reason it was delayed was just on the fact that they were giving him breaks.

[00:07:28] And when we got to go actually go in and see him, you can tell that the Parkinson's has accelerated for him.

[00:07:37] Definitely necessary breaks for sure.

[00:07:40] Yeah. So honestly, for me, knowing his health issues, I had no problem waiting.

[00:07:44] It's like, oh, he needs a break.

[00:07:45] Oh, good. No, go for it.

[00:07:46] He'd been there part of the day.

[00:07:47] No, it was just very sweet to meet him and to see him.

[00:07:52] We were literally in that room for five hours.

[00:07:54] So we definitely know it was worth it.

[00:07:56] Yeah.

[00:07:57] Yeah.

[00:07:57] And, you know, the with him to is he did, you know, when we said thank you to him, you know, he said, you know, he said, thank you.

[00:08:05] And he also did point out Jerry's shirt for Philippe's.

[00:08:10] Yeah, yeah, yeah.

[00:08:11] That was a nice little moment there.

[00:08:13] It was very cool.

[00:08:14] And you can tell that I totally appreciate it.

[00:08:17] You could tell that it was very nice.

[00:08:19] The Parkinson's hadn't taken who he was yet.

[00:08:23] You know, it's he's still very much Michael J. Fox and, you know, people and thankful for his career.

[00:08:28] It's just it was it was it was hard seeing that because it's like for some of us, both Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd, we've grown up on them.

[00:08:38] You know, we were kind of talking about, you know, when we're in for Christopher Lloyd, the different movies we all remember in him.

[00:08:44] Like for me, it's like, you know, drink team where he's part of the guys that break out from the insane asylum.

[00:08:50] You know, there's, you know, of course, you from George Ravick, bad to the future clue.

[00:08:56] You know, you look at Michael J. Fox.

[00:08:57] I got family ties, you know, hard way.

[00:09:01] My success.

[00:09:02] That movie.

[00:09:03] I love that.

[00:09:03] You know, except for you couldn't remember the name of it.

[00:09:06] No, no, no, no.

[00:09:09] Because I always caught it on cable for like the longest time.

[00:09:12] And then I would always I would always catch it.

[00:09:15] And then it was one of those movies I would always watch kind of like Shawshank when the hard way was always on.

[00:09:20] I always watched it.

[00:09:21] So then I finally looked it up.

[00:09:25] There you go.

[00:09:26] Yeah.

[00:09:27] And then while we were waiting for.

[00:09:29] Oh, and Frighteners.

[00:09:30] Oh, man.

[00:09:31] Oh, yeah.

[00:09:31] Love Frighteners.

[00:09:32] Robert Zemeckis.

[00:09:34] Then we're waiting for Michael J. Fox.

[00:09:35] Early Peter Jackson.

[00:09:37] Theo got to go over and meet Emily Swallow.

[00:09:41] Oh, yeah.

[00:09:42] Oh, armor.

[00:09:44] She is the way.

[00:09:45] That was my second time.

[00:09:47] Before Theo got over to us and realized he could go get Emily Swallow's autograph.

[00:09:52] Jerry was professing his love to her.

[00:09:56] Jerry also professes love to Leah Thompson.

[00:09:59] Yep.

[00:10:00] Oh, yeah.

[00:10:02] So easy.

[00:10:04] Love you.

[00:10:04] You're great.

[00:10:05] You're amazing.

[00:10:06] Leah Thompson's so small.

[00:10:09] Oh, yeah.

[00:10:10] She was kind of short.

[00:10:12] Yeah.

[00:10:12] But she was so sweet.

[00:10:12] I saw her while I was in line for Christina Ricci.

[00:10:15] And she was trying to shoot.

[00:10:18] She and Tom Wilson were like competing on who could get their line a little bit more riled up.

[00:10:27] Oh, that's awesome.

[00:10:28] Oh, that's nice.

[00:10:29] I thought it was really funny that he came out and talked to his line for a little bit and saw the line for Leah Thompson was actually a little bit longer than his.

[00:10:38] Oh, yeah.

[00:10:39] I know.

[00:10:39] He ended up, but he ended up addressing them.

[00:10:41] It was like, you guys need to get better taste in stars.

[00:10:47] All out hard.

[00:10:49] I heard he's a funny like he's very funny and like very personable and like, like a really nice dude.

[00:10:57] He gave off like, Grant didn't get to talk to him, but his interactions gave off like, like, like a big teddy bear type of deal.

[00:11:06] Cool.

[00:11:07] Like he wasn't.

[00:11:10] Yeah, it wasn't like trying to scare anybody off or anything too serious or anything.

[00:11:16] He was having a great time.

[00:11:17] He was having fun.

[00:11:20] Awesome.

[00:11:20] And then we got later on that night, we got James C.

[00:11:28] who plays not only Average Man in The Last Airbender, which I had to be briefed on on that, which Theo got his autograph on his pop.

[00:11:41] And then he's also Hojo in Final Fantasy seven remake and rebirth.

[00:11:47] Also the sweetest man, like the nicest, nicest guy.

[00:11:53] We had a wonderful conversation with him and yeah, he was super cool.

[00:11:58] And we did get him.

[00:11:59] He asked us more questions than we asked him.

[00:12:01] Yeah.

[00:12:01] Yeah.

[00:12:02] We did get him added to the book.

[00:12:04] Yeah.

[00:12:05] Yeah.

[00:12:06] Nice.

[00:12:07] And he wrote in it, once a scientist, always a scientist.

[00:12:13] He he he he he he.

[00:12:15] And honestly, I could hear Hojo's voice as he was writing it.

[00:12:18] Nice.

[00:12:19] Oh, my God.

[00:12:20] Any every time we've read that so far, I keep on thinking of that viral TikTok sound of it was like when I type he is not he it's.

[00:12:32] Yeah, no, James, he was awesome.

[00:12:34] Like we got like a lot of questions.

[00:12:36] Yes.

[00:12:37] Like when we're talking about the podcast, he's like, do you enjoy doing it?

[00:12:43] Like, yeah, that's the first person that's actually really asked, hey, do we enjoy doing this right after, you know, this is episode 295 that we're recording tonight.

[00:12:53] Wow.

[00:12:53] Like 95.

[00:12:56] 295 to 295 episodes since one one of 2019.

[00:13:00] You know, that's insane.

[00:13:02] And I think I think we're getting close to my limit, man.

[00:13:05] I mean, like right around 299.

[00:13:09] Well, fine.

[00:13:10] You want to be here for 300?

[00:13:11] Go for it.

[00:13:11] Like, see you.

[00:13:13] We don't need you.

[00:13:15] Jared, I can do this.

[00:13:18] No, it's like letting me in on that too, man.

[00:13:21] No worries.

[00:13:22] No worries.

[00:13:23] Because you're it doesn't matter.

[00:13:24] All of you are supposed to be there.

[00:13:26] Yeah.

[00:13:27] All of you going to be there at 300.

[00:13:29] Yeah, baby.

[00:13:29] Need to be.

[00:13:31] Anyways, but no, it was great, like just interacting with them.

[00:13:33] And then.

[00:13:34] Yeah.

[00:13:35] We headed over to South Hall.

[00:13:39] To go see our good friends of the show, Eric and Julia Lee Wald, who had a booth over there on the floor.

[00:13:49] You know, right there with Larry Houston, which was part of the original team for X-Men.

[00:13:53] He's consulting on X-Men 97.

[00:13:57] We got to meet Guy Augustini, who plays the voice of Sunspot.

[00:14:02] Holly Cho plays Jubilee.

[00:14:05] JP, who plays Morph.

[00:14:07] You know, they were all there.

[00:14:09] Catherine.

[00:14:09] All incredibly nice.

[00:14:11] Like, you know.

[00:14:12] Yeah.

[00:14:13] Jean Grey was there as well.

[00:14:15] I can't believe they had that many of them, though, crammed in that little small booth, though, for.

[00:14:20] I was really surprised that they were like, yeah, they were in a corner like close to like either the vendors or artist alley.

[00:14:27] I forgot what side we were on.

[00:14:29] But yeah, I was like, I was kind of surprised they were like tucked somewhere like in the middle of the hall.

[00:14:36] I was surprised it wasn't bombarded, man.

[00:14:39] Like season one, 97 was great and it was popular.

[00:14:43] And I did come home with this.

[00:14:46] Thank you, Theo.

[00:14:47] Yeah.

[00:14:47] You're very welcome.

[00:14:50] And not only did we get that I get the book, which has been on my want list ever since I got Jerry one for a gift.

[00:15:00] Mm hmm.

[00:15:01] Mm hmm.

[00:15:02] Mm hmm.

[00:15:03] We got it autographed not only by Eric and Julia, but also Larry Houston as well.

[00:15:10] Mm hmm.

[00:15:11] Who we are getting everything scheduled so he can be on the on the show.

[00:15:16] So we talked about that talk to him about, you know, his pieces of it.

[00:15:22] Which when we were man, Larry, Larry is like our spirit meant the moment you get him talking about X-Men or even show him something like he'll he's already going in.

[00:15:33] This is how we were able to.

[00:15:35] So this is we flip this these scenes and then we did this.

[00:15:39] It was so like he's like, hey, this is so much fun talking to him.

[00:15:43] Yeah, it was great.

[00:15:44] Hey, you know, that was a great conversation that Saturday because you came to get your book signed and he's kind of flipped right to it.

[00:15:50] He's like, these were the storyboards.

[00:15:52] Yeah.

[00:15:53] Yeah, that was so cool out and this out.

[00:15:55] And I wanted all these other people in it, but we couldn't.

[00:15:57] We had to cut it.

[00:16:00] So he was he was great.

[00:16:04] So we are working on getting G.

[00:16:07] He.

[00:16:08] Scheduled up as well, and Holly, if she's available.

[00:16:12] So, of course, adding to the, you know, the X-Men folks we've had on the show.

[00:16:18] But yeah, and and then Sunday or Saturday, rather, that was that was our big day because Friday was a kind of like a half day for the show in itself.

[00:16:27] Right.

[00:16:28] Yeah.

[00:16:30] So.

[00:16:33] Saturday, we made Theo ditch us.

[00:16:37] We were in the line for parking.

[00:16:39] I thank you guys for talking to me to the leaving.

[00:16:42] Yeah.

[00:16:42] Because it took a lot longer than we then we anticipated for to get into the parking structure.

[00:16:48] I mean, first, it started off as like, are you gonna be even done with Christina Ricci by the time we get in?

[00:16:53] Like, yeah, right.

[00:16:55] And then we went.

[00:16:57] So once we finally got parked, I went directly for Troy Baker, because he was my one and only rightfully so rightfully so that I wanted to be there for.

[00:17:06] And Troy was running late because of said traffic outside on.

[00:17:11] That's so funny.

[00:17:12] Big Roa and whatnot, and an Olympic.

[00:17:15] So.

[00:17:17] He, you know, by the time we were even got moving.

[00:17:21] The who finished off Christina Ricci and Amy Jo.

[00:17:26] Yeah, that's right.

[00:17:28] And then you went and stood in one other line over there too.

[00:17:32] Right.

[00:17:32] Me not when right.

[00:17:34] Yep.

[00:17:35] Um, you finished me not when before we finished.

[00:17:39] Yeah, you did.

[00:17:40] Troy Baker.

[00:17:42] Because we were.

[00:17:43] You guys, you guys, you guys finished just short after I did it because I was on my way.

[00:17:47] Yeah.

[00:17:48] Yeah.

[00:17:49] Yep.

[00:17:50] Um, so Troy Baker, I was, I will say that he was, it was great talking to him.

[00:17:57] Like he was super nice.

[00:18:00] Um, you know, we were, we were sharing, um, very personable with him.

[00:18:05] Like, like, oh, it was, he was, he was really cool spending a few, a few minutes with everybody.

[00:18:10] I kind of felt like he was, he kind of spoke to us for about 10 minutes.

[00:18:14] Like we kind of got into a con.

[00:18:15] Like we kind of got into a con.

[00:18:16] We kind of got into a con with him and then.

[00:18:18] Yeah.

[00:18:18] We kind of like, oh, like the line was kind of getting backed up.

[00:18:23] So it was kind of funny, but, uh, yeah, he started talking to us.

[00:18:26] Yeah.

[00:18:27] Those eyes behind you going like, hurry it up.

[00:18:30] Yes.

[00:18:30] Yeah.

[00:18:32] You guys, you guys are being hypocritical and be like, oh, those guys.

[00:18:35] I know.

[00:18:36] I know.

[00:18:36] I know.

[00:18:38] Okay.

[00:18:39] One item, sir.

[00:18:40] It's not even the matter of number of items is just talking, taking forever.

[00:18:44] Yeah.

[00:18:45] But, uh, we, we can't, we can't handle our riz baby.

[00:18:48] Uh, we got too much riz.

[00:18:49] You know, that happens.

[00:18:50] You know, I told him what uncharted means to me, what it meant to my life and everything

[00:18:54] like that.

[00:18:55] And, you know, shared with him that Nolan signed my art book last year at fan expo.

[00:19:02] And I was like, he's like, okay, what did he sign?

[00:19:04] I was like sick part of his magnet.

[00:19:07] He's like, okay, are we doing that one?

[00:19:09] Or do you want this other?

[00:19:11] And he did it.

[00:19:11] I don't remember the, the Latin quote from a charter four that he gave.

[00:19:15] Um, but I was like, what's your reference?

[00:19:19] Yeah.

[00:19:20] That was supposed to be there in time.

[00:19:22] It came in.

[00:19:23] Go over there.

[00:19:24] But it delivered.

[00:19:25] It delivered the morning of, we were standing in line for autographs.

[00:19:30] And while you guys were with Troy.

[00:19:35] Yeah.

[00:19:36] But, uh, anyway, so he's like, no, no, I want to do say purpose.

[00:19:41] Magnum was like, okay.

[00:19:42] He's like, because, you know, he's like, screw that guy.

[00:19:47] I taught him the line.

[00:19:49] So I'm going to, so I'm going to do it.

[00:19:51] And sure enough, you know, he ended up and I, I compared this and I sent you guys a picture, but he signed it exactly where I've gotten the Lenore's autograph.

[00:20:05] We'd say, yeah.

[00:20:07] And especially with it and playful and everything, you still figure not many people are going to say screw Nolan North.

[00:20:15] Not unless they're good friends.

[00:20:17] So, yeah.

[00:20:18] Um, and then autographed by steel, you moved on to, so we had, uh, Erica.

[00:20:27] Yep.

[00:20:27] Linda.

[00:20:28] Um, who some of us know her as Jesse in the final fantasy seven remake project, but also very, very nice.

[00:20:37] You went there for, um, another reason for demons.

[00:20:42] Demon Slayer.

[00:20:44] Uh, Ducky in the entertainment arc.

[00:20:47] Yep.

[00:20:48] So with that, that was, uh, you've seen the entertainment arc, right?

[00:20:51] Uh, I'm on it right now.

[00:20:52] I'm on it.

[00:20:53] Yeah.

[00:20:53] Okay.

[00:20:53] Oh, cool.

[00:20:54] That's why I left off.

[00:20:56] Okay.

[00:20:58] Um, and then after that, who you moved on to somebody else?

[00:21:03] Cause I went to the panels.

[00:21:05] Yeah.

[00:21:06] Right after that.

[00:21:07] Right.

[00:21:07] I went over to the.

[00:21:10] Go ahead.

[00:21:10] Yeah.

[00:21:10] Uh, right after Erica, Jerry and I went over to, um, Todd Haberkorn.

[00:21:18] Yeah.

[00:21:19] And we, uh, he ended up needing the bathroom break, uh, right.

[00:21:23] As soon as we got to the table.

[00:21:24] Oh yeah.

[00:21:25] But, uh, but we ended up having a fantastic conversation with his wife, uh, just shooting the shit and, and like talking about cons and their favorite things and what they experience.

[00:21:36] And, and, and it was really just a great conversation.

[00:21:39] And I mean, talking about your, uh, Jerry's meta glasses.

[00:21:44] Yeah.

[00:21:45] Transitions.

[00:21:45] It's just a true nerd out conversation, which was really awesome.

[00:21:50] So we enjoyed that.

[00:21:52] And hopefully we'll have them on the show too.

[00:21:54] Yeah.

[00:21:55] Hopefully.

[00:21:56] Yeah.

[00:21:56] Uh, that was Johnny young Bosch, uh, for, I got him for bleach.

[00:22:03] That was super cool.

[00:22:05] Demon slayer power ranger.

[00:22:08] Yeah.

[00:22:08] Yeah.

[00:22:10] Nero.

[00:22:10] So Theo was the one showing up with multiple, uh, multiple items to be signed.

[00:22:14] I only had three, three.

[00:22:17] And they weren't even full items.

[00:22:19] They were just the sleeves.

[00:22:21] Yeah.

[00:22:21] Yes.

[00:22:21] There were just, which still, by the way, uh, still makes it so much easier.

[00:22:25] Commend you by the, uh, the method.

[00:22:26] The method is just so clever.

[00:22:29] Yeah.

[00:22:30] Um, um, yeah, I think the only two ones that I did multiples of was Christina and Josh.

[00:22:38] Oh, cool.

[00:22:39] Which were all are awesome.

[00:22:41] Cause the Wednesday ones and the cat, like the Casper were sweet.

[00:22:44] Those are cool.

[00:22:46] Yep.

[00:22:48] And then, um, I went to a podcasting panel by, um, that was hosted by a gentleman named,

[00:22:58] um, Joe Slutsky.

[00:22:59] He actually hosts the, uh, Joe on Joe podcast, which is a podcast, uh, dedicated to GI Joe.

[00:23:07] Um, yeah, the guy's super great.

[00:23:10] Um, I started listening to, uh, one of the more recent episodes, just kind of,

[00:23:16] kind of get, see how it is and stuff like that.

[00:23:18] And he's, he's knowledgeable.

[00:23:20] Like he knows his stuff.

[00:23:23] Um, and you had, um, Elise Williams, who is a host of 30 morbid minutes.

[00:23:29] Um, who she used to actually be at rooster teeth before rooster teeth folded.

[00:23:35] Um, and I have to give props.

[00:23:38] I want to say props to Warner brothers who rooster teeth was under Warner brothers discovery.

[00:23:42] When they closed up shop, they gave everybody the rights to their shows.

[00:23:51] Oh, cool.

[00:23:52] That's awesome.

[00:23:52] So everybody could just keep doing their shows and, and whatnot.

[00:23:57] Um, then you had, um, Ray Casillo, who, uh, is part of the podcast geeks who like sports.

[00:24:06] Um, John Carl, who hosts, uh, Scott, uh, Cyclops is waiting for me, which is an X-Men podcast.

[00:24:12] Ooh.

[00:24:13] Um, so I've got that teed up to start listening to that.

[00:24:16] They've gone through all of original X-Men X-Men X-97.

[00:24:20] They're on X-Men evolution now.

[00:24:22] Ooh, talking through all those shows.

[00:24:25] Great show.

[00:24:26] Great show.

[00:24:26] You know, um, there's, uh, like talking about at least like her show, like this, the latest episode is did the curse of the nine kill history's greatest composer.

[00:24:39] So that's like the kind of things that they talk about is like, you know, urban myths, stuff like that.

[00:24:45] Um, and then, um, also I had Jonathan London, who is a host of geescape, which has pretty much been around as long, if not longer than Danny Pena.

[00:24:57] Yeah.

[00:24:57] With Gamer Tag Radio.

[00:25:00] Hmm.

[00:25:00] And then finally it was rounded out by Andrea Renee, who hosts what's good games.

[00:25:05] We've talked about her in the past.

[00:25:06] Um, it, they finally sunset that show because they just decided to go be moms and go do life.

[00:25:14] Um, however, she did remember me.

[00:25:17] Um, she did not bring up the, uh, rope diving incident, but she said, she remembered me.

[00:25:23] Um, we talked for a good 10, 15 minutes after the, uh, I feel like that needs to be a question.

[00:25:30] If we ever, ever on the show is her, her, her score for you on, on sticking the dismount of going through the lines.

[00:25:41] Oh, I was, I was just hoping like she would have mentioned like, Oh, the rope guy.

[00:25:46] The rope guy.

[00:25:48] I remember.

[00:25:49] So get some context.

[00:25:50] I would have, like that would have, that would have solidified the joke.

[00:25:53] Like I would have just, dude, you gotta tell that story forever.

[00:25:56] Oh, the rope guy.

[00:25:58] Like, Oh yeah.

[00:25:59] That would be awesome.

[00:26:00] I will.

[00:26:00] So we were talking about this, right?

[00:26:02] And that, you know, kind of refresh everyone's memory.

[00:26:04] Like E3 2019.

[00:26:06] Um, this is when, you know, South hall was empty at that point.

[00:26:09] Right.

[00:26:10] Like half, half the floor was empty, like literally empty.

[00:26:13] The line that we were in, we chose because it was so short and we're like, Oh, let's, let's go check out.

[00:26:18] Like a star Wars, you know, exactly.

[00:26:20] We're a socket.

[00:26:21] Yeah.

[00:26:21] And they had the rope, like everything set up.

[00:26:24] So it wasn't, you had to be entered and you literally.

[00:26:26] We had to see exact.

[00:26:28] They didn't even edit the line.

[00:26:30] They were just that they had nothing going on that.

[00:26:33] They were like, no, just go through the light.

[00:26:35] We're, we're sitting there.

[00:26:36] And I've been a huge fan of Andrea's, uh, since they started what's good games.

[00:26:41] Um, you know, which was a podcast that originally they started out as it was, um, an all woman show.

[00:26:48] That was geared towards bringing more women into gaming.

[00:26:51] Right.

[00:26:51] And the talk stuff like that.

[00:26:53] Um, she was saying by the end of the thing, so their demographic was still like 80, 20 men to women, you know, in terms of split.

[00:27:00] But, um, so here she is, she's walking by.

[00:27:03] She had, you know, she had surgery not too long before that.

[00:27:06] And she was still using a walker and stuff.

[00:27:08] And I saw her and I wanted to meet her.

[00:27:09] And I literally, instead of zipping back and forth and try and maybe losing that moment, I dove under the ropes.

[00:27:18] I just, which, which in theory, like it does sound crazy, but it really is the more light.

[00:27:24] I feel like the more smart play, like, why would you, why would you go zigzagging through the, through the line?

[00:27:31] Like, but, uh, but it was, it was a great podcasting panel.

[00:27:35] I learned some, uh, learned some stuff from it.

[00:27:38] Very cool.

[00:27:39] And, um, you know, heard some really funny stories and whatnot.

[00:27:43] Did you get to speak to?

[00:27:45] Oh yeah.

[00:27:46] Andrea and I spent a good 10, 15 minutes after the panel.

[00:27:50] That's why I was ignoring you guys.

[00:27:52] Like you guys were trying to call me.

[00:27:53] Nope.

[00:27:54] Nope.

[00:27:56] Sorry.

[00:27:58] So, um, hopefully when she gets the itch, we can have Andrea on.

[00:28:03] Um, you know, it was great.

[00:28:05] Um, but yeah.

[00:28:07] Um, and then after that, we kind of walked the show full, actually walked, you know, South

[00:28:15] Hall and went to artist alley, which there were some amazing artists there.

[00:28:19] A lot of good stuff.

[00:28:20] Am I the only one that actually walked away with actual like pieces of art?

[00:28:25] Yes.

[00:28:25] I only walked away with, I only walked away with pins.

[00:28:28] Uh, yeah, I didn't get anything.

[00:28:30] So yeah.

[00:28:32] So we met, um, one of the artists there was, uh, her name's Agnes Garbosca.

[00:28:36] Um, she has been part of and working on, um, Care Bears, My Little Pony, Gem and the Holograms, DC Superhero Girls.

[00:28:44] She worked with Marvel on the Spider-Ham 20th and 25th anniversary edition.

[00:28:51] Well, she's also worked on cover art for GI Joe, Transformers, Dexter's Laboratory, Powerpuff Girls.

[00:28:58] Wow.

[00:28:59] So I ended up buying a couple of pieces.

[00:29:01] Oh yeah.

[00:29:02] Yeah.

[00:29:04] Um, that was a, that was a good fight.

[00:29:06] Which.

[00:29:06] And the, the glimmer paper is super cool.

[00:29:09] Which you can totally see the whole, you know,

[00:29:14] Powerpuff Girls and Dexter's Laboratory and, and all of that in her artwork.

[00:29:18] But it is amazing artwork that, um, you know, that hopefully I may actually buy more if she's got an online shop of hers.

[00:29:28] Cause I like her work.

[00:29:29] Um, some of the other stuff I've seen.

[00:29:31] Um, if not next time we're at a con, I'm going to hit her up and buy some more pieces.

[00:29:35] Um, cause it was a bad either.

[00:29:37] Two for 30.

[00:29:38] She and I talked about, talked about this cause we, we walked by that one that had all the water Pokemon.

[00:29:44] That was super cute.

[00:29:45] Yes.

[00:29:46] But she didn't have fire.

[00:29:48] So there's another artist that I caught in Colorado Springs.

[00:29:51] It's too bad she didn't get to make it to, uh, Los Angeles, but she has a really good one.

[00:29:56] She's called Reboops.

[00:29:57] And here's, here's water and fire for you.

[00:30:01] That looks a lot like the one that we were, that we saw there.

[00:30:04] Yeah.

[00:30:05] Yeah.

[00:30:05] Oh, I like those.

[00:30:08] I like it.

[00:30:09] Yeah.

[00:30:10] Of course I have to have all three starters colors.

[00:30:12] So I gotta have the green too.

[00:30:15] That's cool.

[00:30:17] Nerd.

[00:30:19] Anyways.

[00:30:21] Um, so overall, I mean, with everything we saw, everything we did, um, how do we feel about LA Comic-Con?

[00:30:31] Do we do it again?

[00:30:34] Hell yeah.

[00:30:35] Oh, I'm totally down to do it again.

[00:30:37] Um, I like, I think if it, if it falls under like a schedule that we could do totally, um, you know, I, like, I also wouldn't be like, uh, uh, sand if we missed out, but, uh, it was super fun.

[00:30:51] And, uh, yeah.

[00:30:53] Yeah.

[00:30:53] And like I said to you guys before, it kind of got me into like, maybe looking into the autograph scene and, you know, maybe dusting off a few old collectibles or some art books that I have and maybe like personalize them a little bit.

[00:31:06] And that would be super cool.

[00:31:07] Cause I like your, I like your idea, Matt of, uh, getting both the art books signed the way they were.

[00:31:12] Like it kind of gives me some ideas and I like it, but I think, I think I'm going to be super selective of what I do.

[00:31:19] It's, it's not going to be very much, but, uh, uh, I, I did really enjoy all the interactions cause it was super cool.

[00:31:25] And, and Michael J was like, I probably never would have gotten that chance.

[00:31:32] And, uh, no, and honestly, that was super cool to see him, dude.

[00:31:37] We may never have that chance again.

[00:31:39] Yeah.

[00:31:39] And like with Christopher Lloyd, you didn't see them and like to be like five steps away from Rosario Dawson and just to bask in that beauty and aura.

[00:31:49] Oh my God.

[00:31:49] I got to talk to her again.

[00:31:51] Oh yeah.

[00:31:51] Yeah.

[00:31:52] Yeah.

[00:31:52] Yeah.

[00:31:52] Cause, uh, I went to Michael J's line, but.

[00:31:56] You know, I wasn't supposed to apparently.

[00:31:59] I know.

[00:32:00] I heard.

[00:32:01] That was funny.

[00:32:03] The security.

[00:32:04] Yeah.

[00:32:04] He wasn't supposed to do that.

[00:32:07] Wasn't supposed to do that.

[00:32:08] I was, Hey, I kept my distance from her.

[00:32:10] It's not like I went right up to her face or anything.

[00:32:12] I mean, at least, at least the staff person was doing her job.

[00:32:15] She wasn't just like, okay, one, one guy do it.

[00:32:17] I can't let everybody be doing this.

[00:32:19] Yeah.

[00:32:19] Yeah.

[00:32:20] Yeah.

[00:32:20] Yeah.

[00:32:21] So Theo, as the, the one among us that has done fan expo has done LA comic con and, uh, has done San Diego comic con.

[00:32:31] Well, which is your Springs this year.

[00:32:32] I did.

[00:32:33] Okay.

[00:32:34] Okay.

[00:32:34] Colorado Springs.

[00:32:35] Okay.

[00:32:36] Let's, I mean, I guess it's a con.

[00:32:39] I, I, I still feel like it had a good turnout.

[00:32:41] Uh, it was Colorado Springs was definitely very small, but I feel, I feel like it still had a good turnout in stars wise since it had nine out of 10 of the big voices in the avatar.

[00:32:54] I still feel like it got some good stuff out there.

[00:32:56] So, so which do you prefer out of the four?

[00:33:00] Um, honestly, really due to the space available and how it was laid out.

[00:33:13] I would actually say I liked LA better.

[00:33:17] Really?

[00:33:18] Um, cause I mean, like I liked the amount of room we had to walk through, especially since the lanes were awesome.

[00:33:24] A, a larger, uh, comic con than fan expo Denver.

[00:33:28] I would say.

[00:33:29] Cause like, like when we walk through the, the booths and everything at fan expo, it was just like always these traffic, traffic stops and just squeezing.

[00:33:43] And then everything.

[00:33:43] I'll say that this year when they opened up more of the floor than they did last year, I thought it's still tight though.

[00:33:50] Yeah.

[00:33:51] Compared to San Diego, I would definitely say like, that was the most noticeable thing.

[00:33:55] Like when, especially when you mentioned it, I would say like, this is nice.

[00:33:59] Like, yeah, even San Diego is super tight and everything.

[00:34:04] But like, and, and like with Jerry's point, it's like, I really like these three a little bit more than, uh, SECC San Diego, because you get that interaction with the, the celebrities during the autographs.

[00:34:22] Whereas like, yeah, you have some autographs that you can do at San Diego.

[00:34:25] But I mean, like San Diego seems more on the like announcements and everything is like in those kinds of experiences, which is still fricking awesome.

[00:34:36] And we have so much fun, especially in all age, but I would say out of the four that I've done this year, my top one's going to be LA.

[00:34:44] Okay.

[00:34:45] Wow.

[00:34:48] So with that also over the weekend, while we were there, we, we actually had some Xbox.

[00:34:55] Xbox news break.

[00:34:57] Oh, I know we don't normally talk PlayStation.

[00:35:00] We normally don't talk, or we normally talk rather PlayStation Nintendo.

[00:35:04] We don't talk Xbox, but I'd be remiss if we didn't talk about this.

[00:35:08] Cause this is actually kind of huge for Xbox fans and more specifically for Halo fans.

[00:35:22] Oh yeah.

[00:35:23] Oh yeah.

[00:35:24] Yeah.

[00:35:24] That, that, that, yeah, I got you.

[00:35:25] I got you.

[00:35:26] This was awesome actually.

[00:35:27] Yeah.

[00:35:27] So, um, news broke that three, four, three studios is no more and is getting rebranded.

[00:35:39] As Halo studios.

[00:35:42] Um, they've got, they're going with a new name, new, like, as it says, new name, new engine, new games, new philosophy.

[00:35:47] So they've got multiple games that are in the pipe right now.

[00:35:52] Um, and I think the biggest thing outside of a name change from three, four, three to halo studios, which honestly, just because you're putting a new shiny coat of paint and a name on it doesn't necessarily mean the games are going to be great.

[00:36:08] So I think everybody need, did you look more into, I have, but here's the thing is though, it's still most of the same crew.

[00:36:15] Right.

[00:36:15] So let's look at everything from the, the, the top down with us.

[00:36:20] Right.

[00:36:20] So the big thing is they are changing over to unreal engine five.

[00:36:25] So they're getting rid of the slipstream engine, which is what caused all the problems with halo infinite in the first place.

[00:36:32] Which was also three, four threes in, in, in store engine in house.

[00:36:37] Correct.

[00:36:39] And that is something that we're saying they had to dedicate a new, a high amount of staff to upkeep of the engine, you know, make sure it's working with the tech stacks and everything like that.

[00:36:48] So they did show off video and everything like that.

[00:36:52] And we all know unreal engine five is ridiculously gorgeous for an engine.

[00:36:59] Um, so with that, they're, you know, they're hopefully going to have, um, some better output.

[00:37:06] You know, they're not going to have as much staff to dedicate to the engine because frankly, it's coming from unreal.

[00:37:14] You know, it's their engine.

[00:37:15] If there's something wrong with it, they'll, you know, just like anybody else that's got a third party agreement, but go to them and say, Hey, you need to fix this.

[00:37:24] And hopefully they can put more of that staffing into like, you know, better writers, you know, graphic, you know, all that.

[00:37:33] Yeah.

[00:37:34] What I didn't know is, um, so Chris Matthews, the studio art director, he was saying is like part of slip space is 25 years old.

[00:37:42] Think about that.

[00:37:43] Oh, wow.

[00:37:44] Like it goes back to halo one.

[00:37:49] That's pretty impressive.

[00:37:50] It held up that long.

[00:37:52] Yeah.

[00:37:53] You know, old last century.

[00:37:54] It was last century, man.

[00:37:56] Fuck off.

[00:37:58] I'm not that old.

[00:37:59] It's true.

[00:38:00] Last century.

[00:38:01] We're all that old.

[00:38:02] What are you talking about?

[00:38:02] 1999.

[00:38:03] No.

[00:38:04] Halo came out in 01.

[00:38:07] But still last century.

[00:38:08] Yeah.

[00:38:09] We're all that old.

[00:38:10] Last millennial.

[00:38:12] Last millennium.

[00:38:13] We're all that old.

[00:38:15] Um, right.

[00:38:18] When did halo.

[00:38:20] Thank you.

[00:38:20] Thank you.

[00:38:21] You're welcome.

[00:38:24] But even so, 1999.

[00:38:27] Yeah.

[00:38:27] I thought it was 99.

[00:38:28] No.

[00:38:29] Halo came out in 2001.

[00:38:30] And I remember this because I was going to, um, the first, first release.

[00:38:34] Halo combat evolved.

[00:38:36] It was November 15th, 2001.

[00:38:38] Yeah.

[00:38:38] Yep.

[00:38:39] It was.

[00:38:39] And I can remember that because I was going up to the university of Northern Colorado and

[00:38:43] it was right after, uh, nine 11th.

[00:38:47] Oh shit.

[00:38:48] It was six weeks after nine 11 that that game launched.

[00:38:53] So anyway, so honestly, yeah, it looks, it looks pretty.

[00:38:58] Don't get me wrong.

[00:39:00] That's just unreal, you know, but you know, it, you know, they showed up this thing called

[00:39:10] Boundary, which is, it's not really a, it's not a new game.

[00:39:15] It's not a tech demo.

[00:39:16] It's just kind of them kind of thrown in what they can have everything look like.

[00:39:22] And yeah, it's pretty.

[00:39:26] I think I have a little bit more with the company putting more resources in, uh, other groups,

[00:39:33] other, uh, other areas of the company.

[00:39:35] And, uh, hopefully they'll put their focus on, they'll refocus on story and adventure and,

[00:39:42] you know, some new, new actual, uh, uh, IPs.

[00:39:47] And, uh, you know, from there, then, then, then that's, they're really taking the gamble

[00:39:53] on themselves instead of, you know, resting on their loins.

[00:39:57] If they're coming out with another halo game, you know, I want to see some new stuff.

[00:40:00] Uh, let's see some new stuff with this new engine, like be creative.

[00:40:05] Like, I want you guys to succeed.

[00:40:07] I want to see some, I want to see stuff.

[00:40:09] I want to see new.

[00:40:09] I mean, the detail is great, but here's, here's my thing is like, they need the fans of halo

[00:40:25] deserve halo.

[00:40:28] They need to come up with either a, just reboot everything, bring us back to scratch, you know,

[00:40:35] at this point or, or B, they need to come up with something substantial that is part of

[00:40:40] the halo universe that expands it instead of just basically taking halo one and putting

[00:40:44] a shiny coat of paint on it and calling it halo infinite.

[00:40:48] Because at, at its, at its base, right?

[00:40:50] When you play through the story of halo infinite, it is pretty much halo one.

[00:40:58] Open world.

[00:41:00] Well, just open, more open world, but it's kind of the same type of mechanic or same type

[00:41:04] of story, right?

[00:41:06] It's kind of like, I didn't get to play it.

[00:41:08] Yeah.

[00:41:09] I hate to say it felt like force awakens and new hope.

[00:41:16] Interesting.

[00:41:17] Oh, like a cross between the two or kind of like, so think about this, right?

[00:41:21] A new comparison and force awakens in comparison, right?

[00:41:24] You look at both of those, right?

[00:41:26] It's still kind of the same story, still ends the same way where you got to go blow

[00:41:30] up the death star, which in this case, it was inside of a planet instead of a space station,

[00:41:35] right?

[00:41:35] It's the same type of thing.

[00:41:36] Like it's almost the same story, you know?

[00:41:39] It was almost a carbon copy.

[00:41:40] Almost.

[00:41:41] That's the way I felt, you know?

[00:41:43] And I know they've done a ton of work on halo infinite since it launched.

[00:41:47] And the multiplayer is pretty great now, but overall, I think for the longevity and success

[00:41:55] of Xbox to be able to go beyond Game Pass and actually have Jason say it.

[00:42:01] I have an exclusive.

[00:42:03] Finally, have exclusives to actually sell your damn console, which is not selling.

[00:42:08] You need halo.

[00:42:10] You absolutely need halo.

[00:42:13] Halo.

[00:42:13] It's like, honestly, halo and Xbox is like Mario and Nintendo.

[00:42:20] It is the, you know, when you think of Xbox.

[00:42:23] Well, it's the foundation of, it truly is the foundation of the company, regardless of

[00:42:26] when it came out or, you know, it set the map on so many things, including online shooters.

[00:42:33] It set the map for Xbox and Microsoft, you know, they have essentially a mascot and they're

[00:42:40] still using a character from the game in their physical world products.

[00:42:46] So, I mean, yeah, I totally agree.

[00:42:50] And I think that's a great idea.

[00:42:52] I say like reboot it, but back, you know, kind of back to my point, like, okay, but like

[00:42:59] once again, new, you know what?

[00:43:01] Try, do it.

[00:43:02] Like go for the reboot or bring out something new.

[00:43:05] Yeah.

[00:43:06] Agreed.

[00:43:07] Yeah.

[00:43:08] So I think more so is the fans deserve it.

[00:43:13] They deserve to have halo back just like they deserve to have a great gears of war.

[00:43:20] They deserve to have great forces, which right now great forces is pretty much all they're

[00:43:27] really doing right now.

[00:43:30] So I really hope for the sake of their fan base, they get halo back to where it should

[00:43:33] be.

[00:43:34] Yeah.

[00:43:34] I mean, so, so in essence, both of you are kind of saying like stop prioritizing, making

[00:43:41] it pretty prioritize, making it fun.

[00:43:45] I would say you can still make it pretty, but yeah, but it doesn't have to be pretty.

[00:43:49] No, but I think the biggest problem is that, you know, the story behind the games, the,

[00:43:55] the, you know, the, there's no imagination there.

[00:43:59] You know, they're just, it just seems like they're just shelling out game.

[00:44:02] Okay.

[00:44:02] That one looks great.

[00:44:03] Is it already done?

[00:44:04] Okay.

[00:44:04] Finish it and we'll send it out.

[00:44:06] You know, it, they're not bringing out the games that they used to.

[00:44:09] They have not had a great halo game since Bungie left.

[00:44:15] Easy.

[00:44:16] Straight up.

[00:44:17] I mean, they, they're, they're going to re redo themselves in a unreal engine.

[00:44:24] You know, they're, they're taking off all the rust off all the dust and cobwebs.

[00:44:29] That's what I'm hoping.

[00:44:30] All you gotta do.

[00:44:31] All you gotta do.

[00:44:32] All you gotta do.

[00:44:33] Was it halo studios now?

[00:44:36] Yes.

[00:44:36] Halo studios.

[00:44:37] All you gotta do.

[00:44:38] Halo remake.

[00:44:39] That's it.

[00:44:40] Halo remake.

[00:44:41] That's it.

[00:44:42] Go back.

[00:44:43] Go back to where it all began.

[00:44:45] It's, it's the, now's the time to do it because everybody else is doing it.

[00:44:49] So it's, yes, you are jumping on that bandwagon, but at the same time.

[00:44:53] Do we think necessarily remake or something?

[00:44:56] I think reboot.

[00:44:58] Cause I mean, cause I mean, I feel like when we talked about final fantasy seven remake,

[00:45:03] there were certain things that we didn't really like about.

[00:45:06] Yeah, of course.

[00:45:07] With the remake.

[00:45:08] Cause I mean, mechanics being changed and, and, and.

[00:45:11] Okay.

[00:45:11] But no game is ever going to be like 100% perfect for everybody.

[00:45:16] No game is.

[00:45:16] I will never still, I still, to this day will not actively buy unless it's on a retard, like

[00:45:22] ridiculous, uh, sale.

[00:45:25] Any shooter.

[00:45:25] I've only bought one shooter in the last decade.

[00:45:29] And that's division two only because it was one of my co-workers playing it.

[00:45:35] Matt and Matt and Jerry stopped playing it.

[00:45:38] You know, uh, what else?

[00:45:40] It was on sale.

[00:45:41] I feel like you just gave the reason that you got it was because they stopped playing.

[00:45:45] That hurt.

[00:45:46] That, that, that, that was what you said.

[00:45:48] Sorry.

[00:45:48] That was a shot.

[00:45:49] I know.

[00:45:50] That was a shot.

[00:45:50] Uh, but like it was $10 for both the, the division two and the DLC.

[00:45:56] So I was like, yo, like, all right.

[00:45:58] Oh yeah.

[00:45:58] Sure.

[00:45:59] Like that's the only time I've ever bought in a shooter.

[00:46:02] Does my library have any other shooter?

[00:46:04] Nope.

[00:46:05] The only closest one is Dirge of Cerberus and that was PS2.

[00:46:09] I mean, could you call that a shooter?

[00:46:12] Yeah.

[00:46:14] Sure.

[00:46:15] Maybe.

[00:46:16] Maybe.

[00:46:16] That's like kind of a devil may cry.

[00:46:18] I don't really think that's, that's an action adventure.

[00:46:20] Exactly.

[00:46:20] And like, I, like even dark side is the top down with, with, uh, I still never gotten

[00:46:26] that.

[00:46:26] And I love the dark side of series.

[00:46:27] I just never got that one because it's too much of a shooter.

[00:46:31] I didn't like the top down either.

[00:46:32] Me neither.

[00:46:33] I don't like top down.

[00:46:34] I mean, like you could, we uncharted is not a shooter, even though there's tons of

[00:46:39] shooting.

[00:46:39] Yeah.

[00:46:40] Yeah.

[00:46:40] That's action.

[00:46:41] Action adventure.

[00:46:42] So third party.

[00:46:43] So I mean like for, for them to actually have like this game where it's just remake

[00:46:48] it, just remake it.

[00:46:49] Now is the time to do it and you won't get criticized as hard for it.

[00:46:53] You'll either be praised or you're going to shut down the company.

[00:46:56] That's it.

[00:46:58] Like you gotta, you gotta swing for the fences now.

[00:47:00] I mean, when's the last time any big Xbox news has come out?

[00:47:05] Aside from this weekend.

[00:47:08] True.

[00:47:09] Yeah.

[00:47:09] So you guys, good news.

[00:47:12] Yeah.

[00:47:12] Also true.

[00:47:13] Yeah.

[00:47:14] Go big or go home at this point.

[00:47:17] Just don't make a game based on the TV show.

[00:47:21] Oh God.

[00:47:21] Yeah.

[00:47:22] I mean, that's why.

[00:47:23] Halo.

[00:47:23] Halo.

[00:47:24] Halo.

[00:47:25] Halo.

[00:47:26] Halo.

[00:47:29] Redu.

[00:47:32] Halo.

[00:47:32] No, don't go that far because.

[00:47:34] You know.

[00:47:36] A little French spelling.

[00:47:39] X.

[00:47:39] Yeah.

[00:47:41] Because the Joker sequel is.

[00:47:43] Getting Halo.

[00:47:45] I don't know.

[00:47:46] Yeah.

[00:47:46] Yeah.

[00:47:46] So many.

[00:47:47] So many things.

[00:47:48] I was so sad about that.

[00:47:49] That was a bummer.

[00:47:50] So.

[00:47:51] That's all I need to do.

[00:47:52] Just.

[00:47:53] Okay.

[00:47:54] Remaster it.

[00:47:54] Not remaster.

[00:47:56] Like remake it.

[00:47:56] Like.

[00:47:57] Let's.

[00:47:58] Let's.

[00:47:58] Like.

[00:47:59] Bring them back.

[00:48:00] Oh gee.

[00:48:01] This is how the guys got on here.

[00:48:03] You know.

[00:48:03] Get a little backstory.

[00:48:05] I will still.

[00:48:06] I will still preface.

[00:48:08] That it is a lot harder than it sounds.

[00:48:10] When you just say.

[00:48:10] Just remake it.

[00:48:12] Nah.

[00:48:12] I don't think so man.

[00:48:13] I know we all think.

[00:48:14] I know.

[00:48:14] I would imagine we all think that.

[00:48:16] It's still really hard to do that.

[00:48:18] But.

[00:48:19] I mean.

[00:48:20] If you're remaking it.

[00:48:22] You're.

[00:48:22] You're overhauling it.

[00:48:23] It's not like.

[00:48:23] Just a remaster.

[00:48:24] Where you're just making things look prettier.

[00:48:26] For the exact same fucking game.

[00:48:28] Yeah.

[00:48:28] So.

[00:48:29] We did.

[00:48:30] You know.

[00:48:31] I will say this.

[00:48:32] We don't.

[00:48:32] You know.

[00:48:32] We didn't all get to play a ton.

[00:48:34] This weekend.

[00:48:35] I know we've been playing a little.

[00:48:36] Echoes and stuff.

[00:48:37] But.

[00:48:37] Real quick.

[00:48:38] I.

[00:48:39] Want to give an anime recommendation.

[00:48:42] Because of a show.

[00:48:43] That the boys turned me on to.

[00:48:44] Nice.

[00:48:46] That I'm going to finish.

[00:48:48] Nice.

[00:48:50] That's why I called you to find out.

[00:48:52] Exactly where we were.

[00:48:53] Jerry.

[00:48:54] Oh sick.

[00:48:54] The file.

[00:48:55] Yeah.

[00:48:55] Yeah.

[00:48:56] Solo leveling.

[00:48:57] Yeah.

[00:48:59] Is fantastic.

[00:49:00] And I recommend it.

[00:49:04] Wholeheartedly.

[00:49:05] Agreed.

[00:49:06] And we all know.

[00:49:06] I am the least anime person.

[00:49:08] On this podcast.

[00:49:10] Yes.

[00:49:10] Yeah.

[00:49:11] Yeah.

[00:49:12] The fact that you were like.

[00:49:13] Dude I like it.

[00:49:14] Like oh sweet dude.

[00:49:15] Yeah.

[00:49:15] Next episode please.

[00:49:16] Yeah.

[00:49:17] Next.

[00:49:18] And season two is coming soon.

[00:49:20] I guess right.

[00:49:21] Yeah.

[00:49:22] I love the concept.

[00:49:23] I really do.

[00:49:24] Yeah.

[00:49:24] It was definitely one that I fell in love with too.

[00:49:27] This past year.

[00:49:28] In comic.

[00:49:29] At comic con.

[00:49:29] And.

[00:49:30] I have rewatched since then.

[00:49:32] And awesome dude.

[00:49:33] I'm so glad you liked it.

[00:49:35] Yep.

[00:49:36] Enough for me.

[00:49:37] I signed up for the trial for Crunchyroll.

[00:49:39] Just so I could go finish watching it.

[00:49:41] Sweet.

[00:49:41] Nice.

[00:49:44] However you will not catch me going with.

[00:49:48] One Piece.

[00:49:49] I will stay away from that.

[00:49:50] With a hundred mile.

[00:49:51] I do recommend the live action on Netflix though.

[00:49:54] I do recommend that.

[00:49:56] It's true that they're making an abridged version.

[00:49:59] So it's going to be out next year.

[00:50:01] So I mean.

[00:50:01] What?

[00:50:01] It's only going to be 500 episodes?

[00:50:03] I don't know.

[00:50:04] I've actually heard rumor that it's less than 300.

[00:50:07] Wow.

[00:50:08] Wow.

[00:50:09] Nice.

[00:50:09] Okay.

[00:50:10] I might do that.

[00:50:11] Am I trying to?

[00:50:11] Like yes.

[00:50:12] I think it's like.

[00:50:13] When it first started.

[00:50:14] And like you know.

[00:50:16] Like back in 1950.

[00:50:19] You know.

[00:50:20] I gave you way too much.

[00:50:22] I thought you hit like.

[00:50:23] I thought you hit like 300.

[00:50:25] Oh no dude.

[00:50:26] I mean like.

[00:50:26] Like 44.

[00:50:27] I get it.

[00:50:28] There's a ton of stories.

[00:50:29] There's more stories.

[00:50:31] Yeah.

[00:50:31] That's a good day.

[00:50:31] Than like.

[00:50:32] Like.

[00:50:33] It's just ridiculous.

[00:50:34] A ridiculous amount of story.

[00:50:36] Like each character.

[00:50:37] And I.

[00:50:37] Like I said.

[00:50:38] I haven't even finished collecting all the people on the boat.

[00:50:40] Like.

[00:50:41] I got like.

[00:50:42] Maybe four or five people in.

[00:50:44] And like.

[00:50:44] Each.

[00:50:45] Of their story arcs.

[00:50:46] They get to those pretty quick too.

[00:50:48] And.

[00:50:49] Quick.

[00:50:50] Quick.

[00:50:51] Each story arc is like 10 episodes.

[00:50:53] And I'm like.

[00:50:53] Jesus Christ.

[00:50:54] This guy.

[00:50:54] I don't need to know this much about this guy.

[00:50:56] Like a good 200 gap.

[00:50:59] Until you get to the next.

[00:51:00] Addition to this boat.

[00:51:02] That's so funny.

[00:51:03] And like.

[00:51:04] I mean like.

[00:51:05] I got.

[00:51:05] I got.

[00:51:05] I had.

[00:51:06] I had.

[00:51:07] The last one was Sanji.

[00:51:08] You know.

[00:51:09] And like.

[00:51:10] Nami quit the boat.

[00:51:11] And then she got back on the boat.

[00:51:12] And then she quit the boat again.

[00:51:13] And I'm like.

[00:51:14] Now she's with the shark people.

[00:51:16] Like.

[00:51:16] You learn the whole backstory.

[00:51:18] The fishman.

[00:51:19] Yeah.

[00:51:19] That's where I stopped.

[00:51:20] I got there.

[00:51:21] I was like.

[00:51:21] Yo.

[00:51:21] I'm done man.

[00:51:22] I'm done.

[00:51:23] I'm done.

[00:51:43] I'm like.

[00:51:43] Robin.

[00:51:45] Robin.

[00:51:46] Brooke.

[00:51:47] Yeah.

[00:51:47] Look at that.

[00:51:48] You got a lot man.

[00:51:49] You got a lot.

[00:51:49] Yeah.

[00:51:50] So I mean like.

[00:51:52] Yeah.

[00:51:52] I feel on that Matt.

[00:51:53] On the one's piece.

[00:51:54] The one piece.

[00:51:57] That triggered something a little bit.

[00:51:58] Oh my god.

[00:52:00] I got heart triggered.

[00:52:01] Oh my god.

[00:52:03] I don't know the raw.

[00:52:05] Oh and I started.

[00:52:07] Since Matt's.

[00:52:09] Potentially more open to recommendations.

[00:52:11] And see if.

[00:52:12] I know.

[00:52:13] Jerry loved this one.

[00:52:15] Jason.

[00:52:15] Have you seen.

[00:52:16] Rising the Shield Hero.

[00:52:18] I'm 50-50.

[00:52:19] I'm like.

[00:52:19] I kind of feel like I would like it.

[00:52:21] But I feel like.

[00:52:22] If I don't like it.

[00:52:23] I'm going to be pissed.

[00:52:24] The first season was awesome.

[00:52:25] I'm starting the second season.

[00:52:27] No.

[00:52:28] It's.

[00:52:28] It's a toss up right now.

[00:52:30] It's.

[00:52:31] It was cool.

[00:52:32] But.

[00:52:33] I like it for.

[00:52:34] Such a different run.

[00:52:36] On an Isekai story.

[00:52:38] I know you're way over Isekai right now.

[00:52:40] I'm over Isekai right now.

[00:52:41] But it's such a.

[00:52:43] Such a different Isekai story.

[00:52:45] Than normal that we're used to.

[00:52:46] I think.

[00:52:46] I would highly recommend.

[00:52:48] All right.

[00:52:48] All right.

[00:52:49] So.

[00:52:50] With that though.

[00:52:51] I want to thank everybody.

[00:53:08] Especially with another hurricane.

[00:53:10] Getting ready to hit the.

[00:53:12] The southeast part of the country.

[00:53:18] Once again.

[00:53:19] We want to spread that same message.

[00:53:21] Also.

[00:53:22] We didn't mention.

[00:53:23] Had a great time.

[00:53:23] With Will.

[00:53:24] At dinner.

[00:53:25] During this weekend.

[00:53:27] If you're listening.

[00:53:41] You know.

[00:53:42] Whoever.

[00:53:42] Is in need.

[00:53:43] Or if you feel that.

[00:53:45] Just needs to be listened to.

[00:53:46] Or needs a.

[00:53:48] Needs a hug.

[00:53:49] Needs a helping hand.

[00:53:50] Let's just try to.

[00:53:51] To help out.

[00:53:52] And.

[00:53:53] Be.

[00:53:54] Better than we are right now.

[00:53:56] Because.

[00:53:56] You know.

[00:53:57] Once again.

[00:53:58] It's still getting crazy out there.

[00:54:00] The election's getting closer and closer.

[00:54:02] And everyone's opinions.

[00:54:03] Are getting more and more important.

[00:54:04] To themselves.

[00:54:05] To where we need to.

[00:54:06] You know.

[00:54:07] Practice a little patience.

[00:54:09] And just be a little kinder.

[00:54:11] So let's just be.

[00:54:12] Safe out there.

[00:54:13] I felt just a little disdain in that.

[00:54:16] With the whole.

[00:54:17] People's opinions is getting more important for themselves.

[00:54:19] Well.

[00:54:20] You know.

[00:54:21] It's not to be.

[00:54:22] It's not disdain.

[00:54:23] It's to show that.

[00:54:24] You know.

[00:54:24] You know.

[00:54:25] Everybody's opinions matter.

[00:54:27] You know.

[00:54:27] Sometimes.

[00:54:28] You know.

[00:54:28] Sometimes when.

[00:54:29] We see these.

[00:54:31] Things erupt.

[00:54:32] You know.

[00:54:32] People feel that their opinions are more important.

[00:54:35] Everyone's is as important.

[00:54:43] To you baby.

[00:54:46] All right guys.

[00:54:47] Well yeah.

[00:54:47] I mean.

[00:54:48] Jerry already hit on what I was going to say.

[00:54:50] But that's okay.

[00:54:50] Because that's something else I want to say.

[00:54:52] Definitely.

[00:54:53] Over the weekend.

[00:54:55] It was a big.

[00:54:57] Big.

[00:54:59] Milestone in.

[00:55:00] Classic gaming history.

[00:55:02] For all of you that don't know.

[00:55:04] Me and Matt.

[00:55:04] We are Tetris freaks.

[00:55:06] We are fanatics.

[00:55:07] We aren't that.

[00:55:07] Like.

[00:55:08] You know.

[00:55:08] We are okay.

[00:55:09] We are not the greatest in the world.

[00:55:11] You know.

[00:55:11] We don't have a championship under our belts.

[00:55:13] But huge fans.

[00:55:14] But huge fans.

[00:55:15] And so over the weekend.

[00:55:17] Honestly.

[00:55:18] Want to take this time.

[00:55:19] To send a shout out.

[00:55:20] To Dog Playing Tetris.

[00:55:23] Literally.

[00:55:24] The.

[00:55:24] First person.

[00:55:25] To.

[00:55:27] Actually get the rebirth level.

[00:55:30] We've had Blue Scooty.

[00:55:32] Had.

[00:55:32] First crash.

[00:55:33] You know.

[00:55:34] But.

[00:55:35] This is the first.

[00:55:36] Where.

[00:55:36] It is actually.

[00:55:38] A rebirth.

[00:55:39] And if.

[00:55:40] For those of you that don't know.

[00:55:41] Just a quick recap.

[00:55:42] It's literally going through.

[00:55:44] Level.

[00:55:45] Zero.

[00:55:46] All the way.

[00:55:47] And breaking the game.

[00:55:48] To reset.

[00:55:49] To zero.

[00:55:50] Zero.

[00:55:50] So that's.

[00:55:52] 256 levels.

[00:55:53] And.

[00:55:54] Jesus.

[00:55:55] Granted.

[00:55:55] There's a lot of other stuff.

[00:55:57] That you know.

[00:55:57] That's more in depth.

[00:55:58] But.

[00:55:59] To make it to rebirth.

[00:56:00] You know.

[00:56:00] It is.

[00:56:02] Uncanny.

[00:56:03] It definitely requires.

[00:56:04] A.

[00:56:05] Shout out.

[00:56:06] To him.

[00:56:07] So I mean.

[00:56:07] Congratulations to him.

[00:56:08] That's super cool man.

[00:56:09] A literal.

[00:56:10] An hour.

[00:56:11] And 20 minutes.

[00:56:12] Of playing Tetris.

[00:56:13] Continuous.

[00:56:14] So I mean.

[00:56:15] It's a.

[00:56:16] It's a.

[00:56:16] It's a full movie.

[00:56:17] It's a full movie.

[00:56:18] Right there.

[00:56:18] But it is going to be.

[00:56:20] It's one.

[00:56:21] Record.

[00:56:22] One.

[00:56:23] Historic moment.

[00:56:23] That definitely requires.

[00:56:26] A little bit of.

[00:56:26] Attention.

[00:56:27] You know.

[00:56:27] Like.

[00:56:28] So definitely.

[00:56:28] Shout out to him.

[00:56:30] For doing that.

[00:56:31] For being the first person.

[00:56:32] To make rebirth.

[00:56:34] So yeah.

[00:56:35] So.

[00:56:36] Speaking of rebirth.

[00:56:48] My man Theo.

[00:56:51] The champ.

[00:56:52] The monopoly champion.

[00:56:55] Show off that ring.

[00:56:56] And send us off.

[00:56:56] Like you do.
