[00:00:07] And with that ladies and gentlemen, welcome to another episode of Crashing Game Night. This is episode 317. Like it does not feel like it's been like already 17 episodes since we did, you know, episode 300, you know, so, you know, my name is Matt DiOrio, your host, as always. We are sans the babyface one, because he's at work. And to that, sir, if you're listening,
[00:00:38] catching this, I say, damn the man, save the empire. If you know the reference, you're all the cooler. Unfortunately, it's not Rex Manning Day as I'm saying it, but you know. Second reference. That's for you guys. Who glued the quarters to the floor? I love it. I love it. I can sit there and quote them. I love that. I love that. Yeah. Anyways, we've got the beanied one, Gerard Barrera.
[00:01:06] How's it going, everybody? All you nerds out there. Thank you for joining. Just another day, another dollar. You know, how you guys doing? Hope you're all doing well. And hope we're... We'll get to that in a minute on how we're doing it. All right. And ladies and gentlemen, the man with the couch, the maitre d' of services, the man, the myth, the legend, the lion's mane, Jason Bolidio. How's it going, guys? How's it going tonight?
[00:01:39] How's it going? Yeah.
[00:02:09] So, we all know I've rediscovered my love of Star Wars as of late. And that combined with me liking Legos. And yeah, it started off with the 10 of four, which, you know, got that for Christmas. This past weekend, I added two more to the collection. It's so funny. We have... This guy. Home one. Nice.
[00:02:39] And all his glory. And what's funny is when you build this thing on the inside of it is actually like a landing bay with an A-wing in it with like a force field up. That's why I've been kind of enjoying those scale because they have a lot more kind of Easter eggs in the build, right? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I really enjoy that little stuff. Straight up.
[00:03:03] Because like even in the Disney stuff, like the Aladdin, I think there was another, I think there was a Beauty and the Beast one. Like Lego's good about those scales where like they make it fun and they make all those little Easter eggs or hidden things in it. And they made it so it's just one solid piece, you know, that can come off to show everything on the inside. That's super cool. Yeah. I just wish they didn't do it as pink bricks, you know, right here that, you know, it was a different color.
[00:03:35] So at some point I may decide to raid the random Legos in the collection and just go... Oh, see if you have some? Have some like your best ones? Well, no, swap out the bricks. Yeah. And brick them. Why not just break it? Eh. Because we've got other Legos I can go raid. But then I also got the Invisible Hand. Now that's Grievous' ship, right? This is Grievous' ship from the opening from episode three. Three. That's right.
[00:04:03] Which is coming back to theaters the end of April and I will be taking the kids to see their first Star Wars movie on the big screen when that happens. Nice. I was also about to say kudos to Matt because he got his boys started on Rebels, which I also think is the best way to start them and to eventually get them to the movies, which I think Rebels is the best way to start. So, it didn't start with Rebels though. Oh, it didn't? It started with Lego Star Wars.
[00:04:32] Oh! First it was a little animated shorts. But like the actual TV or media, Rebels I think was the best choice to start with. Well, yeah. I mean, we've done Rebels. We're doing Clone Wars right now. I'm on... Nice. Halfway through season three on that one. Um, and we've already watched through Empire Strikes Back. Oh, nice, man. Yeah. So. Good nerd education. I love it.
[00:05:01] So, you're getting into Star Wars. What... Which way are you doing it? Are you doing it chronological? Doing it chronological based on release? Are you doing it the way we're like with the kids? Nope. I'm doing it straight up chronologically. Oh, okay. Cool. Like, we're going back like... You gotta go one, two, three. One, two, three. One, two, three. Four, five, six, I have it. Two, three. You know, I've just been doing the numbered ones. I haven't introduced Solo or Rogue One into it yet. Okay. I'm trying to see how...
[00:05:30] Are you adding the side cannons which are in between? Like the TV shows? Yeah, the in-betweens. I'm trying to get them to do Ahsoka with me. Okay. I haven't seen two inches into that one yet, but that's okay. And I do want them to do The Mandalorian because they do... I don't know who Grogu is. Uh-huh. So it would be nice to introduce them to that. Obi-Wan?
[00:05:59] That'd be a good one for them to watch as well. I just did a rewatch, by the way. It's like... It is good. It's still, for me, a solid series. It wasn't like overly ambitious or... But, you know, it was... I think it was just solid. I... I probably won't. I went to Acolyte, though, with them for a while because I think it's a little... It's slow. Like, it wasn't even... That's a lot of lore. That's a lot of lore that you have to go through, you know? It is. I'm just saying. It's like going through Marvel, you know?
[00:06:28] It's like... You gotta go... You gotta give your whole child's, like, life time. Except... You always find it in a window. Unlike Marvel, you don't have to watch a TV show before you watch a movie to understand it. You still do. You know, you should. You still need to. No. It's canon. It's canon. So annoying. Okay. But you can watch Attack of the Clones and then watch Revenge of the Sith and not watch Clone Wars.
[00:06:58] Yeah, but you miss out on all the details of the Clone Wars. But you're not missing... It's just added context. Unlike Captain America, you know, you should watch Falcon and Winter Soldier to understand how he becomes Captain America for the new movie. You kind of should. Because those are interlinked. I'm just saying, you know, you can't read chapters 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 in a book, you know? Just saying. It depends.
[00:07:28] Is it a choose-your-own-adventure book? I mean, like, you shouldn't be reading it in that order. You're just feeding the beast. That's why I'm sorry. That's fine. That's your opinion. I know. That's why I just know. Cut. Yeah. It's okay. You can judge. That's fine. It's all right. It's all right. Speaking of Marvel, Daredevil came out. I watched them. I was going to hold my tongue, but I... I watched episode 1.
[00:07:57] Here's my problem with this, and I am going to have to stop watching the new one and probably go back and watch the original, because I never watched the TV show originally. I know who some of the characters are, you know, but I'm kind of lost. Oh, okay. But that was it? That was your only gripe, really? Oh, I thought the first... I mean, it was dark. It was hella dark, which is what you would expect out of Daredevil, you know? Yeah, so apparently it was a lot lighter.
[00:08:27] That's why it caused the rewrites and the postponement. Like, I like the tone. I think it's in a great direction. I was very surprised at the first episode context, because I watched the show on Netflix, so that's why I kind of... The first episode kind of hit me. So, I mean, yeah, I would definitely check it out.
[00:08:50] It's definitely a recommendation, because, you know, they definitely steer very close to the source material in the Netflix. So, yeah, I hope you'll enjoy it. But, yeah, I really enjoyed the first two episodes. I think this is the first time I've been, like, hyped for a Marvel show. For an actual Marvel show coming out. Born Again was something I think I was always waiting for.
[00:09:18] And so far, the tone, the look, it didn't disappoint. And they really had a good transition from the Netflix to, like, what Disney is. Now, I understand, like, all the gripeness for people kind of complaining about the CGI in the show.
[00:09:43] I kind of just feel that's what we're kind of going to have to get used to if it's just with Marvel or if it's kind of what the standard of CGI is now. Because, I mean, Jason, you said it. I think you said it last week or the week before when I think we were discussing movies. Like, some of the CGI, like, 10 years ago, still holds up today.
[00:10:13] And some is a bit better of what we're seeing currently. Mm-hmm. And which is what I'm, I'm just kind of, I don't get it. Like, where? How are you doing that? Exactly. I don't get it. Like, how are you doing that? Like, is it a different system? Is it a, like, I don't know. But, like, what did we lose, you know, from the past few years?
[00:10:43] Like, is it a budget thing? Or did we get lazy? Or I don't know. Yeah, a little bit of that, a little bit of A, a little bit of B. Okay. You know, like, it's not, I mean, like, going back to the whole strike as well, you know, from all the strikes that we've had recently with all the actors, the people that work behind the scenes. You know, like, when you had, when, before when you had, let's say, let's just say numbers.
[00:11:12] I know it's not. But when you had 20 people working on a project and then you, all of a sudden, you cut it down to seven. You know, you kind of say, like, hey. Hey, you know, yes, technology has gotten better. But at the same time, you know, that's still, you're missing a whole bunch of labor that other people have been putting into it. Yeah. So, I mean, like, just think of it that way. That's why I'm not, I see everything as face value now in this, in that industry.
[00:11:42] Just because I'm like, yo, like, what's, what's the flavor of the month? And then how are they, how many movies of that are they making? That's it. Yeah. I was just trying to look up, see who's actually, which studios, like, who's actually doing the CGI. Right. Visual effects are done by Rise FX.
[00:12:10] It's actually, it's one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, 10, 11 different companies doing CGI work for it. You know, seeing all 11 of them probably, they may or may not use some of the same programs. But at the same time, like, you got to get 11 companies on the same page. You know, that's a lot of work. Maybe that's also the problem. Like, okay, cut it down to a couple companies.
[00:12:41] Let's give them the bulk of the work. Pay them. And yeah, I don't know. Maybe it's the number of teams the company has that like, oh no, well, we have a team of like 13, like, or something like that. But I don't know. I mean, if you look at some of the credits in like movies, you know, some of those people, like, I don't know if they list the entire staff. But some of those companies are only like six people deep. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Remember that.
[00:13:11] I mean, at this point, right. There's some sort of disconnect going on to where like, like you said, man, you know, CGI 10 years ago still holds up today. And some, you know, is still, still kind of looking better than what we're currently seeing. I mean, take a look at Shrek. That Shrek, that whole Shrek debate that's going on right now. I know you're laughing, man. You had to go there. I mean, we go in there. I'm bringing it out there, bro. Like, what's up with that?
[00:13:41] What's up with that? Like. True. I mean. Yeah. Yeah. So I'm going to. All right. We're going to, since Jason went there. Oh, yeah. Let me. Might as well just get into it because then we've got other stuff to talk.
[00:14:03] But I think part of the problem is, and for me is, I think what, where it holds up is you look at who the, the visual effects and CGI house was. When you look at Weta and you look at industrial light and magic, they are the standard bear. Oh yeah. And anything they've worked on is what's held up. Right.
[00:14:29] Like you go look at, for the most part, the visual effects for even you go back to, you know, attack of the clones. And you look at revenge of the Sith. Those movies are revenge. This is 20 years old. Right. And it still looks. Oh, it still holds up. Right. So. With that. So folks who haven't actually seen what Jason's referring to.
[00:15:00] So sharing it on the screen. It's basically how they've redone Shrek. I think this one over here on the right is probably one of the best ones to go look at. I'll just pull it up really quick. Here you go. Like, what the hell? Like, why did you even have to do that? You didn't need to do that. I mean, I get it. There's different animation, but keep them the same.
[00:15:30] Like. Yeah. I hate to say it. How to train your dragon is going live action. And they're still keeping the same kind of look for Toothless. Yeah. Where you look at that dragon on the live action and it looks like Toothless from the animated movie. Maybe they're trying to go for a truer or more real tone, but I mean, I don't understand why. They're just trying to top Sonic. Yeah. Something. But. How much you want. I would surprise.
[00:16:00] I mean, it would take a lot of animation to go back and rework this. That's 2001. Yeah. Is that right? It says 2001. See how good it looks. I mean, I guess it's 2001. But you have such like contour details. And that was back in the heyday of DreamWorks. Yeah. Now you're going with a lot more like smoothing, which I get. It's more like trying to make it more human-like, more lifelike.
[00:16:25] But at the same time, like this is a reason why the like old Shrek is looking good because of all those like deep lines. That's why people like, you know, people have Marvel, DC and Image, you know. Marvel is very rounded. DC is very like straight. Like it's very straightforward. And then Image has all those sharp lines, like artwork wise. Yeah. You know, like people have their choice and the people see it and people notice it.
[00:16:55] They're not just going to be like, oh, hey, look at that. No, no, no. They're looking at that, dude. They're looking. Yeah. So it's, I don't know. But I think at this point in the game, right, with how they're looking for potential release date and everything, I think it's too late in the game for them to go back and reanimate the thing at this point to fix it.
[00:17:18] Whereas at least with Paramount, you could delay Sonic for a little bit because he's not, you know, he's just an asset, right? It's not the entire movie. It's not the entire scene. So it's going to be probably a little bit harder to reanimate. Yeah. And not to mention there's probably a huge, you know, amount of momentum with this movie, not just for the movie itself. But, you know, this is Mike Myers comeback.
[00:17:46] People are already talking about it. You know, there's already a. Oh, God. What was it? Wayne's World. Also possibly a sequel. Oh, I would love Wayne's World. I'm sorry. That was that was kind of a rumor. But Austin Powers was definitely getting thrown around there. He's now he's he's now the person who portrays Elon Musk on SNL. Oh, oh, I did not know that. That's hilarious.
[00:18:17] I got to check that out. And then also. This is the like big for Zendaya as well. She's been on. Yeah, she's the daughter momentum track. Like this is that was a huge announcement. So, yeah. For them to postpone it or to like to redo it, that would I think that would cost way too much. Yeah. I mean, yeah. Animation is going to probably put on hold for probably good six months to a year.
[00:18:45] You know, at that point to probably reanimate everything. They could. You know, maybe they just used AI for it. And that's what they got. These chat GPT. You know, anyways. So let's get into what we were actually planning on really talking about. Unless actually, you know what? Real quick before we move on. Jay. Jerry was saying you've got something for like for collector's corner. Oh, now. Okay. We can do it now. I did mine.
[00:19:12] Well, like, you know, obviously you guys knew that Matt had gotten me a puzzle. And it's a dragon puzzle. I'm not going to show it until it's fully complete. Not going to lie. Like, it's going to be one of the few puzzles that I get next. You know. But yeah. I got a couple of Mega Man collectibles. Ooh. It's going to be harder. There we go. Those are pretty. No. Cut Man. Solid guy. Solid. Solid.
[00:19:43] Mega Man villain. You know. From the OG. And then also, like, you know, Mega Man in a different suit. The Hyperbomb. Where did you find those at? Frankincense. Yep. There it is. I kind of figured. And I was like. At this point. We reference Frankincense so much. They should just sponsor us. Oh, I'd totally be down. Oh, dude. That'd be sick. That'd be sick. So, it's.
[00:20:13] It was good. And that was. Nice. Like, I'm like, yo. Digging it. Loving it. You know. Yeah, man. Yeah. So, thank you guys. And, dude. That line is, like, super affordable. Like, the. Like, the other characters are super cool. And then. The only ones that's kind of hard is, like, OG Mega Man. I was really trying to find that. Oh. Sorry, dude. Yeah. All right. So, Jerry. Why don't you share yours? Yeah. I got mine.
[00:20:41] Thank you for Christmas and birthday. I got a little cute thing. Michelangelo. Totally dope. And what I will most likely be reading tonight. The. Let's see. Can we see it? Yeah. Nope. It dropped. Sorry. Let me clear my. My background. Clearing out the background. There we go. The lost years. Of.
[00:21:10] The last Ronin. In hardcover. Hardcover. With my other one. I can't wait. So. Yeah. This is the continuation. It's. It's. It's. It's. Already. Getting a lot of praise. So, I'm excited to read it. But yeah. That was. Those are mine. And then. Matt's is still on the way. It's in. It's. We'll show it when it's. Whenever it gets here. Theo's going to have one too. So. We'll add that. And. I'm sure I'll have another Lego set by the time that happens. Yes. So.
[00:21:41] Anyways. But. You know. On this show. For those that have. Listened to us and watched us for a while now. You. You all know that there is a. A big debate. Amongst us. Of. Physical. Versus. Digital. And I'm sure. Tonight is going to be no different. And Jason's going to. Start into it again.
[00:22:11] Anyways. So. Death Stranding 2. Was announced. At South by Southwest. 2025. In a panel. That was hosted. By. Kristen Zatani. One of. You know. From. From PlayStation. She's part of the PlayStation podcast. You know. Hideo Kojima was there. But. They. Had a. 10 minute. Trailer. Announcing the game. And what's even.
[00:22:41] More interesting is. It's coming out. June 26th. That's very soon. That's very soon. I didn't. I didn't think. For a big game. That's very soon. Yeah. Yep. So it is called Death Stranding 2. On the beach. Um. And they're going to have different versions. At launch. So. They are doing. The. Collector's edition. Which is available by. You know. In stores and stuff. And I'm assuming it'll be available on. You know. PlayStation direct.
[00:23:12] But it's going to be. Two. Twenty. Ninety. In the states. Two. Forty. Ninety. Ninety. Uh. Euro. And then. Uh. Just. Side 32,000 yen. Um. It is coming with. A digital download of the game. It's coming with. A statue. Uh. You're getting art cards. A letter from. Uh. Hideo Kojima. A collector's box. A three inch.
[00:23:41] Dollman figurine. Uh. You're getting in game items. Basically. The. The machine guns. Is an early unlock. You're getting a couple of patches. Uh. And some armor. Pre-order bonuses. You know. You're getting additional. Um. You know. You're getting silver. Uh. For the battle boost. And bokeh skeleton suits. Um. Versus. The in game items are gold. You know. And you're getting a custom hologram. So.
[00:24:09] That is the collector's edition. So. I already know Jason's gonna. Not get it. Not get it. I mean. But honestly. Well. I will be getting it. I didn't finish the first one. So. Too slow. You know. Too slow. Um. Then they're doing the digital deluxe edition. Which is 80 in the states. 90. Uh. In Europe. And then. Just out. Uh. Just shy of 10,000 yen. In Japan. Um. Basically. It's pretty much.
[00:24:39] The collector's edition. Minus. The statue. The figurine. And the art cards. Really. The physical stuff. The physical stuff. Right. Um. And then they're doing. The. Digital standard edition. Will be 70. You know. And it'll do the pre-order items. With it. Um. They're also gonna be doing. A concert series. That will be starting. On November 8th. Uh. At the Sydney Opera House.
[00:25:09] In Australia. Um. Um. And then. From a screenshot perspective. I mean. It does look. Does look good. Um. As far as. Uh. Graphics perspective. Right. Yeah. Um.
[00:26:00] However. I actually didn't. I got to like. The final chapter. Actually. But. Um. I ended up. Just looking at the end. It's what I thought it was. Uh. It's not what I predicted. But it was like. What was kind of leading to it. Jerry. Classic Jerry. That's not. That's not classic me. Yeah. It is. Getting to the very end. And then just stop playing it. I mean. Oh. Okay. Okay. Yeah. You're not wrong. Yeah. Yeah. That's true. I mean. How. You got up to Hell House. And stopped. For how long? Yeah. I.
[00:26:31] Yeah. That's also true. And I'm also at the very last. Uh. Final. Um. Uh. Thief mission. For Outlaws. To finish that game. And then. Let me guess. You put that aside. I did. I did. I started Cyberpunk. But I finished Cyberpunk. Here's the thing is. Who's going to finish. Who's going to finish their game more? Because I've got like. Three missions left on Mass Effect. Three. And I've got that game beat. Yeah. No. I'll go back to it. I mean. I'm going to finish it. It's just. You know.
[00:27:01] One of these days. I'll just talk it out. I didn't finish. Uh. Echo's Wisdom yet. Zelda. Just. Got. A Mass Effect. Kick. And just. That's what I mean. So. Um. You get those kicks every once in a while. And then you'll eventually go back. Like. I'm going to finish that up. Yeah. Uh. But. Um. With this one. No matter what. I'm a. I'm a Hodeo Kojima fan. So. Uh. I'm going to get the game. Yeah. I've never gotten into Metal Gear. And furthermore.
[00:27:31] When I was in college. I already have Snake Eater. Pre-ordered as well. I can't wait. Like. Just seeing a save point. In the middle of a cutscene. Kind of turned me off. You know. What was it? Whatever one it was on. That was. That's four. You're talking. No. You're talking about four. That was on. PS3. Yeah. But. Yeah. I know. I know. I know. I know. That was like. Yeah. Dang. Save. Save point during a cinema. That's. Okay. This is going to be loud. Yeah. I remember that.
[00:28:01] I remember that. I remember that. So. So yeah. So I. You know. For the fans of the first game. I think. Getting it this quickly. Is big. You know. Yeah. Because it's been less than five years. Right. At this point. Three or four years. Yeah. Yeah. I mean. Even since the teaser. Yeah. I think even less. I think less. Yeah. 19. But then again. That's. That's his own company. So. That's the only game they were.
[00:28:32] You know. They were fixed on. They were. Okay. There we go. We're just shy of. Actually. It's been a little bit over five years. Yeah. I mean. That makes. It does kind of make sense. Like. That's his only team. That their only focus was that one game to get finished. They're going to move on to the next one. Like. Well. They do have a game that they're working on for Xbox. Specifically. Yeah. That's something that. That's right. That's right. That wasn't. Yeah. I forgot about that. So. But yeah. I mean.
[00:29:02] Might I pick that up on. When it goes on sale. Quite possibly. I'll definitely get that on. Kind of go back to the original. But. But then. Anyway. So yesterday. Was Mario Day. That's right. March 10th. Also. If anybody wants to look at it. It's M-A-R. One zero. Spells out Mario. So. Nintendo had a bunch of stuff. That they've put out for promotion. Um. It goes through the end of this week.
[00:29:32] So through. 316. At midnight. Pacific time. And they're doing. A bunch of games on sale. So. Um. Mario Wonders. 20 bucks off. They're doing 15. For Mario versus Donkey Kong. Mario RPG. Is almost. Almost 20 bucks off. It's 30% off. You know. Mario Maker 2. Which. My kids have played the. Crap out of that game. And that's still a. That game is. 5 plus years old at this point. Or. Yeah. Almost 6. Um. That's 20 bucks off.
[00:30:03] Um. Our running joke about Ubisoft. Mario and Rabbids. Uh. Sparks of Hope. Is 75% off. At 15 bucks. The. Gold edition. Which has the season pass. Is. 75% off on that. And then you got. 33% off. On. Paper Mario. Luigi's Mansion 3. Um. You know. Captain Toad. Is 30% off. Which that's. That's a. That's a good change. From the. Standard Mario series.
[00:30:33] And it is kind of fun. Um. You know. The. The Kingdom Battles. Is. 75% off. On that. With all it's DLC. Being 75% off. Um. You know. Mario Sonic. At the Olympics. Is 60% off. Um. And then some of the DLC. For. Sparks of Hope. 75% off. And then Yoshi's Crafted World. Is 33. Uh. 33% off. So. There's some really. There's some good games in here. To pick up. Um. I will say this.
[00:31:03] Mario and Rabbit. Mario Rabbids Kingdom Battles. That is a good. Tactical RPG game. Is. That's the second one. Right? That's the first one. Kingdom Battles. The first one. Sparks of Hope. Is the second one. Sparks of Hope. Okay. Yep. And then. I will say. It's Luigi's Mansion 3. Is. The chef's kiss of the series. It's fantastic. Fantastic. Um. You know. Uh. Mario RPG. You know. That. That one's been around. The. The remaster. Is. Is really good. Um. Hmm.
[00:31:33] So yeah. So they had some decent. Decent sales. And these sales are available. You know. In store too. Instead of just digital. Um. But. The one thing I kind of wanted to. Really look at. You know. Is. They announced a Lego set. Yeah. That was cool. Is Mario and his cart. A new Lego set. New Lego set. Not. Not the. Not the. Super Mario 1. OG. No. They're doing. I mean. They've.
[00:32:01] They're starting to come out with all the Mario Kart stuff now. As the latest. Mario Legos. You know. They've kind of moved on from doing their own separate sets. To now doing Mario Kart. Um. Um. This set. Is going to be. Available May 15th. For. $170. Here's a little bit better. View of it. It's. That's not bad. It's just got 2,000 pieces. It actually doesn't look bad. Um. When you look at it.
[00:32:36] I mean. It. For that price though. Yeah. Doesn't look bad. For that price though. I would get the. Probably get the Mario Kart statue. For that price. You know. If I'm going to do it. But. If I'm a Lego. You know. Nintendo Lego fan. You know. You can pick this up. Um. I do want to see the scale. Okay. Okay. Uh. I mean. Okay. I like. I.
[00:33:05] I understand the. The Lego pricing. Yeah. But when you look at. Um. Like. Don't get me wrong. Lego pricing. I think it should be cheaper. But. I mean. For the same price. Roughly. Here's the actual statue. That first four figures did. Yeah. And that's. Do you have any other. What's that scale?
[00:33:36] Yeah. I mean. It's all right. I mean. It is. It's. Maybe. Roughly the same scale. But you get. I mean. This one is. Nine inches. You get a base. Yeah. Nine inches tall. Versus. Nine inches. Let's see. Does it have. This one's actually the same height. Nine inches. So. This one's probably going to be the same. I mean. When you look at it. It's almost like they used. The same design for it. Right. It just comes with. Like.
[00:34:05] A really cool base. But. You get a little bit more with the other one. With the statue versus. But still. As I said. I understand the Lego pricing. Oh yeah. I think. I definitely think. I like. I would say that would be like an $80 item for me. I mean. Home one was. $80. And the invisible hand was $70 for me. I mean. Like. What is it? Like. Three cents a piece or something like that. Or like. Um. Like. They always have like a Lego calculator.
[00:34:35] How much it is per piece. Oh really? Yeah. I didn't see here. I didn't know that. It's roughly. It's like roughly like four cents. Or something like that a piece. Let's find that out. Doing the math right on the fly here. Yeah. So. That breaks out to be 8.6 cents per piece. On that set. So. Yeah. Six cents a piece. Like. So. It would be like. A solid. Like. Round it off. Let's round it off. $125.
[00:35:05] $120. Yeah. You know. Thing. I'd be reason. I would do $120. For it. I just think $170 is a lot. I mean. Honestly. For $50 more. I could get the. Tie Interceptor. The X-Wing. The UCS set. It is. It is a solid Mario though. It is. It is a solid Mario. It is a good Mario collectors thing. Yeah. But. But. I just think. No matter what.
[00:35:34] Lego has really. Kind of hit that collector market. Where. I think. Oh yeah. Prices are also. I mean. This is where I'm talking about. Like. The different sets. Right. You've got. You know. They did. Do some of the Donkey Kong. They're getting ready to. Retire. A lot of these sets. You know. Some of these are just the starter sets. Which you actually need. But here's the new sets. Like you're doing. Oh. That's right. They did. Baby Mario and baby Luigi. You know. That's right. You've got.
[00:36:04] Donkey Kong. With his cart. You've got now this baby peach. And the Grand Prix set. Which. I don't want to show my kids. Because they're going to be like. I want it. But now. Coming out with the standard. You know. They came out with the standard cart. You know. You can just put the. You know. One of the starter figures into it. And then you've got like. A Toad's garage. Where it comes with a cart. And he's. You know. Toads are fixing it up. Yoshi's got a bike.
[00:36:34] You know. So. Yoshi. That's cool. Yoshi. You know. Is that the flower pot? I still need to get that flower pot. I want to get at least one. The Prana plant. Yeah. I've seen that built. And it is. It is nice. Yeah. You know. For a 540 piece set. That runs like. 80 bucks. I think. And then you've got the. The old 2D looking. Oh yeah. Mario and Yoshi. Where his legs actually move. Mario World. Oh that's cool.
[00:37:05] So. You know. They're. They're hitting that. They're hitting that market with. The Mario ones. I think. Even like. I'm. We talked about this before. With the. The Animal Crossing ones. Some of the sets aren't hitting. You know. On the Nintendo side. Yeah. Um. Some are. You know. Um. You know. I look at the Animal Crossing ones. And. They're. For the price. They're not. Worth it. Like this one is 40 bucks for. You know.
[00:37:35] Dodo Airlines. And it's not great. It's just. You know. You're looking at the front. Right. And you just. It's really. There's not that much to it. Yeah. That's very weak sauce. That's very weak sauce. Yeah. It is. For 30. For $38. It is. It is weak. And. As much as I love Animal Crossing. My kids keep going. Are you going to get the Animal Crossing? I kind of. I kind of feel with those. Like. You. You almost have to get. The other ones. To kind of fit it.
[00:38:05] You have to get the whole thing. Yeah. Like. And do the. Yeah. The concert. Square. But even then though. Like. Something like this. Right. It's got the. You know. It's built on the base. Right. But then it's. These off on the side. Instead of actually making it. Like. On a plate. For one solid. Yeah. You know. Because here's the backside. That's why. That's it. That's why I think. They're meant into sets. For you to like. If you have your own set. Like. Base. And then you place them. And arrange them. Kind of like.
[00:38:35] The game. But. Yeah. I don't know. I still feel like. This didn't. Yeah. They're not. They're not great. Right. And that's. Where I decided. I'm not spending my money on these. That's a bummer. I thought. I definitely thought. You were going to. Like a couple of them. But they. Yeah. Even. Yeah. They're just not great. You know. Versus. You look at. Even. The Star Wars ones. Like.
[00:39:05] So that one you still need? Oh. I. Oh. I don't have a space. For. That set. That thing is massive. Oh. That was. It's 6,000. Like. Sorry. 5,000 pieces. Yeah. It's like 600 bucks. Oh. That's a foot by. That's a foot by what? No. I meant. The smaller scale. It is. It is. 22 inches wide. And it's diameter. 43 inches. Almost. 4 feet. Almost. That thing is huge. I don't have room for that.
[00:39:35] I would love that. I meant. I meant. The smaller scale. Ships. But. I thought that may have been one. So. I still. I want this guy right here. The Tyre Interceptor. Oh. Okay. Which I've seen that in person. And that thing is the same size scale as the old. Uh. Hasbro. Uh. Tyre Interceptor toy. From the 80s. Oh. It is scale. For that. So. That X-Wing. Oh. And I want the X-Wing. But. To that point. Right.
[00:40:05] This is 230. So. Jason. Doing your math. Right. The Tyre Interceptor is 230. Yeah. Damn. And what about the X-Wing? Uh. X-Wing is the same price. Damn. So that breaks down to being like 12 cents a piece. Yeah. For that. Yeah. But it's pretty. That's a licensed like. Yeah. That's. You're paying for license. It's also licensed. So it's going to be.
[00:40:36] I love the little dioramas. I love those. I really like the dioramas. Um. But. I still need this guy. Um. The Acclimator Assault Ship. Gotcha. Okay. I need the Millennium Falcon. And then. I need the. Um. Executor. Which is this guy. Gotcha. And then that would complete my. Collection on the.
[00:41:06] The ships. That are in the Starship collection. Um. And I want to do the dioramas. Those are like my. My next steps. Cool. But. In the end though. So like. Looking back at Mario. Right. Because we've all. Mario has been a part of. You know. Our gaming. Lives. Essentially for a long time now. Um. What are. What's your. First. Memory.
[00:41:35] Playing Mario. Like. What game was it? And. What is your favorite. Mario. Game. Jay. You want to go? Well. Obviously the first one. That I was played. Was the. NES one. OG. That came with it. That tied with. Duck Hunt. You know. Like a Mario. Never finished it. Never beat it. But you know. I was a kid back then. You know. You all had so much time. And you only had so much.
[00:42:05] Like. Patience with it. Um. You know. It was fun. Like. The best one I loved. Was Super Mario 3. Ooh. That one was solid. It's. It's just that like. It rounded out. A little bit more. Um. It wasn't so. Uh. Just like. Pixelated. You know. It felt. It felt nice. Like. Aesthetically. Um. After that though. Like. What. Would have been my.
[00:42:36] Go. Like. My best Mario. That's tough. Because. I don't play Mario as often. Especially with all the new ones. Um. I think Super Mario RPG. Has got to be the best one. Just because. It is. It. Actually has like. A good story. For being so old. You know. Hmm. Are you. And I'll pose a. Same question to you too. Jerry is. Jason. Are you. In the 2D or 3D camp?
[00:43:07] Um. Overall. I'd be more in the 2D camp. The 2D camp. Good man. Good man. No. No need to go. 3D. 3D. It looks nice. But. Nah. It's alright. Jerry. How about you? Uh. Let's see. So. Same. It was OG. Uh. OG slash Duck Hunt. Uh. When I got my first NES for my. Birthday or Christmas. I think it was my. I think it was my birthday.
[00:43:37] And. Uh. Yeah. Loved it. And then. I would have to say. So I'm going with. Probably with my first love. Not my. Yeah. I would have to go with my. The first love. Uh. Mario game. Was probably. Mario World. Super Mario World. For NES. Oh yeah. That had to be like. The moment I saw. Like. All the bright. Brighter colors. And Yoshi. And like. I. I got into. Like. That was probably. My favorite one. So.
[00:44:08] Um. Yeah. I have other like. Honorable mentions. But um. I'm also more 2D. I. I think 3D. Um. Uh. Gets. Has honorable mentions. Or like. Uh. Like. Select games. Mario games. That I think people remember and love. But overall. You know. Mario is known for 2D. And like. That's the classicness. So. Uh. Yeah. What about you Matt? I mean. You gotta. I mean. You. You have to respect what.
[00:44:38] 3D Mario has been able to do. For the genre. Right? Oh yeah. I mean. I think that's. Mario Galaxy. And continue generationally. And then. Yeah. I. I think with that. I think it's been a. A great. Like. Combination. Or recipe. For it to continue generationally. Because. You have the 3Ds. To. To keep current. But then. Throw in. Spices of the 2D. To keep the nostalgia. Going. Where. Yeah. I think it's gotten. Generational that way.
[00:45:08] But go ahead. So. For me. Of course. My first memory is. You know. Mario. And Duck Hunt. Back. Right after. Not too long after it launched. Right. Is when we got it. Um. My fondest memories. My fondest memories. Are Mario 3. Of me and my friends. Sitting around. You know. Trying to beat the game in a day. Trying to find all the. You know. The shortcuts. And stuff. And almost. I mean. We were speed running. Before speed running. Became a thing. Right. Oh cool. Like.
[00:45:37] We were trying to do it. As fast as we can. You know. Making sure to get all the warp whistles. Go from. You know. Clear out. Get the P wings. And everything. And one. Warp whistle out of two. You know. Roll two. All the way to the end. Um. You know. We even had. You know. Back then. You didn't really have. We didn't really have the strategy guides. You know. Right at launch. So we had to have. Like. Write down. Like. All the matching puzzles. Right. We had to do like the.
[00:46:07] You know. The pick twos. So we had it all mapped out. So we could select one. And then we're like. Okay. This is the one up. Cool. Here's the map. That we built out for it. Knew exactly where everything was. So we could just run the table. On all the. On all the stuff. But I would say this. Like. My favorite. Mario. Is Super Mario World. Oh. Oh. Okay. Cool. Honestly. Super Nintendo itself. Had so many. Good games. Oh God. Oh God. That still hold up.
[00:46:37] Like. I still play Link to the Past. I still play Super Metroid. Like. Actraiser was so. Such a like. Hidden gem. That they did a. A remaster of it. Right. You had SimCity. F-Zero. Like. Now. Granted. You. If you go back on the. SNS emulator. To play F-Zero. F-Zero does not look good anymore. More. Like. As much as I loved F-Zero. It's not. It does not hold up. It doesn't hold up. That one didn't. Um. But.
[00:47:07] You know. Mario World though. Just had. It was great level designs. The fact that you had. Multiple. Exits. To levels. To go to different parts of it. Um. You know. Star Road. That was just. Insane. You know. Getting through that. And then. On top of that. Then starting. The special road. You know. You had. That other piece. And then once you were done with it. If you cleared special road. Then all of a sudden. You go to back to the main game. All the creatures have now changed.
[00:47:37] And even the end credits. Changed. To match. That you completed special road. So like. They went so deep. In Mario. World. That it was like. Wow. Like. Yeah. And I still love it. And the music. The. The levels. And everything. You know. The. You know. It's just great. Now my honorable mention though. Is New Super Mario Brothers. Which is. They originally came out. On the. The Wii. You know. And then they came out. With an updated version. For the Wii U. And then they came out.
[00:48:06] With the version. For the Switch. Um. I really. I really like. New Super Mario Brothers. But I think that's because. It keeps going. With that tradition. Of the 2D. And being strong on that. I didn't. As pretty as it is. I didn't like. Mario Wonder as much. You know. Um. It was good. There was some. Cool levels. I think. I think they tried to throw. A little bit. Too many bells and whistles. In that game. Yeah. Where. I. I think you and I.
[00:48:36] Kind of appreciate. More of the classicness. That's why. Like. Yeah. I. Well. I immediately loved. The Super Mario Bros. The. The port from. I think it was Wii U. Yeah. Was it Wii? Wii to the Wii U. Okay. Yeah. That one's great. Again. That one's great. Because it's very classic. So I enjoyed that one as well. And. Wonder I did enjoy. But like. I can. I can understand. Like a lot of. A lot of features. Were into that. Where I think. It was.
[00:49:05] A very good. Current game. Yeah. It's just one of the things though. It's. It's so funny though. Like. He's been such a. Like. Pivotal point of. Gaming culture. I just have no like. No. Acclimation. Like. Like it's. He's there. Cool. You know. But I'm not like. I need to get the new Mario game. You know. Like. Yeah. It's not my jam. No. No. I get that. Yeah. Sucks. But. You know.
[00:49:36] I think for me. I'm always going to get the 2D ones. It's the 3D ones. I'm going to be like. Maybe. I'm. I'm a bit more selective. I usually wait until I see the trailer. And. Yeah. If it's a little. I'm more. I lean more towards the 2D. But. I always like to look for some sort of variety. Like. I think that's why. I did appreciate Odyssey a bit more. It was just different. And. I would totally do. Like. I would totally play a sequel. But then. You know. I wouldn't go out of my way to.
[00:50:05] To get another game like that. Like it's. It was good for. For what it was. I mean. Mario Odyssey was great. Yeah. You know. I enjoyed it more than. Mario 64. And Mario Sunshine. I enjoyed Mario Galaxy though. When that came out on the Wii. Out of all of those. I think Galaxy is probably. For me. The Galaxy is. Probably the best out of those three. Yep. Yeah. So yeah. So. I mean. Happy birthday to. To Mario.
[00:50:34] Like he came out in 83. In Japan. Thank you for our childhood. You know. So. You know. Depending on where you look at it. You know. 39 years for the States. Pretty much. Just about 40 years. For us. And it's like. Damn. He's been there for. Virtually my entire life. Right. Um. So yeah. So it's. Mario is still great. And I. I still. For me. I. I love Nintendo. And I will always. Like I said. I will always probably get the 2D Mario.
[00:51:04] You know. Even. Even not liking Wonder. Like I should have probably. I'll still get the next 2D. At launch. Absolutely. 3D. Um. I'll probably end up getting that one at launch. For the kids. Just because they love the 3D Mario games. You know. They love Odyssey. Yeah. Um. For Mario Day. They both wear their. They both wear their Mario Odyssey hats. Nice. My oldest has. The red Mario one. My youngest has the green Luigi one. Which I didn't even know they made.
[00:51:33] Until we were at Fan Expo. And saw it. Yeah. Oh. Sweet man. Um. So with that. Jason. What have you been playing? Um. Nothing much. Like I said. Just been going little bit by little. Uh. Last of Us 2. Um. Playing it up. Not. Like. I'm not spending that much time on it. Um. But you know. Piece. Little by little. Um.
[00:52:03] I am finishing up one of my puzzles. Uh. Should be today. Um. So it's going to be. It's actually the. The uh. Spirited Away. When Sen. Oh cool. Yeah. When Sen gets to. Uh. The. In. For the first time. On the bridge. It's a very. Uh. Very nice. You know. Scenic. Scenic. Spirit Away is such a good movie though. Yeah. It's a good scenic puzzle.
[00:52:33] Didn't really take too long. It's a thousand pieces. But what I did. Learn though. Is that. Japanese puzzles. They come with glue. So like. You don't have to. Go out and buy glue. It comes with a little packet of glue. I guess if it's like a certain. Size puzzle. Or. Or if it's just maybe the manufacturer. That was doing it. But I was like. Oh. That is a very nice. That is a very nice like. Thing to come along with. I'm like. Yo. I enjoy that. I like that.
[00:53:04] Yeah. Other than that. Just been watching TV. Like here and there. You know. Cooking shows. Started. This new anime. Rising Impact. On Netflix. Pretty funny. Little. Little cute. Little funny. Little thing. So. Yeah. All right. Jerry. Jerry. Let's see. Finish Cyberpunk. I have currently started. Watching.
[00:53:34] I think one of you mentioned it. But the show Ghosts. Did it. Did you. Oh. I haven't watched it. But yes. We were talking. We taught. You and I were talking about that. Off air. Yeah. Oh yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So I started it. And I'm. I'm on season three. I think right now. So. Yeah. Yeah. I got it. Okay. So. Do I need to watch it? Because it's on my. It's on my. It is. It's good. It's like. It's a good like. Like you can have the show on while you're playing video games and like still continue with it. Yeah. It's good.
[00:54:03] It's a good ensemble cast. I enjoy it. It. What else have I. Oh. And I. Uh. Got a new game. Uh. Independent game. I down. It was a download only. So that's very weird for me. Uh. Eternal Strands. It's. Yeah. We talked about that last week. How are you making out with it? Very good. Uh. I'm further along. I've got more understanding on the lore and stuff. So the characters are fun.
[00:54:32] I customized, made some more better armor and strengthened up my character. It's a lot of fun, especially fighting the dragons and the statues. I like the Shadow of Colossus kind of element to it. Climbing the big dragons and literally knocking away at them. It's fun. I'm enjoying it. But then I got to take a break and just finish Outlaws and I think one other game that I'm...
[00:55:02] So he says. Yeah. So he says. I said I need to take a break. I understand that I am lagging on that. But yeah. Matt, what about you? Animal Crossing. Of course. A lot of it though is trying to make the money. Because I am going to have to move my island just a little. Oh gosh. I'm not doing a free remodel this time.
[00:55:30] But I decided though, I'm going to build a replica as close as I can in Animal Crossing of Hyrule Castle. Oh wow. I had to actually do an ode to Hyrule Castle on my island. Interesting. Interesting. Okay. I mean you can just join Theo and go on Minecraft, bro. No, that's okay. But I'm also going to redo like my museum to the point where it's kind of got like wings.
[00:55:59] So like it'll have like entrances. So where two of my wings are combined together. So you have like a little spot where you can walk in and turn to the left and go off to like the Wonders of the World exhibits. You can go off to the right and do NASA or you can go up into the main area. So I'm going to like redo how my museum sits. Okay. And whatnot. Which is going to take a little bit. So yeah, I need to get some cheddar.
[00:56:29] The castle replica is going to cost a lot of money though because each of the ramparts are $250,000. Dang. For each of the towers. So yeah. God damn. Yeah. I don't even play it. I already know that's a lot, bro. It is a lot, dude. So yeah. So that, that. Dang, dude. It's going to take a little while to do that. So I'm going to do my museum redesign first and then do everything else from, from their point on.
[00:57:00] And then Mass Effect 3. I am down to the final couple of missions. I'm about to go ahead to the Citadel because it is, you know, where it's the catalyst for for everything. So I'm heading to the Citadel. And then after that should be the final. Do you have everything? Are you ready for that final mission? Like to get everybody out? I've done all the side quests.
[00:57:28] I have already earned the trophy for having the maximum, you know, the, the highest percentage of the resources you can bring for war. Um, yeah, I'm, I'm ready. I've also made sure to talk to my side characters and stuff that have been along the way with me, got them to join up. Um, got my, that was the biggest disappointment. My, my first run through, I was like, damn, I lost a couple of people. Like that really hurt.
[00:57:56] And then when I found out you can actually get them all to survive, I immediately replay. You have to do loyalty missions. So yeah, um, everything is set and ready to go. All my decisions through one and two are on par with where I want them to be. So yeah. So I will be finishing three and I am toying with actually doing Andromeda. Really? Yeah. Because apparently Bioware did a lot of work on Andromeda. I heard, I heard through a few of the updates.
[00:58:25] It's, you know, it, it is, people are saying it's kind of a different game, but it's still, it kind of needs, you need to give it a chance, I guess. But yeah. And as much as I love Mass Effect, I'm going to give it a shot. Um, you know, Dragon Age is on the list too. So, um, yeah. And I mean, there's not a lot of new games coming out that I'm like, I need to wait for, you know, so I'm just going to start clearing out some of my backlog, some of the stuff I want to play and finish and whatnot. So nice. Um, Last of Us 2 is on the list as well.
[00:58:54] To Jason's point, might as well play it right before the show. So you can kind of get a comparison of, Hey, this is what the game was. This is what the show is doing. So, yeah. Um, anyway, so with that, I want to thank everybody who kind of just popped in and out of, uh, live feed tonight over on Twitch. Um, and as always, you know, thank you to everybody that tunes in, watches the episodes, listens to the episode every single week, once we drop them on the weekends.
[00:59:20] Um, but just with literally, I mean, there's the, the craziness here in the States just seems to be getting worse and worse. So, um, uh, no day goes by that something doesn't surprise me. Yes. Our stock market is in free fall right now. So, you know, it's got a lot of people worried. So I think above all, just please just be excellent to each other. That's right. Everybody.
[00:59:49] Uh, once again, just to reiterate, you know, it is still crazy out there. You know, we still have our opinions and, and, you know, uh, we just need to be a little bit patient, a little bit more open minded and, uh, just, uh, try and listen and, uh, yeah. And be open. So, uh, once again, you guys just, uh, let's just try to do and be better. Uh, let's just practice a little bit more patience and compassion
[01:00:18] and to, uh, try and, uh, lend a helping hand, uh, here and there. Let's just try and be better. Thank you guys. Be safe. J rock to J bone. Dick, take it, take it away. Yeah. You know, uh, hopefully everybody is having a okay time from the time change, you know, like it's the kids aren't. Yeah.
[01:00:45] You know, it is, it is a lot brighter in the earlier mornings and, uh, you know, it's getting dark. Uh, later too. So it's all good either way. Hopefully you guys didn't change Arizona, Hawaii. We still hate you, but you guys are smart. I don't know why we are. You're the only ones that don't do it, but fair enough. Um, okay. We're three months into the year guys. Like it is Lent season.
[01:01:13] So, you know, for those that are practicing, you know, like, Hey, good on you. For those that aren't just realized that Chick-fil-A sandwiches are, uh, on sale on Fridays. So, you know, I mean, uh, not Chick-fil-A, uh, fish fillet, fish fillet. Yeah. Uh, like, you know, all those fish sandwiches at burger restaurants. They're on, they're, they're on sale. Oh, I partook. Yeah.
[01:01:39] I had, you know, just remember that anyways, guys, I don't have my boy video. So, I mean, I guess I got to send it out to somebody. So Jerry, Jerry, you know what? I give you a lot of shit. I give you a lot of shit, Jerry, but you know, I'm going to give this, I'm a, I'm a softball pitch. This one to you. You better not mess it up. You better not mess it up. All right. Jerry, it plays a Theo, my man. Send it out like Theo does. All right, everyone. Thank you for watching. Thank you for listening. TTFN.
[01:02:09] That's all for now. God damn it. All right. What is it now? What is it? What is it? Matthew, my man. It plays a Theo. You send us out like you do. That Theo does. All right, everybody. Thank you for watching. Thank you for listening. Till next time. TTFN. Till next time. For now. That's what I'm talking about. Jake, come on, man. I softball pitch. Whatever.
